Henckels Rock! I have the Pro "S" version and they are truly Great knives. The Twin statue ones are better than the 1 statue versions just as a heads up.
@ChadP Yup, I was expecting the 1 Statue knives considering this is Meh.com. Are the knives also 2 statue or 1? Are they the "Pure" model knives? I can already see the block itself has the 2 statue.
@jsh139 You only need three knives. A paring knife. Check. A chef knife. Check. A long serrated knife for carving and bread... meh. This one, in my opinion, isn't long enough. But really, you only need three knives.
I don't Henckel knives. They are highly overrated and you have to constantly sharpen them; and why would you want a knife that can't hold an edge? These are mediocre knives at best, fitting for this site. Not sure it's worth the $88.
@DanielTheNerd I've owned Henckels most of my life growing up with them as a kid and then got my own, and also a Wusthof knives. Both great but if you get the better Henckels they are hard to beat.
@DanielTheNerd You don't Henckel knives? You don't what? I'm not sure why you think they constantly need sharpening. They don't. They hold an edge as well as any knife I've ever owned, and I've owned at least one of most of the big names. I finally settled on a set of Henckel Twin Stars, and I've never regretted the decision. I'm curious as to why you think Henckles can't hold an edge. Maybe you used the cheap import one stars? There are definitely two different classes of Henckel knives, and the price clearly reflects the difference. The cheap ones are stamped, the expensive ones are forged. The ones on sale today are forged.
I actually have this set- it was a gift. I have the knives in a drawer and stuffed the block with Victorinox... the Henckels are pretty, but for real kitchen work- they ain't as much fun as you'd think.
Good knives, however I doubt many are in the market. It appears to me that possibly Meh may be needing assistance in knowing what we desire and willing to buy. I shall list the things Meh should sell that I seek to purchase. 1) Cat trees. No not trees made of cats but furniture for my cats to lounge and spit hairballs upon. 2) A 1998-2004 GMC Safari. Under 150,000 miles please. 3) Any cool heater that won't burn my house down. 4) More of those comforters @$20 each please. 5) High quality, low price exercise equipment. Something like a Gold's Gym 420 would be nice. 6) Penut M&Ms, large bags, but only after you offer #5. 7) Random boxes of meh. 8) More vacuums. Just cause you know.
@KDemo Now that I could fap too. As far as the GMC no can do. See I tear up other peoples houses for a living then put it all back again. The Safari allows full 4x8 sheets of materials while hauling massive trailers. My first 95 Safari lasted to 267k miles. My current 96 has 297k miles. It is a workhorse and only $1-3k used. I buy em, abuse em and bury em when I'm done.
@Outofmymind I like the cat tree idea - especially if you can get your hands on that Cat Lotus tree in a light color - not that ugly dark brown. But don't get it soon as I have no money to buy.
Looking at the ones I have, it has the stamp on only one side. Why would meh decide to photograph the side without the stamp? What else would you expect out of a mediocre company.
Did the Cutco knife thing once, got the exact "value" marketing speak the write-up talks about. Bruce(or Bruth, because he had a lisp), always wanted us to be "fired up"... slipped quietly out of that job. Every sales pep talk scene you see in The Office is exactly how it is.
@Dash ahhh good ole Vector... $14.50 per hour (base appointment) - I made a nice chunk of money as a teen selling cutco (never did get paid for my "base appointments"). Double d edge was the rage - who could pass on a forever guarantee?
women always wanted them and i would get the hubby's approval when I sawed off tree branches or cut pennies in half with the meh scissors. all those extreme examples and then the next words out of my mouth when a customer pushed for smaller sets: "...right tool for the right job... rationally, less can never be more, so why go small when you just said you need more knives" (no clue why the last one worked, but hundreds of people knodded in agreement and most settled on the Homemaker set.
If I had to do it over again, I think I would walk out the minute this caricature of Michael Scott on MDMA (our actual manager) pranced around, fist pumping, and showering potential employees with aerosolized droplets of mehdiocrity as he extolled of the virtue and riches to be had in slingin' steel for the hard working folks in Olean, NY.
I still have my original sales kit and steak knives... My parents still have the stuff I won too - the knives have held up well over the years (they were made from parts of the space shuddle dontchyaknow?)
