@Bogie Gosh, that's not quite the same as "Never" now, is it?
I do admit to choosing that option, though. I suppose it's the second half of clicking the meh button. I just feel that I have to choose one, even if there's no option that really makes sense (as in this case).
@bmf Its interesting, people use headphones while watching porn to be considerate of others even though the act of watching porn is a selfish activity onto itself.
@elimanningface Pretty sure people use headphones while watching porn less out of consideration for others and more for the sake of "don't really want the whole world to know I'm havin' a wank".
@nadroj I've seen grown men, cops, shove unfired .40 cal bullets into their ears as hearing protection. The gun barrel in the ear doesn't surprise me one bit.
I'd have to say I use them the most on my head. More specifically, usually over the top and covering my ears. Sometimes I have them on my ears w/ the u shaped part hanging under my chin. Sort of upside down you could say. Of course, a lot of the time they just hang around my neck.
Hey @Thumperchick I did have a friend attach them on her belly so her unborn baby could listen to music. Other than that, I really don't know where else anyone would use them. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
@Thumperchick "Leave Your Sleep" by Natalie Merchant comes in both a 2 CD format and a book +CD ( not as many songs but the book is oh so lovely) She took nursery rhymes & poems and wrote music for them. I was fortunate to see her in concert singing along w/ local philharmonic orchestra when this first came out. Amazing. I bought both the CD and book+CD ! At her website you can listen to all the music on this Album. The hardcover book that is so beautifully illustrated can be viewed there on a little video. It gives a little sampler of the music too. If I had to pick just one, I would get the book.
I bet if you buy some lullabies and baby specific music, you will remember to give baby a listen. Although, you will probably want to listen too !
@Thumperchick Baby ears are so sensitive. Although I'm sure you probably won't do it, please don't put the earphones near those developing ears. They'll be able to hear all that Rockabilly stuff you're dancing to just fine.
I read Shakespeare to my daughter while I was pregnant, and other similar things. The cadence of his work was something that stuck. To this day, Romeo and Juliet is one of her favorites, as are the Sonnets. I also read her Doctor Seuss (One Fish, Two Fish and a couple of others).
I must defer to @Shrdlu about the headphones, as I have never been pregnant. In my defense I did say "a friend" did that, so... whatever.
I will however stand by my Natalie Merchant Illustrated Book and CD recommendation-- the nieces and nephews loved it ! (me too ) I fully agree with @Shrdlu about the poetry. My dad read me poems every night before bed from the get go. I love poetry because of that.
Books are wonderful, and illustrations are important. When she was a bit older (perhaps three or so), and we'd finished the last of the three Mary Poppins books from the library, she wanted to go and get the next one. She was devastated to hear that there wasn't one, and wouldn't be one. We compromised by starting over, and reading them all again.
Ah, Mrs. Humper, such an excellent time in life this is for you. I also wanted to say thank you for the "Trump Paint" which I have shared elsewhere.
Now I want to go drag out "The Tawny Scrawny Lion" (and yes, read it aloud, to myself, which is as it should be).
Once there was a tawny scrawny lion who chased monkeys on Monday—kangaroos on Tuesday—zebras on Wednesday—bears on Thursday—camels on Friday—and on Saturday, elephants!
when i want to surround myself with relatively loud music, when i sit in a coffee shop to drown out people trying to be self important, when i stream tv shows at home when someone is watching THE TV in real time.
I use headphones while at work almost every day to drown out the noise of every person around me feeling the need to eat carrots/celery/corn nuts and other SUPER crunchy foods with their mouths open.
Since I'm at work, I'm limited to headphones that go behind the head instead of over the top. Don't want to mess up my hair, ya know.
To listen/watch TV after the other half goes to bed.
Never. Where's the option for never?
@Perkalicious I'm with you. That's my choice too. Never.
@Shrdlu @Perkalicious "Some other answer you'll whisper in our forum's ear" is your option.
Taadaa
@Bogie Gosh, that's not quite the same as "Never" now, is it?

@Bogie That's why I whispered my answer here in the forum.
I use mine for TV and (console) games.
What's a headphone?
@Cerridwyn Most ppl use them for porn.
@Cerridwyn where is everybody else putting their phone when they call Mom?
@bmf Its interesting, people use headphones while watching porn to be considerate of others even though the act of watching porn is a selfish activity onto itself.
@elimanningface Haha, good one. That was funny.
@elimanningface Pretty sure people use headphones while watching porn less out of consideration for others and more for the sake of "don't really want the whole world to know I'm havin' a wank".
@brhfl I'm still trying to stop giggling over the "selfish activity" part.
Grocery shopping so I don't have to hear asshole kids screaming for everything while their terrible parents act like they don't exist.
@jbrookebarrow so you use them to become like their terrible parents? :)
@thismyusername I like to pretend none of them exist.
I'm waiting for someone from Texas or the Florida pan handle to say they use headphones on the firing range. meh.
@elimanningface Redneck Riviera?
@elimanningface Those are "hearing protection", not "headphones"
@nadroj I've seen grown men, cops, shove unfired .40 cal bullets into their ears as hearing protection. The gun barrel in the ear doesn't surprise me one bit.
To watch roller derby divisionals and champs.
headphones? Who uses headphones? that's so 80's
To really hear the music, man.
Like, it gets all up inside your head.
I'd have to say I use them the most on my head. More specifically, usually over the top and covering my ears. Sometimes I have them on my ears w/ the u shaped part hanging under my chin. Sort of upside down you could say. Of course, a lot of the time they just hang around my neck.

@ceagee I've been getting that advice, honestly, I don't know if I'll ever remember to do it.
@Thumperchick Pump Pink Floyd and/or The Grateful Dead into every womb - should be a law.
@Pavlov Kid will come out with The Wall just stuck in her head for a year. Could do worse things to her...

@ceagee @Shrdlu - What it's like watching people give parenting advice.
@Thumperchick Oh it looks like it's my serve !
I must defer to @Shrdlu about the headphones, as I have never been pregnant. In my defense I did say "a friend" did that, so... whatever.

Your turn @Shrdlu ! :D
@ceagee Thanks for letting me know I was up next.

In the mouse room. I use Bluetooth speakers in my lab.
when i want to surround myself with relatively loud music, when i sit in a coffee shop to drown out people trying to be self important, when i stream tv shows at home when someone is watching THE TV in real time.
My son and I use headphones at our side by side computers then IM to talk. Also cooking and cleaning are less of a chore while rocking loudly.
When I'm working on a project and need to tune out the noise in my house. I can work twice as fast that way, and with better results.
Train for me. While I usually just sleep, sometimes it's nice to soak up some music (and, well, then fall asleep, I guess).
@brhfl That used to be me. I remember using headphones to listen to my Discman on the train. Ah, memories.
@pitamuffin I do not miss worrying about the buffer on a Discman, that's for sure!
@brhfl Good call. Headphones/earbuds are a requirement for me to deal with air travel.
On my ears.
Noise cancelling headphones when I fly and when mowing the lawn. Other than that, pretty much never.
Headset for conference/telephone calls. Otherwise, never.
Here at work. I write documents with headphones on because OH GOD THE NOISE.
Excuse me, but do you guys sell speaker docks? :-|
