Because It Comes From Trees
Wanna know what people think of this maple syrup? Well, just take a look at this sparkling review from Amazon:
I have used this brand of shampoo for a while and I really like it.
Oh, damn. That’s actually a review of TRESemme Moisture Rich Shampoo. Our bad. But we’re sure you can forgive us, given how the design choices here.
That’s right, friends! The deal site that brought you cocktail mixers that look like bottles of conditioner is back with another viscous consumable that appears troublingly similar to a haircare product: Tree’s Knees Flavored Maple Syrups!
What flavors, you ask? Spicy flavor! And gingerbread flavor! And also coffee flavor!
Seriously, though, we want to be clear. People really do love this stuff.
Amazon User Charlie says about the spicy flavor:
The best tasting maple syrup I’ve found anywhere. It is pricey but equally addictive. Beyond pancakes I’ve used this to spice up many other foods, be creative. I’ll definitely but purchasing again.
Deborah Hill, meanwhile, gave the same flavor 4 stars. Why not 5? It wasn’t as spicy as expected.
You could taste the habanero but the spice level is low.
(We include this because, honestly, it might be a point in the syrup’s favor for some of you.)
Ryan Moulding has some fun suggestions for the gingerbread flavor:
The flavor is incredible and unique. Can be used on pancakes, in coffee, mix in with an old fashioned, Oatmeal, etc. The possibilities are endless. Would make a great gift too.
Another verified customer who chose to remain nameless has some further suggestions, as well as an important clarification regarding the flavor:
The ginger does not overpower the sweet maple taste. A great combination. Goes well drizzled on ice cream, strawberries, and of course, waffles or pancakes.
As for the coffee flavor, according to K. Wilson, it tastes like, get this, coffee and maple syrup:
Oh how I love maple syrup but maple syrup that tastes like coffee…robustfully sweet n delicious!!!
But maybe the best sales pitch comes from this 2-star review from Kyle:
Bought the coffee flavor and it just tastes like regular maple syrup.
That’s right! If the secondary flavor isn’t strong enough for you, you still end up with maple syrup! Which is delicious!
In fact, the main complaint you’ll see was the same as Charlie raised in that first review: the price. While the ‘by feature’ breakdown shows that flavor and gift-ability receive 4.1 and 4 respectively, the value for money only earns only 3.6.
But surprise, surprise! We’re selling a 3-pack for a dollar more than 1 bottle costs on Amazon.
So buy this stuff, dammit. And don’t put it in your hair. That’ll turn out badly for you.