@Dash@tehtruth You both speak the TRUTH! Cutting the pennies with the Super Shears...my mom got the biggest kick out of that. Hell I think that was half of my sales just selling those damn scissors. Sold exactly one Homemaker...to my Dad and Stepmom. Hated the cold call aspect of it though. Still use my demo set/ plus all the freebies I got from the convention in Detroit the year I worked there. Never need another set in my opinion. Wife has absolutely no idea which knife to use when though. She defaults to using the white pearl steak knife for everything, and it bugs me. Did you also see they have them in red and silver now... OOOOOO!!!
@KJX My mom bought the homemaker. Im the only one that uses them though. Scissors get a lot of use though. My Aunt bought the 50 dollar ice cream scoop, and they tease me about it like 4 years after the fact because it was in fact made in China when only the KNIVES were made in the US(My sales manager forgot to tell us this.). However, they LOVE the dang thing and my cousin has already called it to be left to him in the will.
I would guess this is a cheaper line because the handles aren't riveted. That also makes me wonder if the knifes are full-tang or not, which could affect the balance of the knives.
@Vargas I bought a set of Victorinox last Xmas for wife. Those things are sharp sharp. The weird thing about those are 1 use and they are dull, but sharpen in 2 swipes to razor sharp again( when it comes to bread and tomatoes )
@cengland0 soft bread is the easiest with a non serratted knife! The problem is that most people dont have a truly sharp knife. The harder the crust, the more difficult to get a blade through. However, if you turn the loaf on its side, its usually easier to cut. Cleaner cuts, less crumbs, vote for nonserration 2014!
@Outofmymind the sharper the knife, the thinner the bevel, something more difficult to cut such as bread or tomatoes can slightly bend over the bevel. Because its thin, that also means easy correction as you pointed out.
@khunjeff I am assuming they thought it wouldn't sell super fast. Of all the things to sell out in a hour it had to be Chucky blades. I can just see the Friday part err meetings tomorrow. Add knives into the vacuum, speaker, cookware rotation STAT!
@Outofmymind Or they are tired of packing boxes for some of the other recent sales and so decided to day was the day to sell a low inventory item so they can get caught up LOL
@ceagee I'll look down for knives crossing the river later today as I'm currently in NJ and I'll be in DE this evening. I expect to see several speed boats readying for their knife smuggling runs.
Checked, meh...sold out. Clicked face. Soon wondered how many actually sold to sell out in under an hour, came back to look at sales numbers: 115. Weird. Love it.
That was a good deal on a good product. It took 93 days... but, that's to be expected on a mediocre site. Still ahead in the $$ department by avoiding the VMP, but anyway... good mediocre job meh.com.
@JonT eaaaaaasy Hoss... 1 for 93... not stellar numbers. You can drop me from the staff meetings, but don't pat yourself on the back too quick. shutting down the site does seem the next logical step though...
@unixrab Your image does not say, "set the bar low" to me at all. The opposite actually. It says, "damn, now THAT is setting HIGH expectations for the limbo dance."
@unixrab Wait, you didn't opt for VMP? And you count that as ahead? Currently, you could cancel VMP minutes after you sign up for it, and still get your full 30 days. So no choosing it seems unwise. What if you see another thing you want in the next 30 days? Then you'll pay an extra $5 for shipping!
@unixrab You're looking at it wrong... Think about it this way: if you are playing limbo, that ultra-low bar is the pinnacle! The zenith! The acme! @LisaZ Word on the street is they originally planned on 2000 knife sets. Unfortunately the pancake makers arrived in the warehouse first, therefore occupying said knife set space. In turn they had to cut back on the knife sets due to warehousing issues. (Uhh, right guys?)
@JonT yeah...that should tell you something. Whoever procured this product, let's give them a little bonus and hope to God that they mentor the other product people.
@unixrab There are different product people procuring things? I think, for the sake of transparency, we should see which employee procured what. Then we can see who's good and who sucks. Then we can vote out people like on Survivor.

Henckels Rock! I have the Pro "S" version and they are truly
Great knives. The Twin statue ones are better than the 1 statue versions just as a heads up.
@Stallion I just learned about the stick figures! That is such a cool little feature.
@ChadP Yup, I was expecting the 1 Statue knives considering this is Meh.com. Are the knives also 2 statue or 1? Are they the "Pure" model knives? I can already see the block itself has the 2 statue.
@Stallion Yes, Pure.
