@grammarsheriff Dayton is usually the house brand for Grainger, which is higher-end stuff with excellent reliability. If that’s where this came from, I have no idea why it ended up here, but this might be a hell of a deal.
@grammarsheriff@werehatrack Was Dayton ALWAYS a Grainger brand? My brain wants to tell me no. I see the brand so often (same logo) that I’d be surprised if all of it came from Grainger exclusively for its entire history.
Let’s hope that tomorrow’s deal is a carbon monoxide sensor although in any moderately confined space the CO2 might get you first. I’m struggling to find a home use for this that would be safe. Definitely outside, maybe on a deck?
@gfreek Not unless you leave the door open… (a little ventilation really won’t cut it). On the plus side, at least CO poisoning leaves you a lovely rosy red color.
First I think “Torpedoes are supposed to be quiet, the run silent thing.” Then I think, “A quiet blast heater so no one knows it’s on.” That second thought scared me away.
I owe my meh button streak to my son. At 11:58 someone said “it’s almost his birthday, 2 minutes to go” and then I thought… Oh crap, I haven’t been to Meh today, my 200 something day streak will be ended. Logged on at 11:59 to click the meh button and was ready to sing happy birthday at midnight.
I’ve never made it a whole year on a click-streak… I will this time but that was a close call.
What is there left to inspire me after I get to 365?
Dunno about you, but for me, it’s just a matter of having damned little else to claim bragging rights about anymore. (I’m at 352, and I’ll be at 362 on the morning that I check into the hospital for what is supposed to be six days, if things go well. If they go wrong, I’ll be back out that same morning, and not very happy.)
Yeah, I’m really down to being just that pathetic. Maybe I’ll be less of a disaster sometime next month, if nothing goes wrong. (Yeah, right.) December is never a good time for me.
I’m sad there’s no reference to the original nomenclature of this device, a salamander heater. Missed great last panel photoshop art by meh for the product.
If you want to hang out, you’ve gotta take her out, propane
If you want to get down, down on the ground, propane
She don’t lie, she don’t lie, she don’t lie
Propane
If you got bad news, you want to kick them blues, propane
When your day is done, and you want to run, propane
She don’t lie, she don’t lie, she don’t lie
Propane
If your day is gone, and you want to ride on, propane
Don’t forget this fact, you can’t get it back, propane
She don’t lie, she don’t lie, she don’t lie
Propane
I got up this morning thinking, “What could I buy that would be a supremely inefficient use of fossil fuels and cost under $100 so I could pay for it with the Visa gift card I got for Christmas?” Then I thought, “How could I heat my 36.75 x 36.75 sf back yard?” Meh, you came through for me!
@ItalianScallion But you would need nine 12x12 pop-up canopies and a set of side curtains around the outer perimeter, or that heat’s all just going to be lost…

@grammarsheriff @Hanky @werehatrack Now that is a Dayton I know is unrelated! Haha
@grammarsheriff @werehatrack Yeah, it’s currently available from Grainger for $332.86!!

WARNING: FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY
@alacrity yeah I’m surprised this warning isn’t in the specs or like the first line of the write up
@alacrity @thechilipepper0 Welp, there goes the crisco fry-in.
$100 for similar (Craftsman) at Lowes
@jake5snooze The Craftsman model has a year long warranty while this one from Meh is just 90 days.
Looks like Lucien’s pinky wasn’t his only issue… Santa Clause?? No Christmas bonus for that slacker!
@ircon96 Tim Allen has been misleading people for years about the correct spelling of Santa’s name.

@ergomeh Quick heat for a detached garage with a little ventilation…about $20 cheaper than comparable heater
@gfreek Not unless you leave the door open… (a little ventilation really won’t cut it). On the plus side, at least CO poisoning leaves you a lovely rosy red color.
@ergomeh would be great for heating a greenhouse through the winter.
@ewitt Ah! Yes that’s definitely true. An excellent use since your “herbs” will benefit from the added CO2.

Could you preheat a hot air balloon with this?
@Euniceandrich I think it’s a bit small for that.

@OnionSoup Happy Birthday to your son!
We all need something to live for, @OnionSoup.
@chaosdreamer I will pass on the message.
@mehwootmania the thing is… What is there left to inspire me after I get to 365? 730… Or is that just being ridiculous?
Sometimes the book ends, @OnionSoup, and you have to pull another one off the shelf.

Listen Julian, I don’t give a quack what you do anymore, I just want a little propane propane. It’s time to start the flame…

@werehatrack But then it wouldn’t be the required “open environment” = a supremely inefficient use of fossil fuels.
