Google added favicon icons to search
8Maybe it bothers me more than it should, but I am not a fan of the annoying favicon icons that Google added to search results this week. It looks so un-Google-like. What say you?

So they are copying DuckDuckGo.
@yakkoTDI Yep. I though the same thing when I first saw it.
@heartny thought
@PhysAssist I need to buy a “T”. I don’t think Meh sells them. I’ll check Amazon.
@heartny Maybe try Vanna [White]…
I heard she’s been bringing her work home [JK].
/giphy Buy a “T”
Doesn’t bother me.
Meh.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
At first I thought I somehow was brought to my ISPs crappy search engine. it’s def weird
This reminds me, I need to design a favicon for my research site. Didn’t know it was called favicon until now though.
It’s not clean looking, but it is an additional visual cue for imposter sites that people fall for.
Of course those people probably won’t know or notice the favicon being different either, so that’s probably just me trying to think it useful.
Scammers are likely to purposely avoid using the correct icon, in order to weed out the people who would figure out the scam at a later point anyways. Saves them time and resources.

and while you are at it if you hate the “end cards” that they started covering the ending of videos with on youtube add:
to “my filters”
@cinoclav Thank you. I’ll try this later when I login to my PC.
Y’all, as a website owner in an industry with a ton of ads for important keywords, this makes me endlessly happy. Any way to separate the paid-for landing page chaff from my high-on-the-SERP organic wheat… so to speak.

I guess I missed it. Even without the favicons, I’m kinda freaked out having the URL above the web page title.
