I think most of these smart items already exist, I would love to see what the “meh-ngineers” could cook up for smart sea glass though. Also, can I come aboard as a meh-ngineer by any chance? Sounds like the very mediocre version of a Disney Imagineer and that describes me quite well.
@SparkyPDX I was gonna say, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen several of these sold here, at least for various values of “smart.” (My definition is generally a thing that requires connection to WiFi or Bluetooth; if it’s just running it’s own AI and not clogging up my IoT VLAN phoning home, it might even be doing something useful or helpful for me.) There are definitely chairs, pianos, and roofs (mostly solar) with connectivity. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a mug with an app or something like that. I dunno about sea glass… that’d be an interesting one to see.
@macromeh Same here, really. We’re not sure how old our roof is, but it’s still got at least a few years in it. With any luck, the price will have a chance to come down a bit before we need to think about paying for it.
Smart grass. It recognizes weeds and kills them, along with any bad bugs. It signals when it needs water or fertilizer by sending up a colored flag/blade of grass. It’s also smart enough to stay short so it doesn’t need mowing. Smart Grass 2/GuardDog can also be set to ensnare intruders on command.
We had to get our biometrics done for the health insurance at work. But they very nicely gave us a goodie bag of healthy snacks and things to stay healthy. It included a Bluetooth enabled water bottle. You charge the base and now I can check an app on my phone to see how much I drank out of the water bottle. Also I could just pick it up and see how heavy it is like I do with every other bottle in the world but whatever
