@UncleVinny I tend to have that for breakfast (had it today, in fact) usually with fresh ground black pepper, especially if the fruit is fresh strawberries. Tho it’s not really takeout (except in the literal sense of taking it out of the fridge).
I also mix cottage cheese with chopped savory stuff (say garlic and scallions or parsley, chives, etc.) and serve it at room temp or slightly warmed with baked or boiled potatoes, sort of aiming at an Alsatian dish called Bibalakas (this page is in French, but translates easily… unaged or very young muenster cheese is very different from the stuff we call meunster cheese in the USA). But I’d say this constitutes cooking, so not really germaine to this poll’s discussion. So yummy tho!
It’s funny, but just when I was going to tick Chinese I realized that anymore we just walk over to the local pizzeria, which is now less than a block away. Can’t remember the last time we picked up at the China Delight.
Where are the tacos? 8 out of 10 restaurants here are Mexican food, which is about my ratio for takeout, usually Taco Tote (semi local chain) or Taco Cabana.
If I’m too lazy to cook, I’m definitely too lazy to walk around and get takeout. As far as delivery, I think my options are pretty much pizza and sandwiches, but I haven’t done that in years. Generally I just go to sleep if I don’t want to cook.
@mike808 $21 for two burgers and fries? And I thought I paid too much at $10 for a bacon burger, onion rings and a milk shake yesterday. I got Johnny Rockets for the first time and was really disappointed. Food looked good but was essentially tasteless. But when I was throwing out the bag I found a coupon in it for a free margherita pizza at a place I like, so it’s sort of break even.
@moondrake You missed the part about getting $18 off. I only went because I paid $4, not $21.
They were 1/2 or 2/3 lb burgers (w/ 2 patties). Were they worth $2-3 more than the equivalent bacon double from BK/McD/JITB/Culvers/etc. ? Maybe. Mine were pretty juicy/greasy, and not really my style. Like all made-to-order burger joints, YMMV.
I’ve found the $3 bacon cheeseburger at Sam’s to be pretty decent value for the price, and had a meatier taste than the usual fast food joints. They also don’t offer veggies on them, just condiments.
@mike808 I didn’t miss it, I assumed that that’s why you spent that much, to get the full value of your coupons. I was just shocked at that price, which we must presume that most people pay as they don’t have coupons like you had. I’ve been to Five Guys a few times, but I don’t normally eat ground beef, so I usually just get fries and a soda. I didn’t realize they were so expensive.
@moondrake This was my second time to eat at 5GB. For 2 double cheesburgers and a half loaf of fries (they call it “small”) for $4, it was too good a deal to pass up.
If you have a Chase card (e.g. Freedom) and load up ChasePay, its currently a bonus 5% off this quarter. Saved me another 20 cents!
The $8 off is 5GB specific, the $10 off is first order from any merchant on ChasePay.
Usually a chix Ceasar wrap from the grocery store deli.
Italian usually Olive Garden since they are close.
@carwinew But… you said Italian?
@carwinew @cinoclav :snicker:
Cottage cheese & canned fruit.
@UncleVinny I love that too! Have you ever used tomatoes or olives? yum!
@UncleVinny

@baqui63 very cool! Savory+cottage cheese is new to me, but that site is interesting…I didn’t know there was a Munster in France.
or or in . hold the always. are always good too.
@elimanningface hold the dress?
@elimanningface @moonhat
+(-R)
maybe?
Gambinos pizza!! 67042 area, it’s the best
I went with pizza because it specified takeout.
Had it said eating out or takeout (or not specified), I’d have gone with greek, which we usually eat there.
@baqui63 Favorite Greek restaurant?
@baqui63 I know there’s an incredibly dirty joke in here somewhere.
@baqui63 @cinoclav You may be overselling it. At most it’s probably a risque jest.
@compunaut Gryo World, on the corner of Northern Blvd and 195th Street in Flushing (tho some people call it Auburndale or even Bayside).
@cinoclav, @macromeh There is almost always a joke, tho in this case none was intended, risque, dirty or otherwise.
Pizza provides all the major food groups; bread, meat, cheese, and tomato sauce. Jalepenos are optional.
@hchavers
and its great cold for breakfast the next day
@amehzinggrace @hchavers washed down with beer works for breakfast too.
uhhhh…I usually take-out some ramen from the pantry, put it in a bowl and microwave it. Or take-out something from the freezer and microwave that.
@Dweezle So, thawed ice cubes?
Around these parts, the pizza’s delivered, so I ticked Chinese. I prefer pizza, though.
It’s funny, but just when I was going to tick Chinese I realized that anymore we just walk over to the local pizzeria, which is now less than a block away. Can’t remember the last time we picked up at the China Delight.
Cook anyway.
I said sushi, because that’s the “takeout” we get most often (as opposed to delivery). Ordering in, it would probably be shawarma or poutine.
Cheesesteak or stromboli.
The framing of this question makes me think that you all must have access to domestic competence powers of which I cannot conceive.
I eat drive through most often either to get out of the office, or because I have nothing for lunch and judge that I need more calories to function.
I buy pizza most often because I haven’t purchased groceries in… say three weeks.
Fried Chicken? Why not fried chicken?
Where are the tacos? 8 out of 10 restaurants here are Mexican food, which is about my ratio for takeout, usually Taco Tote (semi local chain) or Taco Cabana.
@moondrake Taco Town!
It’s still “take” something “out” of the fridge because I live in the boonies and there is no takeout anywhere around.

I love the feeling of healthy when I eat Thai food. Its good comfort food.
You left out Hibachi which is what I usually takeout.
@cranky1950 - Isn’t Hibachi toss-out?
McDonald’s to go.
@JoetatoChip When I’m in the drive through, I’ll say “to go”
@JoetatoChip @therealjrn And I tell them I want a diet water.
DonTortaco / Robertos… Las Vegas local Mexican.
Chase Pay has a promo with Five Guys Burgers. $8 off and a $10 first time order discount.
Just got 2 bacon burgers loaded and small cajun fries for $3.83 ($18 off).
Hang on. I heard something. Never mind. Just some arteries snapping.

Gotta make up for my VMP fees somehow, amirite?
@mike808 @moondrake “You’ve got to spend money to make money.”
