What MEH item do you use the most?
8I posed the question to my wife. I was thinking the Hamilton Beach coffee maker. We use it most days. She proved me wrong with... JBL speaker doc. I was like NOOOO but she's right. It seems to always be occupied by one of our phones or her iPad. So makes me wonder what MEH item do you use the most not necessarily love the most.

The comforters. They are pretty much occupied by at least one person and/or dog 24/7.
Then I'd say the Stanly mugs, then the soap dispensers, followed by the shirts. Of course, the cameras are always on, so maybe they're what are used the most. The remote outlet is used daily for the lamp at the bottom of the stairs, too. Hmmm, I've bought a lot of useful things here.
10' usb cables, black on black meh shirt, dji phantom, $25 toy quadcopter.
Probably one of these...
-ip camera (always on, recording motion)
-LED bulbs (in ceiling fan)
-smart watch (worn on work days)
-power bank (wife and I use to charge phones and kid's tablet)
@medz Now that you mention it I use my metawatch everday except sleeping and showering. May be pretty close to speakerdoc use.
@StrangerDanger
Mehtawatch?
@anonasd Yup - Metawatch here too! :)
I had to look back at my orders to figure this out. Definitely the shirts -- I have the subtle meh. and the big 'm' varieties. After that, I hope it's these headphones, but I have not gotten them yet.
@ACraigL I agree. I wear my meh shirts all the time. I want more!
Definitely my Stanley mugs. I'm pretty much eschewing all my other travel mugs in exclusive favour of these lately. Drinking my leftover morning coffee from one right now, even.
HOLMES AIR PURIFIER. On almost always.
The TV from my Kickstarter Fuku.
@Bingo shut up.
@marklog
@marklog
@Bingo why is John Popper singing a duet with Irk? Where is the bandolier of harmonicas?
@marklog I've thought about getting one since I actually really do play harmonica too. Then I thought it might be too much
The shirts.
I use absolutely nothing.
I would probably use some of the knives, but as they were bought online I worry that they might be traced back to me.
;)
One or more of the Cree light bulbs come on every day. Any time I drive and listen to .mp3 music, the 128GB memory stick is used. I'm pretty sure my niece still carries her chromebook in that BuiltNY sleeve I gave her. I use the TV remote with some of the AA batteries every day. The purple power banks get some use. I usually carry the Kershaw Funxion knife on my person, but left it wherever it is I was using it last. The wired 808 headphones get used frequently. Hey, a lot of meh stuff gets used!
I love purple.
@PocketBrain Oh, and I found and pocketed the Funxion knife. Got it on me.
Speaker dock!
I haven't purchased anything yet (Hey!, stop throwing stones at me). I will, but I want a drone!
@mfladd Woot's got one today. http://electronics.woot.com/offers/parrot-ar-drone-2-0-power-edition
@ACraigL tempting, but I want a phantom. but thanks for telling me. Woot had a new phantom not long ago, but 600+ was over my needless toy budget.
@mfladd Oh! Does this work? I don't know much about drones. http://www.woot.com/plus/celine-phantom-bags
@ACraigL Ha! Pass.
@mfladd And now they have a phantom (for realsies): http://www.woot.com/offers/dji-phantom-2-quadcopter-w-zenmuse-for-gopro-1 I don't know anything about drones but this is a bundle that comes with a DJI P2-H3-3D V2.0 Phantom 2 Quadcopter and 3-Axis Zenmuse H3-3D Gimbal for GoPro.
@ACraigL Thanks for thinking of me. That looks awesome. But again, $600+ ouch. I will have to contemplate this one.
@ACraigL Meh. It is $15 less with shipping than what amazon for. How does wOOt even call itself a deal site anymore? And still I wait.
@mfladd I think that bundle is actually $699 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/DJI-Phantom-Quadcopter-V2-0-Zenmuse/dp/B00P30JB1Q/ With shipping, it's only $15 less on Woot, so to your point, not such a great deal.
@ACraigL Thats what I said. I just forgot the words 'amazon "offers it" for'. This is why free flow thought typing gets me in trouble. That, and I suck at typing. But if you ever see a phantom 2 here and I am sleeping it is your responsibility to let me know or buy it
The Sony Speaker Dock/Alarm Clock from a Fuku. I use it every day. The speakers are amazing and it is a great charger.
