I really like the smaller Ninja pod style blender better. Mine’s still going strong ~9 years into frequent use. Limeade, margaritas, sauces… Anything I’ve thrown at it, it’s tackled REALLY well.
@yugrudfooz This thing has 3 layers of blades. No more pushing ice down to the bottom blade. This thing has power. No more getting ice stuck on the blade so the blade will not spin. This is bigger than my old blender.
@Jetlag good call, shame on me. i’m a merchandiser here so i may be able to assist some sort of stupid discounts for future deals wondering what price would equal silly stupid savings
@Lincoln 50% off and I would have bought it. 45% and I would have at least thought about it for more than a few seconds. Besides the fact that it’s a refurb that’s basically all moving parts, gota keep in mind that the warranty is significantly shorter.
@elimanningface I took 30 years of lower pay, less benefits, and a restrictive work environment in a government job in exchange for a solid pension program that would allow me to retire at 55. It’s all a trade off. I was offered lucrative jobs in the private sector many times but chose long term financial security over shorter term affluence.
It really is a bad ass blender. But I like to remove the lid while the blender is running & add stuff like protein powder. This keeps it from sticking to the side & causing a much more difficult clean up. Oster for me!
@Joedetroit The lid has a flip top spout so you can add stuff while it’s running (as long as what you want to add isn’t a whole adult hand. You MIGHT be able to squeeze a baby’s hand in there, though, if you really try. There’s nothing quite like fresh baby juice to wake you up in the morning.)
@yogapants This is no Vitamix, but at $50, it meets the needs of most people. However, if you blend daily, the Vitamix is a much better investment as it will easily last 5 years.
We bought our Vitamix in 1992 and we use it regularly. Have only had to replace 1 carafe when the bearing on the blade seized. Motor base is still going strong.
Anyone else think it’s kind of shady having secret coupon codes like slickmix to get $12 off? Guess that’s why there’s not much of a discount off of Amazon’s $65 for the suckers who bought it at $50.
@pyro008 I put this code in and it works. First how did you find it, and second, @woodhouse would you mind explaining this coupon code? Because it definitely seems shady.
@pyro008@sammydog01 We’ve got this coupon code feature and I thought I’d try a limited experiment. Not really something I planned out more than just wanted to see how it worked, but it’s good to hear feedback.
Coupon code still good at almost 10pm central. @Dave, I don’t think it’s shady to try some marketing and see if you can pull some new eyeballs from Slickdeals. It’s not a reward, it’s an acquisition cost (read: bribe to come buy). We VMPs are already here. It is a substantial discount, though, and if I’d bought at $50 i might have some remorse.
I didn’t buy at $38 either, because I already have a very good blender and to buy another would be to invite my betrothed to try to defeat the lid safety mechanism and blend various parts of my anatomy for overflowing the kitchen gadget collection.
@djslack 44 uses, all but 5 of which paid shipping (which was the only way I could set the coupon to this amount). Overall, I think not really worth the trouble, but I like experimenting with this stuff. I’ll have to think through how we could try out some VMP coupons.
@Yoda_Daenerys huh? I think you lost me somewhere in there.
As I seem to follow it, I think you think I’m not a dude? If that’s the concern, I am. I just like to cook and have kitchen gadgets. The parts of my anatomy I think might get blended would be the dangly bits.
My being a dude and cooking is fine, because my lady doesn’t often like to cook so she is more than happy for me to do it. If only I could convince her that mowing the lawn would help us to both do our part to defeat gender normative stereotypes…
Bought one. It arrived this week. Finally opened it today, and it died on the first blend. Started emitting toxic rubber-smelling smoke from the motor after 5 seconds.

