If Paloma had been on the list, it would have had my vote. I use unsweetened ruby red juice and agave syrup to lightly sweeten it. Ugh, I'm gurgling like Homer Simpson just thinking about it...
@borisparsley and speaking of fizzy less sweet and grapefruit-y refreshment you can't beat my greyhound made with charge water and only a splash from the Simply Grapefruit juice bottle – then have these fine zero-calorie bad boys carry the rest of the citrus load.
We make the tincture in spring and early summer for those perfect gin and tonic evenings. We leave it unsweetened and add agave or simple syrup to the drink as desired. It's pretty special.
There are a lot of good summer drinks. G&T, Negroni, Dark & Stormy, Mint Julep, Dark & Stormy with whiskey instead of rum, Singapore Sling, Mai Tai, Bourbon Renewal, Fog Cutter, etc. My new discovery came from an article a friend referred me to where the author made up cocktails in a vague Harry Potter theme. Four of them were rejected out of hand because they had ingredients I don't use (e.g. Vodka, Coca-Cola, champagne, Red Bull, anything with high fructose corn syrup). One was called the Phoenix Feather and is going into heavy rotation this summer:
2 oz Lillet Blanc
1.5 oz Campari
1 oz fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice
2-3 oz seltzer or club soda
Shake the first three ingredients over ice then strain into a large highball glass. Add ice and soda. Super refreshing.
Take the juice from one bottle of Ol' Janx Spirit.
Pour into it one measure of water from the seas of Santraginus V — Oh, that Santraginean seawater! Oh, those Santraginean fish!
Allow three cubes of Arcturan Mega-gin to melt into the mixture (it must be properly iced or the benzene is lost).
Allow four litres of Fallian marsh gas to bubble through it, in memory of all those happy hikers who have died of pleasure in the Marshes of Fallia.
Over the back of a silver spoon float a measure of Qualactin Hypermint extract, redolent of all the heady odours of the dark Qualactin Zones, subtle, sweet and mystic.
Drop in the tooth of an Algolian Suntiger. Watch it dissolve, spreading the fires of the Algolian Suns deep into the heart of the drink.
Man I'll always vote margarita but major honorable mention goes to its fizzy and less sweet grapefruit-y cousin, the Paloma.

Bourbon slush
Slurpee and vodka
Hard lemonade or shandy.
@OldCatLady this middle aged cat lady agrees.
Either a Tequila Sunrise or a Chi Chi.
@Zelucifer what's a Chi Chi
@borisparsley It's a Pina Colada with vodka instead of rum.
@Zelucifer gimme

@borisparsley I wonder if those give me hives the way real grapefruit do. Hmmm.....
@MsELizardBeth I would guess probably
@borisparsley I buy the True Lemon all the time. I have some of their lime as well, but I didn't know they also made grapefruit. Gotta get me some!
What? Gin & Tonic not listed?
@RedOak Thank You! Was about to say the same thing!
@RedOak with a lemon twist even.
@RedOak
I don't want to say that you have to do this, but you totally have to do this!

@RedOak absolutely .. it isn't summer without a G&T. Plus it helps stave off that pesky malaria thing. At least that's what I tell my wife.
@thismyusername No, a lime wedge. If you ever get a chance, squeeze some lime in a gin and tonic then look at it with a black light. Very interesting.
@RedOak Amen.
@RedOak seriously! it's the classic summer drink.
@RedOak Vodka & Tonic for me.
@RedOak G&T was my first thought, too!
@Teripie sounds like a good excuse to try it this weekend :D
Tequila Sunrise does it for me with Jose cuervo gold
ooh hell yeah
@jasonsaint Cuervo gold isn't tequila. Try something like Hornitos reposado.
Pimms cup
Pina Colada just screams summer.
Gin and Tonic.
Green Goliath
Harvey Wallbanger
Water
@WilhelmScreamer Melted Ice in a cocktail you say?
Vodka tonic
The list is long, but Moscow Mule's have made it to the top now that I have 2 cups to keep full.

Sprinkle Zamphuor.
Add an olive.
Drink... but... very carefully...