@conandlibrarian agreed - excellent sound. Although we didn't get it here.
@conandlibrarian I really liked the Sony Speaker Dock. I also like the Turtle Beach headphones I got in another Fuku. I use them to watch TV.
I use the shitty tools all the time, because they're sitting in a bin next to my desk instead of being worthy of being in my toolbox. Most commonly, I use the flat bladed bit and mini screwdriver to pry things open and the back of the regular sized screwdriver handle to bash things closed.
Rocking my 808 Duo headphones right now on Spotify. VERY happy with them.
Zwilling 6 piece knife and block set. It's used everyday we're home for veggies, fruit and meat. Very few boxed foods ever since the young one arrived. Eat fresh.....and that shouldn't be used by subway, I call shenanigans.
@denboy Agreed on the Subway thing
A BuiltNY laptop case I traded for; I got 90 things during that episode. I also carry one of those flat rollable water bottles with me in my bag all the time, but I've never used it. Oh, and I use the little food scale every week when I bake bread.
I was just thinking the other day the opposite question, which do you use the least.
I wear my one Meh shirt from August 22 about once a week.
Also, I think the JBL USB Speakers will start getting a lot more use soon because I will be setting them up with my computer instead of my old Logitech speakers.
As a follow up to this, I found out that my computer doesn't like to power on when I have the JBL Pebbles plugged in, the mother board makes some ugly beep code and never powers up, so I have to unplug them before booting.
@TaRDy Wow, that sucks. The speakers sound great, but when I got mine the right one didn't work and it took 3 months to get a replacement...
@Al_Coholic that stinks even more than my problem. At least mine has a "simple" workaround.
@TaRDy Yeah that's true I guess. You might try to look up the beep codes for your motherboard online and see if you can figure out why it's doing that and if there's any easier way around it.
@Al_Coholic Yea, I just need to figure out how to have my BIOS ignore them on startup. Some day I won't be lazy and try to do that.
I have Meh shirts I have never worn. Oh, and I have one of those dome speakers I use a lot less than I thought I would, because the blue led is too bright to use it as a bedside speaker.
@Trin tape a lens from some sunglasses over it. boom.
@medz Oh, now that would be seriously fugly. Dude.
@Trin I mean, you could trim it down to the right size and put some super glue around the edges for a more seamless look if it achieves the desired results.
@medz I just use small pieces of electrical tape over all those lights.
@Odi i assumed it was like an lcd display you would not want to cover.
Comforters, sheets, and Meh shirts
Hm,
I'd probably say my Contigo mugs. I was skeptical, but they keep my coffee warm for hours. I pretty much use mine every day.
@hollboll I didn't expect to even use mine, thought I'd give them away as gifts but I use one every day and LOVE IT! It's awesome to drop my drink in my bag and not worry about it spilling!
I use my Ninja blender every morning. The other day I realized that, since it makes snow, I could make snow cones. They have some chunks of ice in them so they're not as good as an actual snow cone maker can make, but still good!
@Moose I did an entire party at a SF con using a ninja that way -- made snow cones drenched in in liquor and tourani syrups.
Aside from the air purifier orb, mine would be the little mini electronic scale. Other things that get frequent use are the big-ass set of batteries and the helicopters.
toss up between my TV, and my Comforter....
Unless you count the things that are always on.. like my weather station/weather radio (warranty replacement for Defective enter link description here, or My I'm amazed they are still working [enter link description here][4]
[4]: https://meh.com/deals/netgear-n900-dual-band-gigabit-wifi-router--refurbished- "Routers"...
I wear a Meh/Mediocre shirt almost every workday. I use my comforter and pillows every night for sleeping/fort purposes. I also use my AOC monitor instead of a TV in our living room for the moment. Use the cutting boards pretty frequently and often plug in my phone to a speaker dock when cooking dinner. My girlfriend has allergies so I bought her the air purifier we sold a little while back and maybe it's in my head but I feel like I've been breathing/sleeping better too…
To be honest my place is filled with stuff from meh that gets regular use, I'm really happy with almost all of my purchases.
One of the only things I regret buying are the Schrade knives we sold, and I only got them because I let you knife-crazy 'EDC' type people convince me it would be smart to have a knife around. I tried carrying one around for a few weeks and never used it.
@JonT Could you wash that shirt please? It's beginning to affect dev productivity...
