I still put Rick rolls into all my apps. We have about 8000 people in our organization, so when I have to put a person picker in an app, I always slip the name Rick Astley in. If someone picks it it Rick Rolls them.
Hopefully we never get an employee named Rick Astley because that could get annoying
@OnionSoup The last time I tried to slip anything fun into an app, I got in trouble and was required to remove it. (Technically I left it there, but commented out.)
It was just a more fun version of an error message. For a bug that was stubborn to diagnose. So I made the error message more fun as my last act after being told we wouldn’t fix it.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fwiw, I love the person picker rickroll idea. If I’m ever in a spot to make one of those, Rick Astley is going in the list (at least for testing purposes).
@xobzoo my boss is extremely laid back and and has a great sense of humour, there’s only a few of us programmers in the IT department too, so everything is very informal. I’ve only once been told to remove something fun, most people were fine with it but one person complained- I had a button “My Work” with a ball and chain icon on it. One of the older employees complained.
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten non-YouTube video to work right…
Sorry, Meh doesn’t embed video nicely, and it swallows up the link I attempted to make. Edit:The other style of Markdown link works; I’ve always done the inline version and never expected they would behave differently.
Anyway, see a video on Imgur. Probably (if I was more diligent and/or less lazy) I could find it on YouTube. Meh.
Actually last time was Friday at the Woot happy hour.

I’m wearing this shirt at this very moment.
Been awhile since meh created a new video. Is this new?
@medz Well, YouTube says it was posted
Dec 4, 2024
, so (at least in that sense) it’s new.What I’m wondering is if it signals more videos being created….
Also uploaded the same day:
which already has 14k views, despite the existing 7.5-year-old version (with 34k views)

Okay, I gave up too quickly last time.
Here’s a YT version, so you don’t have to click an untrusted link and leave the Meh forum.
Though, ironically, if you click on that link you are expecting to get rickrolled, so it’s all fair.
@xobzoo dessert spoons
@xobzoo Marvelous!
He’s got a great sense of humor.
