Clean Your Auto

Agent Ford needed to focus. Which was difficult, given the situation.

General Oldes had broken the accord by stealing the fusion capacitor, and Agent Ford couldn’t possibly envision what the evil military man planned to do with it. He just knew he needed to stop him.

But it wouldn’t be easy. He was in enemy territory, miles from base, that little enclave of peace and safety. He could get there quickest if he cut through the woods, running along the ridgeline, but he was no forester. And besides, despite being a secret agent, stealth wasn’t exactly his forte. He didn’t cower. He was a charger, a challenger, a trailblazer.

And that’s what he was going to do: blaze a trail straight into the General’s compound.

But first, he needed to get himself in order. Retrieve his passport from its hiding place in the gym locker and then head to an arms depot for some high caliber weapons in case he got caught in some crossfire.

Moreover, while he didn’t mind coming in hot, he also didn’t want to draw too much unnecessary attention en route. Which meant, he needed to clean his car. After all, it had gotten pretty dusty when he lost his tail by cutting down a dirt service road. Luckily, he had some ScrubIt Chenille Microfiber Car Wash Sponges in his trunk. Plus a bucket. Plus some soap. And… uhhh… a whole bunch of water too.

He pulled off where his car wouldn’t be seen and got to scrubbing, chuckling to himself as he did. After all, his supervisor had told him this would be a simple in-and-out mission.

He was supposed to be playing golf in Malibu by now, or enjoying a cup of coffee brewed with 100% Kona beans while sitting on the porch of his cabin overlooking Lake Tahoe. Hell, he’d even considered heading to Santa Fe to hear a sonata performed by the philharmonic at some famed venue or another. Though maybe a rock show was what he needed, dancing straight through the set and into the encore.

But that would all have to wait until… when? He didn’t know. He’d feel lucky if he could wrap this thing up by the fall equinox at this point.

Finally, he finished cleaning his car and got behind the wheel. He needed to drive fast if he was going to get to his passport by sundown. It would be a long journey, no stops. Until he got to where he was going, his full-time job was driving, and to reinforce this, he looked at himself in the mirror, smiled, and said to his reflection: “You’re an FT driver now, Agent Ford, not some PT cruiser.”

Then he revved his engine and got back on the road.