But, will it blend?
@Lazarpandar So informative.
@yakkoTDI I came here to make the will it blend comment and I made it.
Meh squared
Will it blend?
Mixed deal for blended families
This will make margaritas.
@cengland0 They won’t make themselves, now will they?
Looking at you, pal. Kinda thirsty over here.
I really like the smaller Ninja pod style blender better. Mine’s still going strong ~9 years into frequent use. Limeade, margaritas, sauces… Anything I’ve thrown at it, it’s tackled REALLY well.
@Jamileigh17 I literally bought a blender seconds ago but your comment soothed my regret as I purchased a smaller one.
Aren’t all blenders the same?
@yugrudfooz NO!
@yugrudfooz This thing has 3 layers of blades. No more pushing ice down to the bottom blade. This thing has power. No more getting ice stuck on the blade so the blade will not spin. This is bigger than my old blender.
I’m impressed with how it can keep fruit and ice perfectly separated, apparently by some sort of invisible membrane.
Mehtastic
@Stallion Blenderrific.
Heh… I just downloaded and installed Blender, like, 20 minutes ago. Coinkydink?
I’ve never meditated. But I spent plenty of 12 hour sessions sitting in a corner after to much LSD.
@skymeat i do the same thing with tequila. i call it marinating.
MARGARITAS THIS WILL MAKE!!!
But my overbuilt (half of a) blender only cost me $6 so far.
Just $22 off and it’s refurbished instead of new? That’s not a very good deal.
@Dizavid I want a new blender, and I was thinking the same thing.
But what if we want hand-flavored smoothies?
Mmmm… That’s good hand!
Perfectly Middle of the Road:
马马虎虎 is meh in Chinese.
Just over 30% off, for a refurb with a 90-day warranty. Mighty Meh.
@jetkins Hi Jet, would love your opinion of proper percentage discount from new-refurb. Inquiring minds wanna know.
@Lincoln This is meh. I want stupid discounts, not proper ones.
@Jetlag good call, shame on me. i’m a merchandiser here so i may be able to assist some sort of stupid discounts for future deals wondering what price would equal silly stupid savings

Jimmy Buffet announces Margaritaville retirement community; Meh announces blender. The universe is telling us something.

Made it to retirement living a blender-free life. Why change now. Sorry, Meh.
@lordbowen congratulations on making it to a place anyone under the age of 40 will likely never reach.
@elimanningface I took 30 years of lower pay, less benefits, and a restrictive work environment in a government job in exchange for a solid pension program that would allow me to retire at 55. @moondrake sweet, that is the norm now so I guess we all have a shot at retirement after all. I overspoke.
@elimanningface
Caution: The blades are sharp.
It really is a bad ass blender. But I like to remove the lid while the blender is running & add stuff like protein powder. This keeps it from sticking to the side & causing a much more difficult clean up. Oster for me!

@steelopus No way! I bought one a couple years ago & the lid locked down before you could start it & there was no flip top spout. New (er?) feature!
I don’t like tids and bits in my margaritas. That’s why I own a Vitamix. Vroom vroom.
This fits the definition of meh to a T. So-so blender with so-so performance, at so-so price…meh…
“the cheapest speaker dock off all time” in the second sentence is really bothering me.
Still using my Vitamix. Donated the Ninja.
Was a good blender but not a great blender.
This is a good blender. This is a good price.
But there’s no way to wash that dumb blade without cutting yourself. Be careful with this thing.
I have this exact item and it is really good. Effing loud, really good.
@mehvermore could you repeat that? I couldn’t hear you over your blender

@pyro008 @sammydog01 I am interested in hearing where the code was as well.
@dave My guess is your feedback will be a bunch of pissed-off purchasers. But I didn’t buy one so whatever.
@ConandLibrarian I checked the twitter feed. No coupon but it did offer to translate the tweet from Danish.
@sammydog01
https://slickdeals.net/f/10000528-ninja-bl610-professional-blender-refurbished-38-5-s-h-for-nonvmp-members
is where I saw it. Guessing it is some kind of deal with Slickdeals, but you’d think that to try out a coupon code they could’ve gone with VMP members or something.
@pyro008 Thanks. You would think that maybe @dave would think of us VMPs. But no. Slickdeals probably gave him a free Fitbit or something.
Coupon code still good at almost 10pm central. @Dave, I don’t think it’s shady to try some marketing and see if you can pull some new eyeballs from Slickdeals. @djslack Suck-up.

@dave I hope the majority of the 39 non-vmps were new signups and they stick around. Thanks for the transparency. Little experiments are fun.
@dave I’ve been paying shipping every month for months without actually getting anything shipped. I’m sure I’m not alone either.
@djslack dang, the second reveal that i thot was a dude, but me thinks u r knot - i also have a treasure trove of Meh. items staking up…
@Yoda_Daenerys huh? I think you lost me somewhere in there.
