@Barney years ago (probably about 20) there was a purple Lamborghini Diablo sitting in the driveway of a house probably worth less than half the price of the car on the way to my high school. It had a tarp over it that was weighted down with flowerpots. The front fascia was cracked and it made me sad.

Turns out it belonged to the older brother of a guy a friend of mine knew. He was in jail for selling drugs, surprise. I was trying to figure out how to put money together to try to buy it, figuring he needed to pay lawyers. But i had zero chance of getting together even enough money to buy a crack dealer Lamborghini at the time.

@Barney it went away after a few weeks or so, but i never found out the story. The guy’s brother and my friend were not close, just close enough that he got the initial story.

Thanks to federal seizure laws. Sounds good on paper until we are where we are today with local and state police making up for budget cuts through seizure programs (“you keep what you sieze/confiscate”, no due process, it’s basically legalized theft).

@Barney @mike808 while it’s no hellcat, I have an NA with a 306 and T5 that desperately needs me to finish it… sadly it’s been on the back burner to the rest of life for a while now. Started when i had little money and plenty of time, but now I’ve turned that into pretty much the opposite problem with some money and little time.

Re the seizure, I don’t know if that was prevalent in the late 90s. It obviously wasn’t impounded as part of his arrest but I suppose it could have been seized later, maybe after conviction or something.
