@troy I had to ask. Pretty sure spicy is the only l one I’ll like most. Went with the 1 of each pack cuz I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit to 2 gingerbread.
@metaphore@troy To me, the ingredients of the “gingerbread” could also have been characterized as “pie spice”, which sounds like a compatible flavor set. And a little habanero in a sweet syrup can do marvelous things. They had good enough reviews to get me to spring for those two.
@werehatrack I feel not calling it pumpkin spice was intentional. It’s probably fine and the flavors will be balanced and subtle. But I’ve been burned on too many things claiming to be pumpkin flavored that end up being a mouth full of cinnamon and clove, I’ve grown to hate/avoid anything pumpkin spice and super leary of anything just plain pumpkin.
Got the 2 coffee and 1 ginger mix.
Hoping it makes a tasty little add in treat to my morning coffee. And if not, it’ll make a nice little stocking stuffer gift since it would probably take me too long to use it on other stuff.
@Mandamm
Maple syrup is generally fine well past the BB dates (it’s essentially just sugar water so without any air infiltration it will not get moldy or lose taste too fast), and once it is open will keep fine in the fridge. If you are super anxious about it you could always store the unopened ones in the fridge too.
I buy mine at Aldi usually and it is not unusual to have it be past date if I happen to buy a few at a time.
@Mandamm It would keep its quality better in a glass container stored in a refrigerator, but this is one item where I doubt that it’s going to go bad anytime soon if unopened.
OK, I am intrigued enough by these to try one of each. Good price for maple syrup, esp organic Grade A. Ingredients list is very short which is always a plus.
I pay more than this at Aldi for 12oz of plain maple syrup.
Gonna look forward to winter and putting this in oatmeal and on pancakes/waffles
@PHRoG Thanks! I was just about to go check the price at Costco (our usual maple source). You saved me some searching.
So I guess this is basically the same price as we get at Costco, but with flavor added.
Also, comes individually wrapped in 3 tiny bottles… (okay, maybe not tiny, but I’m used to Costco’s medium size)
Hmm. I’m still undecided, but leaning towards “yes” on this one.
So I guess this is basically the same price as we get at Costco, but with flavor added
yeah, that was my take on it also.
One of the reasons I buy the Aldi version is it comes in a glass bottle that I can then re-use to gift smoked olive oil for folks. It is cheaper than buying bottles once you factor in shipping etc. Plus the size is convenient (for both uses).
@Bumplepimp Just a 20 minute drive from my house…Google Lusscroft Farms for an interesting history, and then Lusscroft Farms maple syrup for a look at the process. The place is an amazing step back in time, and the maple syrup is excellent.
At risk of Canada putting an arrest warrant out for me:
I truly loath Maple Syrup. Just smelling a hint of maple syrup in the air makes me want to vomit. I’ve never understood how anyone could willingly put that stuff in their mouths
I’d rather put the Sriracha sauce from the side deals on my pancakes… Not that that is a combination I typically go for… But do love Sriracha.
The whole point of maple syrup is that, well… it’s maple syrup-flavor. I grew up eating pancakes with that stuff that was 2% maple syrup and 98% plain sugar syrup. More recently, I’ve been using the Costco stuff. Adding flavoring to maple syrup kind of defeats the purpose of having it. However, the big exception is chicken & waffles, where a spicy maple syrup is delightful. But you can just add a few drops of Tabasco and mix it in. But I might try these just for the pure novelty…
@MrNews My husband and I love the gingerbread surup. We love to add a small dash of it to our half and half or milk while frothing it, add it to our coffee in the morning, it adds a great flavor and sweetness.
I wish i could have got a 3 pack of the gingerbread, but ill take a 2 pack of those and a spicy!
I bought these when they were offered before back in March 2021 (just plain maple & spicy flavors then). They are tasty so I ordered some more this time.
I have two Pennsylvania wood maple syrup buckets that you hang on a tree I use as waste baskets (bought in PA where they had been used for it’s original purpose). AND FROM CANADA a horse drawn maple syrup sleigh (where you pour the sap into a long tray that then is put over the heat to boil off the water) made into cool coffee table (bought at the Sandwich antique show in the early 1990’s).
My maple syrup though I buy from Trader Joe’s when I am in Houston.

Time to make the pancakes!
This sounds amazing but I’m sure it’s quality enough to be actual maple and I hate actual maple.
This shampoo smells great but now I’m covered in ants all the time.
0 information on the quality of maple syrup
@thechinglish Their website lists it as “Organic Grade A Maple Syrup”
@kyanostiger damn, really speaks to how lazy Meh is.
@kyanostiger @thechinglish Honestly, I can’t recall having any actual maple syrup that was bad.

