I bought one of these last year (sold the mopping attachment online, only use the vacuum part).
It works relatively well (if you don’t leave stuff laying on the floor to get tangled in the brush).
The Shark Clean software app (Android) for dividing your house into (square only) “rooms” mostly allows you to set up “zones” if you want to do certain rooms without hitting others. [But I’ve occasionally yelled at the app because it wouldn’t connect to the robot, had server issues, etc… so if you can just hit the “clean” button and be OK with it doing the entire house, you could ignore the app and be fine unless you need to set up exclusion zones.]
How good these at cleaning an area that has chairs in it?
For instance…my kitchen and dining room area are a step higher than the rest of the living spaces in my house. Will having the chairs be in slightly different positions, or the bar stools being moved around cause it to be confused? Also there’s a small entry rug in front of a door to our deck. Would it try to mop this as well or should I throw it (the rug … not the vac…) out the door each time I run the vac to mop?
If I put it down a step to do the living room, bathroom, office, guest bedroom, etc, areas will it map and then remember that space from previous runs?
Likewise, if I put it in our master bedroom/bath area will it remember that set up too? (We generally keep that door closed so the cats can’t get in there).
I recently replaced the bot I bought from this site. It had finally gotten so old the app was no longer sanctioned and I couldn’t get to actually utilize the mop part. Still vacuums fine, but I replaced it with a nice Roborock Qrevo Curv. The jump in tech/features was astounding.
That said, I’m lazy and this would be great to maintain my basement. A bit annoying to have to clean the bin/pad every time you use it, but still a great convenience for maintaining a home. Especially my home with 3 animals. If anyone is wondering about whether robot vacs are worthwhile, this is a great deal to see if it works for your lifestyle.
I really want to take a chance on this, but I’ve read about mapping issues. I have 2 cats and long hair. I already have a Dyson vacuum, this would be great for our hardwood floors and kitchen to mop. Also, does it indicate what type of cleaner to use for the mopping?

@tyler524 I’m not sure because this version has had a lot of model numbers, but I believe this was sold as manual empty, and the deluxe dock was an add-on. That’s what I saw when looking at the base model number
@Pufferfishy I had the same observations when I was looking into it. I see both of them, and the closest manual that I can find to this part number shows an emptying base. I can also see it not being included for the price. If it is, it is a definite purchase for me. If not, it’s a maybe.
@werehatrack This model lacks a camera; it just navigates by very low sample rate LIDAR in a flat plane a few inches off the floor, keeping track of how much it’s turned its wheels, and by bumping into things if it runs into something unexpected and temporarily mapping around it.
@seeden Reviews I found for similar models say it’s not a good fit. Shark does not explicitly mention shag rug compatibility in their specs, just regular carpet and hard floors.

I am still using my Meh Roomba from 2018 so decided this was worth a shot. The old roomba is just a bump and turn thing, so the cleaning is pretty random but works well enough.
The MechaShark did not arrive with the brush thing though. So that is a bummer.
My kid got the app and is now in control of the thing, she named it Destroyer of Worlds or something, and ran the mapping pass a couple of days ago. She ran it last night and I have to say I am impressed at what a nice and complete job it did covering the two carpeted rooms it ran in. Even without the corner brush, it filled the dust bin with cat fur.
Now I need to figure out how to get water into the reservoir and try that mop function on the hardwood.
If Meh wants to send me the brush attachment, that would be cool.
Bought one of these here about a yr ago. It seems to be pretty much the same unit best I can tell.
Had it set up next door at Mom’s house strictly as a vacuum while the house sat empty pending estate and sale processes. Did a good job keeping dead ladybugs and so forth policed up. Covered the entire house without any problem (hardwood mostly with carpet in the 3 bedrooms).
After we sold the house I brought it here and now have it set up in our tiled kitchen/dining room area which are a 3-inch step higher than the living room area. Covers the area in about 35 minutes, and does a pretty good job of vacuuming up cat hair, crumbs etc. There are six chairs and three bar stools plus a plant stand in the area and a small rug in front of a set of French doors that lead to the deck. It is much happier if I move those strategically to make it easier for it to pass between the feet of the chairs. Typically if I run the mop function I will either stack the chairs on the table or put them out on the deck or into another room so that the surface is more easily mopped. I also take up the rug. Since the run time is only about 40 minutes for a cycle I will often run it (in mop configuration) back to back finishing with a clear water rinse. That seems to do a good job of keeping the floor from being ever-so-slightly sticky after the soap solution mopping, though that is possibly also a humidity function as well. The dock and “landing pad” on this are pretty big. I have it tucked underneath a chair (with arms) for the dining room which is currently stored up against the wall next to a side table. Though that doesn’t follow their requirements for clearance, it has always found its way back to the dock without issue.

Somehow I ended up buying three of these. Not sure how that happened. However, I’ve now unboxed two of them since the first one was broken out of the box (only one drive wheel works). The other one is working, but had one strange issue, when it transitioned over a slight height difference between two rooms it dumped some of its cargo at the lip. But the first pass dry and wet completed, it picked up more than I expected it to. I’ll have to unbox the third now and see if it’s in the working or non-working camp.
so I have like three robot vacs and they’re really old and one of them has lost suction so I went ahead and bit the bullet based on reviews from fellow mehtizens that already bought these. Out the box, the battery was blinking would never fully charge. The Wi-Fi wouldn’t stay connected in spite of it having a dedicated 2.4 GHz connection wanted a replacement but meh gave no option except for a refund and then only gave me seven days to return it in spite of it having a 90 day warranty so that was interesting. I feel like this company has really changed especially with the new ownership. I’ve been contemplating leaving for a while. VMP isn’t what it used to be and the IRKs have went soooo downhill. At least you could get something great every once in a blue moon not anymore. It’s all crap almost consistently. Then they were like we’ll have our return specialist inspect it and then give you a refund…that gave me the feeling like they don’t believe me it was faulty. It’s not like I return a ton of things to meh and I’m really kind of disappointed with the tone with which I was treated…normally they are really cool about things that I have a problem with cause it’s not that often but I’m voicing this here because it just really rubbed me the wrong way. At least they paid for the return shipping.
One more thing I completely forgot to mention: when I set the vacuum up, it still had the previous owner’s map saved on it, including a room literally labeled “Cat Room.”
That honestly grossed me out a little, but more importantly, it made me question how thoroughly this unit was actually refurbished if it wasn’t even properly reset before being resold. Between that, the battery issue right out of the box, and the Wi-Fi repeatedly disconnecting, I think I had pretty legitimate reasons to believe something wasn’t right with this particular unit.

That’s really weird about you having rooms already set up when you registered the device. I would have thought that those were kept in the cloud on a per account basis.

One of my cats loses control of his bowels sometimes, leaving a log on the floor. How big a problem can this thing handle?
