I don’t think that I’ll purchase any more.
Even $20 seemed high for me, but I’m keeping the order.
It stinks that the coupons can’t be stacked, which is partially WHY I’m not purchasing more.
If the coupons didn’t expire this year, my limit would be higher. Maybe $40…
I’m out; I tried for the $20 one but not interested in paying more than that.
$20 would be absolute limit even with coupons. Quite a few IRKS have barely been able to justify the $5 in it. So yeah, i’ll be out if they keep inflating.

What’s the over under for CS complaints that there was an overcharge on my purchase?
I am irkless so far. Still thinking on my tipping point.
I haven’t bought any because I know I will be getting one and my “don’t be greedy” moral compass is kicking in even though it’s specifically allowed this time.
However, the number of coupons that would be redeemable by end of year would be a consideration as the price rises. At the point that $coupons - $usable > 2, the “cost” of an IRK has been exceeded. But value may vary, and an IRK bought for $100 could conceivably come out to be a good “deal” even if no coupons were used. Not likely, but definitely possible.
If the prices keep going up, I’m out. But, after demand starts to slow and bots get turned off, if they sneak a normal/low price IRK in there to mix things up, I would grab a $5/10/maybe 15 one. Total limit of $50 though. So I’m still refreshing every half hour in blind hope for now.

I stopped trying after the $20 one, and I don’t regret it.
Even 20 was high for me. Irks are a fun game, but I don’t buy enough at the other shops to justify essentially buying myself gift cards with a 6mo expiration date.
So far we haven’t seen them take more than a minute to sell out. Clearly the number for ~50 buyers is pretty high.
I wonder how many buyers have bought every one?

@studerc I like to think that someone, somewhere has a bot that autobuys IRKs but doesn’t check for a $5 price. I also like to think that person will have a well deserved rude awakening.

Considering I’ve only purchased two non IRK items in the past year, the chances of there being anything good in the IRK is low. Plus the odds of me using multiple coupons by 12/31 is also low

I would likely have gone up to $20 or so, simply on nostalgia.
$5 is my limit. Not sure I’d go for $10 since the value of many of mine has been irk bag and that is it. Occasionally I get lucky but for the most part I have not. Of course we know that going into this and make our choices accordingly. I am not a big gambler and don’t buy lottery tickets either. While they may be thinking of a price increase vs buyers, I hope they remember that part of the value of an irk is non-monetary in the sense of value to the community even if we don’t get one. It is cheap enough we mostly all can afford them (and some won’t be able to as the price goes up) and so it is fun for all, not just for those willing to spend a lot. I hope they don’t forget that as they are thinking about price point with a price increase. I’d rather pay less and not get coupons. They may be thinking about recouping losses as likely irks are a price point loser.

What most don’t know about me is I have a degenerate gambler hidden inside my calm facade.
Won $150 yesterday on a $10 scratch ticket. Thinking today was a mehrathon i decided that would be my purchase purse for today.
$10, $15, $20, $35…currently have $70 left. Which interestingly enough means I can only buy 1 more unless the price trends downward.
The write up says they don’t know who gets what with respect to the price paid for the irks. They’d have to know if they are putting the coupons in the boxes. BUSTED!

That last one took the longest to come to at about 20 seconds of thought, but it’s probably the most likely.
$30 to offset VMP for the rest of the year but would humor buying one at a higher price if a) they were available and b) the contents in the IRK were worth the price tag.
Yeah I set my limit at $35 max- even then it’s $30 over priced — so when I got one finally I was not excited but actually it was an oh darn moment because that was my limit I set that I would spend on Irk so was secretly hoping I wouldn’t get it. Instant regrets already -as I know it’ll be junk
but I said $35 was max so there it is IRK purchase that irks me.
So, is meh experimenting with a sort of “reverse Dutch auction” sales model? Could this be part of the changes snapster was hinting about earlier?
I paid $5, and I was not interested in trying for another at a higher price. Had I missed the 5, I might have gone as high as 15, but that would be with the assumption I would use two of the three coupons and ultimately pay normal price for the IRK.
One question not addressed and not seemed to be noticed by anyone yet:
Will these $5 coupons work instead of or in addition to the usual VMP discount on SideDeal?
If the purchase only accepts one coupon, then a $5 coupon on a $20 item is only worth $3, allowing that the VMP discount would have taken off $2. In that case the $2 part of the $5 was not “free” relative to the IRK price.
Also not addressed:
If the $5 coupon counts toward paying for the item, then you will be paying your state’s sales tax on both the IRK purchase and the SD or Meh.com item and are not getting that “back”. (OTOH, if it reduces the price of the item by $5, then you break even on the sales tax.)
Notice that the sales tax (in my state) would be $5.74 on the current $70 IRK. I don’t necessarily want to pay that twice to the state (once on the IRK and once on any other purchases using the $5 coupons).
Maybe someone like @troy can weigh in on this.

Aw crap. I was scammed.
@medz @phendrick I have skipped using $5 codes before because you can’t enter both. Sometimes buying using the VMP for cheaper and sometimes not buying at all.
@phendrick It’s still the case that only one coupon is allowed at a time, so the $5 coupons will work in place of the VMP code if desired. No double dipping! Sorry
The coupon will reduce the subtotal of the item, and you will only be charged tax on the discounted price.
