Coffee/caffeine has no impact on me waking/sleeping. (Warmth of coffee more likely to calm me than caffeine is to keep me awake).
On one hand it sucks that I can’t drink coffee to get a boost. On the other hand, it’s great I don’t have to look at the clock before drinking a cup and I never have withdrawal headaches if I stop drinking it for a few days or a few weeks.
@Kyeh cold showers … A cat having a hairball while laying on top of me… I’m a light sleeper so, leaving the light on, or any sound will keep me awake… Not focused just unable to sleep
If I take one Pseudofed, I won’t sleep for the next two nights. I’ll be sleepy and no more focused but I’ll be unable to sleep.
As for food/drink though, no. No food or drink improved my focus.
@OnionSoup “any sound will keep me awake… Not focused just unable to sleep” is what happened when I drank coffee all day and night. I didn’t feel an energy boost or better focus when I drank it, nor did I have problems falling asleep. All night long I would wake up, sometimes falling right back to sleep, other times not.
@callow my insomnia is almost certainly genetic… My son has it. My Dad has it, my grandfather had it. In the case of me, my Dad, and my Grandfather it got somewhat better with increased age. I’m hoping my son will find sleep as he ages too.
I didn’t really start drinking coffee until my 30’s which coincidentally is around the time I started to sleep a little better. Since then, I have actually tried giving up caffeine several times, and twice gone over a month without any… With no affect positive, or negative.
If I can get a nap, I do that. Otherwise, go walk around, while doing stretches helps my blood get going around a bit better. Eat something light, drink water, play music that gets me pumped. Caffeine doesn’t really wake me up, but it does give me restless leg syndrome lol
I’ve never been a fan of naps, but as I’m getting older I keep getting run over by the nap truck. I rarely see it coming, and on the few occasions that I do, I’m seldom able to avoid it.
SLEEP!!
Take a nap
@heartny Usually a nap takes me.

@OnionSoup So is there anything that does wake you up?
@Kyeh @OnionSoup Same here. Hot coffee is a sleep aide not a sleep fighter.

@OnionSoup Huh! @yakkoTDI, how about you?
@Kyeh @OnionSoup The sound of a cat about to have a hairball will wake me from the dead. Always going for the carpet. Near a corner.

@Kyeh @OnionSoup I just wake up. I am lucky to have pretty steady energy levels all day.
@OnionSoup @yakkoTDI That IS lucky!

Nap time for me too.
Get moving and stop thinking about how tired I am or that I want sleep.
Naps make me more tired.