@awk
Hey, what did they do to that kitten?
@awk @Lynnerizer this is how kittens are born
@awk @erthian
Silly me, I knew that!
Now, let’s order/blow me out one of those 30 thousand dollar beautiful himalayan show quality kittens!
Lol
I have a bottle of the spicy maple. It’s good–I agree with the blurb in the writeup, you can taste the habanero but it’s not too hot.
When that breakfast ramen came out earlier this year and I got some, the spicy maple syrup was my required add-in.
I’m tempted by this except I don’t actually use that much maple syrup. 3 bottles would probably last me a decade.
@djslack same to all except I couldn’t taste the spicy part.
I did get in on some of the hot sauces from the bonus Sidedeal. Trying to convince myself right now I don’t also need curry Sriracha.
Sounds interesting

I bought some before and it is really good maple syrup. I’m in for 3 of the spicy for chicken and waffles.
Here are the ingredients.
@cengland0
Thanks . That was most useful!
(but note this is not the size bottles on sale here… these are smaller)
@cengland0 I want one where the ingredients are just organic maple sugar.
@chienfou I was noticing 8 servings per container and thought they actually adjusted the servings to what people actually use.
/giphy lots of syrup
I’ve tried several of these and they have all been awesome! Spicy is my fav for sure tho.
PANS! GLANDS! CRAYONS! AWESOME!
@PHRoG I love the idea of these. Pure maple syrup is king in Vermont. Guess I like to keep maple syrup simple. Would not mind spicy waffles!
Need a Spicy + Gingerbread option in some form.
@kyanostiger Fine, fine! I added it
@kyanostiger @troy
Did you really just add that on request?
@troy and if you’re taking requests, can we get 2spicy, 1gingerbread?
Yeah. Two spicy and one gingerbread would have gotten me to pull the trigger on this.
@metaphore give an inch, take a mile
We are most limited on spicy, so once the 3pk spicy and other combos are gone, only the variety will remain.
@troy I had to ask. Pretty sure spicy is the only l one I’ll like most. Went with the 1 of each pack cuz I wasn’t sure I wanted to commit to 2 gingerbread.

Makes fantastic mapleritas.
I am not a big sweets guy, just a big guy. Maple is just too sweet for me.
@hchavers Try putting on pancakes or waffles or something, instead of drinking it straight?
Got the 2 coffee and 1 ginger mix.
Hoping it makes a tasty little add in treat to my morning coffee. And if not, it’ll make a nice little stocking stuffer gift since it would probably take me too long to use it on other stuff.
Overnight oats!!!

@mediocrebot @heartny Holy carp! That is pretty accurate.
@heartny @mediocrebot @yakkoTDI
How about this body part?
@heartny @Kyeh @mediocrebot Body part? I think you mean booty part.
@heartny @mediocrebot @yakkoTDI
Touché!
@heartny @Kyeh @mediocrebot @yakkoTDI Ahem. No touchy unless invited.
I have to go to the bathroom, just reading about it

@somf69 I had to go to the bathroom and I can’t even read!
Did anyone notice the best by dates? One of them probably won’t hit your porch before it’s up. Hmmm
@Mandamm
Maple syrup is generally fine well past the BB dates (it’s essentially just sugar water so without any air infiltration it will not get moldy or lose taste too fast), and once it is open will keep fine in the fridge. @Mandamm such dates are legally required…it’s really really hard for maple syrup to go bad if stored in a cool/dark place (aka, your fridge).
Worst case, it gets moldy and ya toss it. I have a bottle of the spicy from March 2021 and it’s as good as the day I got it.
@Mandamm I have a bottle of molasses I bought in the 90s and it still tastes fine.
@Mandamm It would keep its quality better in a glass container stored in a refrigerator, but this is one item where I doubt that it’s going to go bad anytime soon if unopened.
If it was inorganic maple syrup I would have been all over it.

@chienfou Just FYI: Costco is by far the best priced Grade A organic around. $13 for 34oz in store. $15 online: https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-organic-pure-maple-syrup%2C-33.8-oz.product.100333884.html
@PHRoG Thanks. Was just about to go to Costco.com to check the price.

Oh wow, smoked olive oil sounds delicious! And homemade, OH YUM!
Born in Brooklyn, NY
Combining sweet maple syrup from the Catskill Mountains…
Is it really maple syrup if it wasn’t ever kept than freed/robbed from a Canadian vault? The audacity. Humpf…
Dammit, this made me break my streak!
@JinksB
Wow … you must buy a LOT of stuff here!
Oh , wait… you mean you bought this stuff… my bad!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Not a deal. The real stuff is $50/gallon. You want to pay more than that for strange mixes of flavors?
Maple syrup NOT from New England? Just flush it already…
@Bumplepimp Welcome to the Canada Persona Non Grata List.

Wish there was a 2 spicy 1 coffee option, but I may pull the trigger on 2 coffee 1 spicy.

@playtek I did order the triple assortment, and Mrs News sounded pleased. Re the spicy, she immediately mentioned chicken & waffles…
Really? Like we see you there but we’re still ignoring you.

I think I bought it because it’s early and I need coffee.

Front of bottle says “Born in Brooklyn”. Back says the company is located in DC. Hmmmmm.
@werehatrack I was born in Michigan, I’m now in Minnesota. I can still claim being Michigan-born.
Businesses move, they sell, etc.
I got these the last time they came through here and they’re pretty good.
I love this syrup. The bottle last a long time if you’re not using it daily.
Love the spicy!
In for the variety pack. got the spicy stuff a year or so back… delicious!

Great stuff! I found it a couple years ago and loved it, but couldn’t find it anywhere. Stocking up now at a great price!..yummmm
It’s habanero, not habañero
@elwombato Yep.

I’m a little spicy so I figured why not?!?
The heat in the Spicy is mild and delayed. This is going to make some good eating.
This shipping delay is sad!
Mine finally just shipped
