um... i think i have an old one in the car... i know i left one in hawaii, and tahoe, and vegas, and... hell- i had a bunch of em, but now i use a Qi charger and ain't "plugged in" in a couple years... meh.
I have one in the living room... One at the office... One in the bathroom... one on the headboard... One in my purse... One in the diaper bag...one in each laptop bag... One in the car....
My old phone died quickly and I'm paranoid about this one...
Vampire energy. A bunch of people checked "plugged into the wall . . .". Do you know that chargers leak energy if they're plugged in, but not charging something? Also if they remain plugged in after the phone or whatever is fully charged. It's called Vampire energy. https://alumni.stanford.edu/get/page/magazine/article/?article_id=29053 Tell people you know - Hope this saves energy.
@SIMBM That's pretty close to what I computed there. From the article posted "According to the Berkeley Lab's testing, cell phone chargers in no load mode consume around 0.26 watts, and laptop chargers, 4.42 watts." Also @KDemo, according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standby_power, "a modern HD LCD television may use less than 1 W in standby mode"
@nadroj - I have an answer, I'll post it tonight from home. @SIMBM - I'm pretty sure I'm noticeably saving on my elec bill by unplugging my cable box during the day.
I'm at work; there's a charge cable in a drawer, but that's just because I haven't brought it home yet. At work, "they" (the Powers That Be) recently issued a ban on all personal electronics that can store data or transmit. So, basically anything that runs on a battery. Which reminds me, I have to make an appointment with the security office to see if they will clear my scientific calculator (I'm an Engineer) and my blood-glucose meter. :-|
@PocketBrain I really wonder: if the people who make those rules had to watch a video, a week after that meeting, to look for flaw in their logic, if they would see how stupid those rules are?
@PocketBrain Leave your head at home. The best electronic device for data storage any of us have is the grey matter between our ears. Not only can it record data, it can evaluate and advance in it. Since you work there we must assume you understand and have the training and tools to make actual use of that data, which makes you doubly dangerous.
@PocketBrain This reminds me of how my workplace has recycling bins and in the same email told us paper should go into those bins instead of the trash and that anything with any company information on it is confidential and cannot go into the recycle bin...
@AltairDusk I'm waiting for someone to start manufacturing a commercial shredder that clips on the big recycle bins the same way the home ones clip on a small trash can.
@Teripie We recently switched to VOIP at work, so nope. It's convenient, because when the servers are down we can't even work on the phone, so it's wander and chat.
In for 4 of each - great deal! I just gave my daughter one of the usb cables that came with the last Tuesday deal I bought, and I was regretting not buying more. This was perfect timing.
"Phone Cable"? I haven't had a phone in years that took a special cable... They've all used standard USB variants, going back to my Moto Razr, that charged via USB Mini(used for LOTS of stuff not just phones), and almost every phone since then has been Micro USB, but my Digital Camera, TomTom, and many others use that too... so, not sure what this "phone cable" you speak of is...
Awaiting direction. Need help finding this thing...

Plugged into this device at the moment.

@KDemo Interesting. So is the save money and the planet value greater than the value of not losing the cable?
@KDemo You're right. My 0.26W * 24 hrs/day * 365 days/year ~= 2.3 kWh/year . I think I'll just spend that quarter for the added convenience.
@moondrake - apparently it depends on who you ask. I'm frustrated with people that have no concern for the world beyond their own wallet.
@smyle A good rule of thumb (not always that accurate) is that 1 Watt-year costs about $1.
@KDemo How does that compare to leaving a television plugged in while turned off?

@PocketBrain Yay for stupid rules.

In the car, outside in the car park; I can usually keep my phone topped up on the commute.
I thought the poll was about "phone" phone cable, landlines. Does anyone still have one of those?
@Teripie I do.
@Teripie We recently switched to VOIP at work, so nope. It's convenient, because when the servers are down we can't even work on the phone, so it's wander and chat.
@Teripie I never understood why people would tie their phone to a wall and name it Jack. Weird traditions in some households.
@Teripie Landline at home doesn't go down when Comcast (often) does. One at work keeps working when all other services die.
