@KDemo The Six Flags in my state is doing clowns as part of their fright fest. I’m surprised they didn’t change as we’ve had issues with stupid people dressing as clowns and scaring children. Attention clowns at Six Flags over Georgia, you scare one of my grand babies I will hunt you down. I feel bad for real clowns who just want to entertain losing jobs because of bored idiots.
@mehbee - I’m not really sure what they’ve been up to, I’ve just been hearing about creepy clowns on the outer edges of my attention. Is that how they get you? I’m scared.
@KDemo Yeah they follow kids around and torment them or jump out at them and scare them. I have heard but never had it verified that there was one instance of a clown trying to get a child to follow them into the woods but who knows. Just scaring kids is wrong. I thought this was fairly recent but FB had some memories for me the other day and one was from 2014 and I was talking about an article regarding clowns messing with kids, pretty much word for word what is going on now. So it’s possible this is not new. Shame idiots have to ruin good things. They may honestly just be stupid people who have jumped on a prank band wagon but as far as I am concerned they better back off. I can be a MEAN Grams.
@mehbee clowns have been creepy for a long time… It’s always been a part of Halloween. If they change their ways, those people will ruin Halloween. Pogo the clown was a serial killer. That didn’t stop people from being real clowns. Unfortunately there’s always going to be bad apples. We can’t change everything because of that.
@RiotDemon I’m more worried(and yes it’s a little paranoid) about one of those bad apples blending in with the genuine, just for scary good fun clowns, and messing with a kid. I agree we shouldn’t let the terrorists(get it terror-ists) win, but I can see one of those idiots taking advantage of the situation. I also know children watch TV and lots of them know about the clowns…in some areas there has been hysteria because of this crap. A child was out walking around with her new Halloween costume and someone called 911. It’s not rational behavior I know but as you said, clowns have always caused strong reactions. I usually go with my grandkids to fright fest. I will be having a conversation with them first this year to make sure the clowns won’t scare them to death. I’m sure Six Flags had this all planned out before the hoopla started and don’t blame them but if any of my grandkids have seen the news and get upset that there will be clowns, we’ll be skipping it and that’s sad. Yes, I know there will be witches and zombies and all those scary things but they have always been told that they are not real. Here are news stories where adults are saying clowns are trying to hurt or scare children, it makes them real. Sometimes the terrorists win when you want to protect the little ones. I wouldn’t stop going because of it as an adult though, I will go and dare one of them to be a fake scary clown(that sounds so crazy in my head)
@conandlibrarian Yeah there have been several reported sightings that were either hoaxes or just scared adults jumping to conclusions, that does not negate the actual instances that happened. I’m sure the children that were tramatized by these idiots don’t care about, and aren’t comforted, by the fact that SOME of the sightings were not real.
And it’s a damn shame that Ronald has to stop doing his thing because of it.
@mehbee if Fright Night is anything like Halloween Horror Nights, they don’t let people bring in or wear costumes. It’s the last place I’d be worried.
I’m bummed because on Halloween, I go to a friend’s house to scare people that want candy. I’ve already been threatened, and I don’t even dress like a clown. I don’t chase people. I don’t touch people. I usually just stand around, or walk up and down his driveway. People are so paranoid now, it made me feel threatened. I was just standing on the side of the driveway, while people were taking photos of me… And I actually had a guy tell me that I’m lucky his friends weren’t carrying right then.
Seriously? Should I call the cops? Wtf is wrong with people… I wish I would of told him off, but I just stayed in character and stayed quiet.
@RiotDemon Well that’s just awful. You weren’t chasing anyone down the road like the idiots (that’s all I can think to call them) or doing anything threatening. Someone would have to threaten my babies for me to get in their face. I didn’t think about the fact that Six Flags probably doesn’t let someone come into the park in a costume. That makes me feel better. You saw where I mentioned a kid was wearing their new Halloween costume and a neighbor called 911. It’s just insane all because a small group of people decided that chasing and threatening children was fun. I love clowns. Pisses me off that good ones are being lumped in with the bad.
@mehbee one of the articles @conandlibrarian linked above mentioned that there was a q&a on facebook with a police department and people were asking if it was ok to shoot clowns walking around. Uhm, what! If it’s not doing anything bad, no you can’t shoot it! Scary. I hope no honest clowns get hurt because of this.
Garlic bread? Is that the name of an up-and-coming Italian-American rapper?
Creepy chia clown.

@mehbee It seems like many of the sghtings have been hoaxes. Time.com did a nice article about it. And now, poor Ronald has been pulled into this.

@ELUNO yep. I’m hoping I don’t get any upsetting comments this year. It takes a lot of the fun out of it for me.
I enjoy the people that think I’m creepy but still want a photo with me.