@ChadP Go Meh! The Pure model knives are Forged vs Stamped resulting in a superior blade. Nice! Very Nice!
@Stallion Yes. Forged for sure. They have a cool diagram on the packaging showing the process.
Dang thats a great deal...
er.. meh knives
Wat
I was hoping for something else. meh.
@Kyser_Soze do share
These knives are slashing prices! (I'll go to my corner, now.)
@Thumperchick
Only 3 knives? Meh!
@jsh139 You only need three knives. A paring knife. Check. A chef knife. Check. A long serrated knife for carving and bread... meh. This one, in my opinion, isn't long enough. But really, you only need three knives.
@phatmass I'll take a Santoku knife over a chef knife most of the time. And what about steak knives?
@jsh139 Steak knives are part of your silverware set. These knives are for preparing food and opening Meh boxes.
$199.95 @ Williams-Sonoma. And I could only find one review anywhere online.
If I could cook, maybe
@WilhelmScreamer Sheb Wooley, I presume?
gotta say, Henckels makes some quality knives. it a shame i already have too many.
@carl669 Agreed. This is a great gift too but I can't think of anyone that needs it.
Nope, need to CUT the price a bit more to make me bite.
Irk. Shirt.
good luck with your sale guys.
i'm sure value is great.
TGIF
@username i guess you didn't need much luck

@Stallion I completely agree. The cheap Henkels feel like cheap knives. The high end Henkels are outstanding and comparable in quality to the Wustofs.
FYI I bought that 8" chefs knife as a present to my gf (we needed a second chef) for $119 three years ago.
Sad I missed out on this deal as I could have used the second paring, saved chef in case I break a tip.
No cheese knife. For that alone . . .
Damn, I like this deal but I wish it had another knife instead of a sharpening steel... But I ordered it anyway...
i'm not permitted to have sharp objects
@vampje that must come with a worthy story or three
I actually have this set- it was a gift.
@Outofmymind
@Outofmymind: #1 - http://thepussycatriot.bigcartel.com/product/the-pussycat-riot-cat-protest-products-b It's $7000, but worth it, don't you think?
@KDemo Now that I could fap too. As far as the GMC no can do. See I tear up other peoples houses for a living then put it all back again. @Outofmymind im down for #3!! my bedroom is always colder than the rest of the house, winter is coming!!!!!!!!
and yet... sold out!
I have a set of these Henkels knives. Mine have the stamp on the knife showing their Henkels. The pictures on meh do not show that stamp. Why not?
Looking at the ones I have, it has the stamp on only one side. Why would meh decide to photograph the side without the stamp? What else would you expect out of a mediocre company.

I'm still using knives from the dollar store. I'm sure I'm missing superior cutting action or some such.
Good deal !!!
I would guess this is a cheaper line because the handles aren't riveted. That also makes me wonder if the knifes are full-tang or not, which could affect the balance of the knives.
@w4ffles_ Rivets are not necessarily indicative of full tang.
Boo serrated knives! We aren't cutting wood. Sharp knife is always better than a serrated one. Meh.
@Vargas Not when cutting soft bread.
@Vargas tomatoes. i really like serrated edges for tomatoes. other than that, I like a good sharpened piece of hitori hanzo steel.
@Vargas I bought a set of Victorinox last Xmas for wife. Those things are sharp sharp. The weird thing about those are 1 use and they are dull, but sharpen in 2 swipes to razor sharp again( when it comes to bread and tomatoes )

Are they cheaper because there are four slots available and someone forgot to make knives for them?
Everyone seems to agree, you only need three knives:

Wow, there weren't many of those.
@khunjeff I am assuming they thought it wouldn't sell super fast. Of all the things to sell out in a hour it had to be Chucky blades. I can just see the Friday part err meetings tomorrow. Add knives into the vacuum, speaker, cookware rotation STAT!
@Outofmymind Gotta wonder how many people bought this for the knives and how many people bought this for reselling.
@Collin1000 personally, I bought it for the knives
@Outofmymind Or they are tired of packing boxes for some of the other recent sales and so decided to day was the day to sell a low inventory item so they can get caught up LOL
Wow, talk about a quick sell out. Was that 2nd fastest to the Fukubukuro???
Guess that solves my dilemma of deciding to buy these.
So close to doing this all day
Sold out after 115 purchases? Weird.
