Might not be malicious spam but, c’mon, that’s definitely spam.

Person joins forum, goes out of their way to make ‘new friends’, 2 days later invites all new friends to leave their forum of choice to join ‘way better experience’.

Unsolicited attempt to populate random chat room = spam.

I don’t really care if it’s allowed per site policy or not, just calling a duck a duck.

Personally I welcome some new people to cheer things up and would rather that everyone not shit on them the first day.

@sammydog01 I do agree that we ought to welcome new people but I disagree that ‘we’ weren’t very welcoming. (‘We’ in quotes because I didn’t really participate aside from opining on the spamminess of this thread. It wasn’t my intention to engage in ‘gate-keeping’ - it shouldn’t have come across that way.)

When I skimmed over her introductory thread, it seemed plenty welcoming.
There was some half-joking skepticism about spam, which I think is justified and wasn’t done in a way that would scare anyone (even an actual spammer) away.

And you have to admit, to follow up “welcome to the site, hope you’re not a spammer” with, “no, I’m not a spammer, thanks for the welcome, now click this link and follow me to this better site” is pretty suspicious behavior, regardless of whether or not the suspicion ends up being justified.

Personally, I was not trying to judge the person - which is why I’ve intentionally not @-ed her - was just adding my 2 cents on the spam/not spam debate on this specific thread which I think, again regardless of true intent, was warranted.

So - “new” thread, very welcoming. This thread, nothing that wasn’t warranted or even particularly harsh, IMO.

Sorry, I try to avoid starting or engaging in any drama here, but sometimes I have a particularly empty, boring day and while trying to occupy myself, despite my better judgement I end up stepping in it anyway.
(Yes, this has been a particularly empty, boring week for me. I mean, does this read like it was written by someone with anything better to do? )

Yey i has a new friend. The chat actually can be paid to make it better but I was bored so I made a unofficial chat fer meh just cause i can. I wasnt planning on actually keeping it. Im actually in the process of deleting the chat now.
