@Cerridwyn I’m sure that knives have the fanboy analogs of audiophiles, albeit probably without the looney woo-woo pseudospecs. Possibly worse than the gamers you must never ask about their most recent campaign…
@simeon527 …yeah, almost entirely. I also cut some tin foil backed paper which is occasionally reinforced with fiberglass (man, I hate when they do that) but otherwise it’s just box tape. Since converting to the flip out utility knife, I’ve experienced fewer problems and had sharper blades on average - and I don’t have to worry or care about damaging a knife because the blades come in 20-packs for a few bucks.
But at least the boxes are boxes of fireworks! So that’s something.
For plastic packaging, I’m going to recommend scissors. Can you use a single blade? Yes, sure. Will a good pair of scissors be much easier and safer? Also yes. If you get a pair of titanium scissors (or something similar) you can also use them for fireworks because they won’t spark. Steel ones are not safe around fuses.
@jsfs@simeon527 Concur on utility scissors for most edge-sealed clamshells, though I’ve had some with multiple edge-angles plus the added central dot-welds that wanted to resist everything short of chucking the whole thing in the bandsaw and cutting close around the product. And even when scissors have worked, the trimmed edges coming back along the scissor blades have sliced my fingers more than once. I want revenge now, at least as much as I want to get the *&^%$#@ package open.
I’d neuter the bros in that dumb ad to make sure they couldn’t procreate. Or, to be fair, they’re just actors, so i guess i should target the marketing geniuses who came up with the concept.
That’s me at :50 (I’ll just use my hatchet so i don’t have to buy their overpriced knife. Hey, I’m “frugal”… some would say cheap. After all, i shop at Meh!)
I have a ceramic blade box cutter for opening Amazon boxes and product packaging. Less likely I’ll hurt myself. I only need to cut a couple millimeters, not three inches into the belly of an opponent.
@OnionSoup When I worked in an auto parts store, the radio display would get shifted to loud-ass obnoxious crap about every ten minutes. I brought in a timer switch that power-cycled the whole thing every fifteen minutes, causing all of the radios to default to “off”. Nowadays, those radio displays are a thing of the past. Too many cars have wildly nonstandard dash setups that completely disallow the use of an aftermarket sound systems. (FTS.)
If a similar size knife with a pushbutton lock comes up, I’m in. I greatly favor one-handed lock releases that do not put any part of a finger in the path of the closing blade, and lock-backs are often too stiff to do that. Liner locks are the worst.
I’d use it on whoever didn’t send me the email yesterday so that I can keep my streak alive! Come On! My life is too busy to think for myself, I need reminders.
OPENING AN IRK!! (If I could actually afford one and was also dumb enough to hit the “Buy” button!!)
It’s sharp, it’s a blade, it cuts things, what more do you need to know
@Cerridwyn What you plan to cut? Hmm maybe we’d better cut out asking questions like this in case we don’t want to know the answer,
@Cerridwyn I’m sure that knives have the fanboy analogs of audiophiles, albeit probably without the looney woo-woo pseudospecs. Possibly worse than the gamers you must never ask about their most recent campaign…
Box tape.
Really that’s it.
My flip out utility knife does the job fine though.

A gift for someone, maybe me.
@hchavers A really good gift, for the right person.
Are we having a speaker dock tomorrow? Is the old Meh back?
The flesh of my enemies… metaphorically of course…
@sicc574 …in Minecraft, of course.

@sjk3 Some of the packaging is aggressive enough that I would like to stick a knife three inches into its belly. And twist.
I’d clip it to my MOLLE bag and never use it. Just like the knife I already have on there.
Taylor Swift
@OnionSoup Are you wanting to remove her from the music scene, or are you wanting to threaten her into coming back to your place?
@OnionSoup @xobzoo Or perhaps to get the *&^%$#@ shrink-wrap off of the CD case?
@xobzoo I wouldn’t want her at my place, so let’s go with to remove her from the music scene.
@xobzoo could you just not listen to her music?
@kittykat9180 @xobzoo I wish that were an option. Some places that one goes in public decide for us what to listen to.

@OnionSoup Are you the one who put out this jar?
@OnionSoup What’s a “Taylor Swift” and why would I care? (I don’t do pop music, and nobody here listens to it.)
@OnionSoup @werehatrack I have serious doubts about this claim.
Any package except Amazon (I don’t shop there).
If it’s anything like the last knife I bought from Meh, I’ll mostly use it for the satisfying feeling of flicking it open and clicking it shut.
Hey kids, don’t do what I do! Knives aren’t toys!

is there no longer a meh button ?
@visioneer_one Even though this item is still for sale, it’s not today’s item. Only today’s item has a meh button.
