BTW the wrong team won. Since then have been walking around on incredibly painful feet, looking at the long lines for food and drink. Looking at the long lines for rides and exhibits.
Why we have state fairs:
Football
Rides
Spend money. They use coupons, so I small coke prob costs $15. Haven’t worked it out. Someone stood in line and bought me coupons. Which I won’t use cause my feet hurt too much to stand in line.
Walk till you wanna have your feet removed.
Fried everything. Esp stuff you never imagined.
And
Somewhere there is a gigantic steer carved of butter.
Notes. The State Fair runs for 24 days. The pretty notable college games are played each year during the run.
Fair Park is 244 acres. It can take a long time to wander around it.
Fair Mark contains some really lovely Art Deco architecture from the late 1920’s and early 1930’s.
One example is the Centennial Building
The Hall of State
Most of these buildings often contain permanent historical exhibits.
The Art Museum had already moved to just north of downtown. The science exhibits have been gathered into the newish Perot Museum of Science.
One more thing - it turns out you can get a notable sunburn in October at this latitude. I am a @f00l.
I went to the Texas state fair a few years ago, and it was so much fun! The day before @Del gave me an awesome tour of Woot! HQ, and the following night I had many a beer with @ADQ. It was a great trip.
Didn’t we burn that guy?
@Ignorant
He came back. Your fault he burned tho.
@f00l
The good old days.
Tagging @adq because her Nice Shirt podcast was how I learned about Big Tex.
@narfcake Is that what she’s doing now in her post-Woot career?
@dashcloud Nope. The weekly podcasts with Ochopika was when she was at Woot.
I blame @ignorant that the last few are upside down.
@narfcake
I can’t see them after they load, cause the cell towers are a bit overloaded. The page won’t fully load images.
Are they upside down?
@narfcake
Fried ice cream
Fried cookie dough
Fried bacon
Fried lobster tails
Fried butter
Fried ice cream
Fridge PB&J
Fried chorizo
Fried chocolate
Fried funnel cake
Fried pepperoni pizza
Fried cotton candy
Fried salad
And there’s so much more.
@f00l Yeah they are. So again, @ignorant’s fault.
The deep fried everything is similar to the county fair over here.
@narfcake
Forgot fried jello

Oh yeah lots of erudite football talk. My folk wanna keep Charlie Strong. In spite of his failure to win a national championship every 10 min.
@f00l What’s wrong with your feet?
/youtube these boots are made for walking
@compunaut
Wearing fancy running shoes. If I were wearing Justin’s perhaps my feet would not hurt so much.
@f00l Are those fried cheesecake chicken tenders, or fried cheesecake AND chicken tenders?
@ELUNO
Gosh I don’t know

@f00l The Hall of State looks like the League of Justice!
Big Tex ate the Wi-Fi. He had it deep fried in a stick of butter, along with women’s healthcare access.
@Thumperchick
He’s always been a big fella. Always hungry like that.
