@DrWorm I used to ride the DC Metro to work, and my route was both underground (closer to the city) and above ground (out where I lived). I knew it was spring the first day the sun was still shining when the train came up out of the tunnel on my way home, and I knew it was winter the first day it wasn’t.
@shahnm I wasn’t aware anyone else liked humidity! It’s what keeps nights warm and my skin happy. On the rare occasIon i leave humidity, my skin cracks.
Fun fact: When the temperature drops, relative humidity goes up automagically. This means your batteries enjoy even more humidity than you do.
@shahnm@Weboh Then you are both invited to stand in for me on the Texas beach, anywhere from South Padre to Bolivar. I dislike outdoor humidity in general and even more so when weather is warm/hot.
Fun fact: I preferred the “snopocalypse” of February last year, which turned my college town into an unheated and unlit “ghost town” (which in itself wasn’t such a bad thing for me, since I wasn’t a merchant) with temperatures continuously in the teens for days.
Spring! 65 degrees feels such nicer in spring time than it does in the fall. People are only picking fall right now cause it’s hot outside and they’re over it.
I can’t believe so few people picked summer. I feel like you’re lying to yourselves.
Which season has all the plants in full bloom and foilage and at their best? Which season has the most flowers? Which season has the most fresh fruit? Which season has the most enjoyable beach days? In which season can you go outside without having to spend 5 minutes putting on more layers?
Summer!
(And I say this as a Floridian that gets summer 6+ months a year. I thought people that got it 3- months a year would appreciate it all the more)
@Weboh I’m in SE Texas. Mid or South Florida “winter” is our Spring, as far as temps go. Our Summer is nasty-hot, best spent indoors, and Texas beaches are mostly best avoided. Fall is when things liven up, with the majority of outdoor festival-type events happening then. Our wildflower blooms mostly happen in March and April; by June, the dominant color is shifting to brown. By July, what’s not on fire is largely dead. September and early October can be anywhere from nice to nasty to OFuckHurricane. What we get of fall color happens in November and early December, but at least we actually get some. Growing up in Miami, I used to wonder what the hell people were talking about when they mentioned it. Fall in Miami? Well, a coconut or a palm frond can fall on you (3d6 damage, no saving throw) any time of the year. Down there, the two seasons were “not horrible” and “StayTheFuckInside”. I escaped when I got the chance; there’s no way would I move back.
Fall, specifically in the Northeast (Massachusetts baby!). It’s not too cold and it’s not too hot. You can work outside and barely break a sweat, warm up by a firepit, and the air is so much dryer. My wife loves the summer, so I guess I have to like that too.
I will say Fall strictly for fashion opportunities. Sweaters and slacks(or cords) and I get to break out the Gucci shoes and fashion hoodies and can wear almost all if my giant sneaker collection then as well.
@sicc574 Oops, SO sorry! I should know better than to make assumptions, especially THESE DAYS, and ESPECIALLY when it comes to gender!
Of course guys can be fashionistas, nothing better than a well dressed man!
Fall is the best time to plant a spring garden in the South… plant now and harvest till mid-dec, in spring broccoli gets just about right to harvest then turns into blooms… lettuce bolts etc. etc.
Summer, fewer clothes to put on.
@pooflady Unfortunately you can only take so many off until it’s call public indecency and the police haul you off.
@pooflady Got pix to share?
(I’ve got Safe Search turned off.)
@phendrick @pooflady
If she doesn’t here’s one of the beauties from WM demonstrating that fact
@chienfou
@pooflady is probably not that cheeky.
This “beauty” seems to have left all of her bottom ware in the changing room.
Spring, because it means winter is over. Fall is nice, because it isn’t summer, but it just means winter is coming.
Winter is … not my favorite.
@kostia Amen!
@kostia Yup. When the first day of spring of spring rolls around, I am mostly excited its the first of ~272 days of “not winter”.
In a vacuum, a typical autumn day might be nicer, but in spring, my mood is better knowing winter is far away.

I knew it was spring the first day the sun was still shining when the train came up out of the tunnel on my way home, and I knew it was winter the first day it wasn’t.
It doesn’t matter to me what season it is as long as it’s warm/hot and reasonably humid.

Pepper.
@phendrick
Not Road Construction. People who live in Illinois will know exactly what I mean.
This just appeared on my Facebook page. Perfect timing.
Fall…cooler temps, crispy air, and colorful foliage.
@lordbowen The foliage is the BEST! Until it falls to the ground & mocks us by blowing into the exact area that was JUST raked.
I live in the northwest. We have only 2 seasons: rain and less rain.
@tweezak aint that the truth. I’m In oregon.
@tweezak I’m in northeast Oregon and we get all four seasons here
@sicc574 Near Baker?
@tweezak Pendleton
Fall… it isn’t 104 in the shade!!
Fall in northeast ohio. It’s nice when I don’t have to change my shirt at work 3 times a day.
Spring! 65 degrees feels such nicer in spring time than it does in the fall. People are only picking fall right now cause it’s hot outside and they’re over it.
Soup!
@Salanth So, year-round?
@Salanth Next time I make soup you should stop by.
Fall- My wife and I love the color of the leaves changing.
@paulskrtic But summer drought can do that too.
Winter is when I don’t have to run the air conditioner.
Fall. I don’t mind winter, but I loathe summer, so spring always has a sense of foreboding for me. Fall is just perfection.
Fall, stand up, Repeat
@somf69
one tequila,
two tequila,
three tequila,
floor.
Summer. I love the water, lake, and hot temps.

@Weboh That used to be true here, but lately summer is SO dry and hot and we live in fear of wildfires.

Winter. You can always get warmer, put on a sweater or start a fire. Spring or Fall are too fickle. Summer you can’t get cooler easily.
Fall, specifically in the Northeast (Massachusetts baby!). It’s not too cold and it’s not too hot. You can work outside and barely break a sweat, warm up by a firepit, and the air is so much dryer. My wife loves the summer, so I guess I have to like that too.

@sicc574 Oops, SO sorry! I should know better than to make assumptions, especially THESE DAYS, and ESPECIALLY when it comes to gender!

Thanks for looking out!
Umami. It’s the best.
The in-between one where you don’t have to turn on the heat or the A/C, and you can leave the windows open. Like today in Michigan.