@easterplatypus Yeah... :/
@easterplatypus - Delaware is really lit up. Wonder if that means a lot of them went to Korea?
@KDemo Delaware is neighbors w/ New Jersey. Just saying'.
@ceagee I'll look down for knives crossing the river later today as I'm currently in NJ and I'll be in DE this evening. I expect to see several speed boats readying for their knife smuggling runs.
@Cinoclav Be very very careful. Oh wait. You're the NJ person the DE peeps are worried about. "It's not a gang it's a club"
@easterplatypus Was sold out at around 1:30am EST too... O_o
@ceagee Actually, I'm a PA person. I only work in Jersey and I'm headed to my friend's in DE after work.
@Cinoclav that just blew my mind a little bit. I've lived in Texas most of my life and really can't imagine being in three states in one day
@Kleineleh If it makes it any more interesting, I'll be in Maryland and Virginia on Saturday. Small possibility of going through Washington DC. :)
Checked, meh...sold out. Clicked face. Soon wondered how many actually sold to sell out in under an hour, came back to look at sales numbers: 115. Weird. Love it.
Henckels are freaking amazing. They'll last for decades.
The more quantity... plz meh~
I missed it. Sad.
Anyone wanna trade this for a slightly worn "meh" shirt and a box full of 'as seen on tv" things when they come in?
@Ua2 I'll trade you a half eaten cookie and a package of Shirataki noodles (The Blasphemous Pasta) for your As Seen On TV crap. Deal?
@Guy767 hmm what type of cookie.....
i have them they rust bought from bead bath and beyond 3 years ago they started showing rust spots before 1 year.
@frankiebeans Probably because of the high carbon content. Carbon-steel blades need to be cleaned and dried after use.
it's 9am EDT and sold out. Can this really be called a "daily" deal? More like "morningly available" deal
I have no choice but to Meh... meh!
Oh no, I missed this
It was such a sharp bargain
Regret and despair
@Guy767 Oooh, Haiku AND knife pun in one! Bonus points sir!
@jsh139 I see you've played Knifey-Spoony before...
That was a good deal on a good product. It took 93 days... but, that's to be expected on a mediocre site. Still ahead in the $$ department by avoiding the VMP, but anyway... good mediocre job meh.com.
Reset the counters @snapster
@unixrab So glad we finally got your approval, it's the only thing we were working towards this entire time. We can shut down the site now.
It says, "damn, now THAT is setting HIGH expectations for the limbo dance."
it's half-empty @phatmass , adjust your optimism.
@Thumperchick Shhh... It's those that don't sign up for it that make up for those of us abusing it!
@Thumperchick also adjust your optimism - obviously my $ is on NOT seeing a product that I want within 30 days.
@unixrab I'm going to very much enjoy it if you do see something else in the next 30 days. :)
@Thumperchick
@unixrab You're looking at it wrong... Think about it this way: if you are playing limbo, that ultra-low bar is the pinnacle! The zenith! The acme! The apogee!
🎶Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack go under limbo stick... All around the limbo clock, hey let's do the limbo rock!! (how low can YOU go?)🎶
@curtise no
@unixrab yes
@unixrab SWEET COMBO OF LIMBO!
@curtise
@curtise
@JonT I know, it's amazing, eh?
@unixrab
@curtise
@unixrab As you wish.
@Thumperchick sweet talker :-*
You have a bajillion crap campfire pancake makers in stock and only 112 Henkels that sell out by 1030am? sigh
Fail.
@LisaZ It was actually sold out before 1:00am Eastern. :)
@LisaZ Word on the street is they originally planned on 2000 knife sets. Unfortunately the pancake makers arrived in the warehouse first, therefore occupying said knife set space. In turn they had to cut back on the knife sets due to warehousing issues. (Uhh, right guys?)
@LisaZ You could have had a knife if you'd bought the pancake makers.
@phatmass God I hope there's more than one product procurement person... otherwise the one doing it needs some remedial tutoring.
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh.
Free Todd Gurley.
Stuff keeps selling out. Guess I'll have to check before I go to bed. Next day isn't working.
I'm liking both halves of today's meh face.
What happened to the calendar at the bottom of the page to see what I missed so far this month?
@jfeiner still there, it'll be faces if you've clicked the meh button or dots if you haven't. It's on the main page meh.com
