@badolbunny They’re surprise offerings during a “Mehrathon”, when instead of selling one item all day, they run short sales on a bunch of items for the day. Usually it’s the short lots left over or in some cases, when they’ve git shitloads left and can’t get rid of it fast enough.
Sprinkled in will be a 5-minute sale of an unknown number of "IRK"s, or Instant Regret Kits, that will sell out in seconds, if that.
There are occasionally hidden IRKs in Meh’s step-sister sites.
@badolbunny Although there are a couple of somewhat-maybe-predictable days when the midnight rollover will begin a 'Thon, mostly it’s just a surprise. Historically, they happened multiple times per year on an irrgular basis; last year, we were seeing them about once a month, but the first one this year was on April 1st. They seldom start one on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night, but there are no guarantees that they won’t. (April 1st was a Friday.) A Mehrathon often starts with a batch of IRKs, but not always - and when it doesn’t start with one, there’s typically one in the first hour. After that, good luck guessing, you just have to be ready as the current item ends, and pounce at blinding speed to have any chance if one crops up as the next item. I’ve scored either four or five, I think. None of mine have been extra-fabulous. A couple have been above-adequate. At least one has been decidedly meh. Is it worth the effort? Honestly, they aren’t inherently designed to be that amazing, but some of them are, and you never have the slightest clue what’s coming until the box arrives. At least half the thrill (if there is any) is in the chase.
@badolbunny@Kyeh@werehatrack I’ve never gotten one and I’m a woot vet and been on here since near the start. I’ve never gotten one despite staring at the screen and doing the refresh and getting past the captcha and then… Nope.
It’s not worth the effort with the current audience. And the people who get one “every time” to me. It might well be my shitty DSL though. But regardless we’d love to see your pets
It’s woot.com, but the way it was back when I was in high school
@Seeds
old.woot.com
@narfcake I wasn’t there just because there was a single product page, or I would have left here too
Or I guess maybe it’s MISO CHICKEN. Hard to say.
It’s openly blatant commercialism, minus about 97% of the hypocrisy of all of the other sites that try to sell you stuff.
Stay in school
You aren’t a buddy of @legendornothing by any chance?
You were in middle school in 2020? Are you even old enough to say Fuck in public?

@badolbunny It’s a mystery. They just happen from time to time.

@badolbunny @werehatrack Hey, let the noobie learn it by hanging out here the way the rest of us did – sheesh! We don’t need more competition!
