When was the last time you Meh'd a purchase?
6Just evaluating my $5 VMP donation by looking at my order history.
My last purchases were the Valentine’s Fuko, some collapsible water bottles I clearly don’t need as they’re both still in the box, and bunch of Strollelegant socks from February 2nd (which I rather like).
So 3 items purchased on 110 offerings (as of today). Not sure I’m feeling so Meh lately.
Also, happy 4/20 everyone.

I bought a bunch of stuff from morningsave on 4/1, before that it was a toothbrush on 1/20, then a knife on 11/17.
I’ve been questioning my 60/yr membership as well, especially since the last coupon I saw (which I would have used) was intentionally not given to VMPs.
@Pantheist What is this coupon we missed???
@Kidsandliz https://meh.com/forum/topics/ninja-bl610-professional-blender-refurbished#58dc192c3850b80bd4bbb612
@Pantheist Suck it up. Not all of us can be non VMP’s.
@Pantheist Thanks. Don’t need a blender so meh… (grin)
I pay the $5 a month for the prestige. Like paying the annual fee on a black card.
/image black card
@medz I hide my VMP.
@medz Don’t people talk bad about you when you play the “Black Card”?
@medz 'not seeing the prestige angle of VMP.
…and I have no idea what “Black Card” is so there’s that. (Note: I’ve chuckled when seeing someone pull out an Amex Platinum/Gold/whatever card.)
@cranky1950 i got it
@Barney 'K, I’m right there with you.
/giphy eye to eye
Last thing I bought was the Motorola buds on February 4th.
I guess I should also consider quitting VMP.
In the last year, it looks like I average 3.5 purchases per month between meh and morningsave.
/giphy Yikes.
So, based on a monthly average of 3.5 purchases, I got 2.5 orders per month with free shipping. That equates to a $150 savings per year on free shipping. After the $60 membership fee, I still come out $90 ahead.
/giphy math thoughts
@medz …so… you need to consider ponying up more dollars (add a second VMP account? Oh wait, can’t do that.) since you’re not actually paying for that VMP prestige - rather it is saving you money.
@medz You subtracted your orders with free purchases and your fee. Really you are $150 ahead. For the year: 42 purchases @ $5 would have been $210, you only paid the $60 VMP.
Myself, I’ve made 19 purchases from Meh and Morningsave combined, so I’m slightly ahead. Unless you consider that I would not have made most of those purchases if shipping weren’t free.

6 purchases in 962 days.
Yeah, thinking about this, it doesn’t really seem worth it. Meh isn’t a charity. Probably cancelling in a week.
But I always hate cancelling things I can’t get back. Or throwing away things/junk that I won’t be able to find again.
@walarney i am a pack rat too
I’ve never made a purchase on Meh proper; I have yet to see anything that I honestly needed. On the other hand, over on MorningSave, in the month of April (which is when I discovered it), I’ve made six purchases, and so far, it’s a mixed bag.
I have a lovely new purse, and three hats that were made for an enormous head (or for someone with big hair, perhaps). I bought them to decorate for Easter, and then realized they’d arrive to late. There’s always next year. There are two more purses on the way, and I expect them to be favorites also.
I also bought something that had been on sale here on Meh. Apparently I was just looking for something to spend money on, and my brain shorted out. Yes, my darlings, I bought a cooking thing that I will never, EVER use.

I took it out of the box, looked at the directions for 30 minutes, and suddenly realized that it would be a perfect gift for someone else and boxed it right up. I’m not sure that MorningSave will keep me interested, though. I don’t need more kitchen stuff, and I don’t need more purses. I have no interest in costume jewelry.
Then again, you never know…
@Shrdlu
Ron Popeil is famous for doing that to people. The whole presentation is so entertaining that people almost want to fall for it, just to reward the ingenious energy.
Including me.
So, no big hair for Easter? Somehow, big hair doesn’t seem quite “you”.
; )
@f00l Big hair has been fashionable, off and on (although I suspect that in certain areas of TX, it’s de rigueur), but the last time I had big hair (even sort of) would have been in the early sixties. That was a long, long time ago.
I don’t actually celebrate Easter, but do find dressing up a hat or two to be entertaining. I have similar hats to the ones I bought from MorningSave, but they’re nicer, and it’d be a shame to do that to them. I’ll just run something or other around the inside band to make them fit, and sit properly. I have a year to do it…
@Shrdlu
Big hair was the thing for all the Moms when I was young, to the time of endless good-humored jokes en familia. I recall watching a kid completely shred a paper bag every which way, then proudly hold up his creation and grin and yell “Hey, Mom, is this what they do to you at the salon?” She laughed.
By the time I cared about anything like that, the fashion was passing toward youth culture. Twiggy and Jean Shrimpson had been huge for years, and even the most dedicated power-hungry socialites had looks flavored with a touch of “flower child”.
But there are big-hair hold-outs, even today, just a few. A tiny minority - but why should they change? They’ve made it work for decades.
The social languages and codes of appearance and presentation are areas of permanent inarticulation for me. Even when I put out serious effort, and try to aim at “appropriate-to-occasion-background-innocuity”, I flunk somehow. I can read this language to a degree, but cannot speak it. My personal failure only: the rest of my family have notable gifts toward apparently effortless low-key socially appropriate elegance.
At much as the thought of “big hair” makes me cringe a bit, I have always liked it when it worked for someone. I love Ann Richards, and I love her hair.
@f00l “Poor George, he can’t help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth.” Yep, I loved her, too. Too bad she was a Texan.

I bought once in January, zero in February, and twice in March.
If April comes up zero, the VMP will likely get cancelled.
Not gonna feel good to effectively pay $10 shipping assuming I find something in May. (Yes, I realize it is, economically, sunk cost… but not psychologically.)
Tiki Torches - not too long ago.
the LED leash the other day, for my buddies’ brother’s dog.
before that some flashlights in the middle of march, headphones in early january, etc.
41 purchases so far, been here (and a VMP) since day zero.
registered with mediocre a year before meh launched( as soon as i heard about it on deals.woot), and participated in the seligman experiment.
so far VMP has cost me $180. well worth it in my opinion.
The VMP is $5???
Kidding
I try to buy something once a month to make it work.
@meh427 ummm, sorry to break it to you, but you might want to consider buying twice a month to make it work
/youtube don’t get lost in the math
@meh427 You drank the koolaid… that is the evil plan - to suck you into buying more.
My last purchase on Meh was the Quirky extension cords last month, and on morningsave was the fuko. My last order was the Saberlight lighters, though.
are you also drinking a 4/20 tonight?
/giphy should i get the 5th or the handle?
I have VMP. I spend $5 a month for free shipping here, and a discount at MorningSave.
And it’s really worth it.
Being VMP makes me feel so much better

EVERY-TIME. IF IT’S NOT MEH IRK WILL UNCLICK IT FOR YOU.
Yoda - don’t feel bad about breaking it to me. I often consider buying twice a month, but A. Don’t drink enough B. Can’t force myself to consider this junk anymore than what I do.
