Greetings... FROM THE FUTURE: A Meh-rathon!
The date? January 20th, 2220. We have discovered, on the floor of the Pacifitlantic Ocean, a fully preserved house from the 2020s. Follow along as we describe what’s inside!
Another apparatus of alcohol consumption! This one in a kitchen drawer. Glethers was the one to find it and she brought it to show the rest of us. She explained that, as she understood it, things such as this were used so that wine could be chilled and served and then placed back into refrigeration without fear of the flavor changing. This was what was necessary before the creation of Synthetigrapes in 2035, whose fermented flavor would not fade or change, even if a bottle was left open. Many traditional vineyards went to vine shortly after the Synthetigrapes were introduced, Glethers told us. And then the Synthetigrapes too went out of fashion when it was discovered they took a small DNA swab of one’s mouth and uploaded it to their corporate server to be sold to interested parties. Of course, this was in the terms of use one had to accept before the cork of a Synthetigrape wine could be released for its bottle, but still, it felt like a breach of privacy, and people were put off wine altogether after that, Glethers said.