@JonT I've got a $1 knife from Walmart that I've had with me every day for over 10 years. I don't use it often, but when I do it's nice to have.
For me, my Neato Vac-bot was by far the best purchase. We use it several times each week. But I've used my portable shower thingy every day since receiving a week ago. Great to water my deck plants from a bucket. Keep the innovative goods coming meh!
I use a Contigo mug pretty much every day. And one of the comforters is on my bed
The shirts.
Bromioli
The Rayovac AA batteries and the Speck Candyshell case for my iPad Mini.
Speaker docks. Multiples of them. Every day :) or the shirts. But as it heats up the shirts are becoming after work attire not just undershirts
The netgear WNR4500 router. Installed it when I got it and its been rock solid. And there's always a device somewhere in our house going on the 'net, so its always in use.
Netgear WNDR4500 N900 router is used every single day so I guess that easily wins. But ioGear pocket power packs, and Chicago Cutlery walnut steak knives are multiple times a week too.
The MetaWatch, hands down.
The Panasonic Immersion blender is getting a lot of use. Just made pineapple salsa with it tonight. Plus my Meh shirt and socks get worn every week.
Batteries, batteries, batteries.
Contigo Mugs and pillows get used daily
Comforter, pillows, 10 ft micro usb cables, batteries are all used daily.
The meh shirt, the espresso maker, and the mini (cheap) drones (helicopters).
AOC Monitor is by far the most used. Followed by Contigo tumblers & meh/mediocre shirts.
In order of most to least used regularly; 1) Contigo mugs used daily, 2) Dome BT speaker every work day, 3) meta watch every day I've had it. :)
COOL GEAR STAY FIT COMBO SET - use a few pieces daily to take lunch to work. Then I'd say the t-shirts, after that 2-FOR-TUESDAY: SCHRADE G10 TANTO SERRATED KNIFE - I open a lot of packages and do general "if I break one I have a backup" utility knife work. Finally the AA Fujitsu batteries.
In the last week, it's been the USB stick I got in the Fukobukuro, followed by the 808 duo headphones. The batteries are in the list somewhere as well. Next up is probably the rc helicopters. My wife still uses the tea kettle, the USB cable from the fukobukuro, and the LED lanterns. My son, on the other hand, has dismantled two of the helicopters and mostly uses the batteries from Meh.
I have a lot of items that I have in my shelf that I have only barely used, or haven't found a use at all for yet, like the immersion blender and the capresso machine. Others are plugged in or stored in handy locations for the rare occasion where they might be of some use (flashlight, car jump starter, CREE led floodlamps.)
(if you asked me this a few months ago, I'd have said the plastic food receptacles, but those have mostly been misplaced by now.)
I use my button every day.
My rugged-enigmatic-body (23" AOC SLIM LED MONITOR) is the Meh item I use most, since it's my primary monitor, and it's awesome.
I would love to have a Meh shirt as my most used item, but they've never sold a shirt for anybody that weighs more than 200 pounds. Or 300 pounds, whatever. I would buy a buttload of them if they did (4x please! And not skinny 4x)
Also, if they ever got ahold of some refurbed Blendtecs (with wildside jars especially) I'd probably buy one of those, but I imagine it's difficult to undercut Blendtec selling refurbs on their own site.
Order of what I use the most:
1) Gigabit router (since my home server and other equipment use it 24/7)
2) Comforter (using it as a pillow right now)
3) Various knives (I always carry one on me since I bought them. Boy they are handy!)
4) batteries (too much electro do-dads)
5) Craig smart TV thing (use one in the bedroom. Rooted with plex and net flix)
I have yet to use:
1) jumper cables
2) silly cobra key finder thing
3) a bunch of plastic Dino's that came with my fuku
4) USB batter pack for phones and etc
5) various other crap I have sitting in a huge box I'm too lazy to list.
The Cool gear mug, it is great at holding coffee.
My wonderful Roomba!
The three beer glasses that survived shipping.
The AOC monitor and the Dyson.
We use the comforter every night. It's perfect for the husband and I use it with another blanket because I'm forever freezing. My kid loves the Gigs headphones from 2 fukus ago and uses them daily.
My MEHtawatch - every day
My MEHdar Detector - every day
My SpeakMEHr Dock - every night
@daytonatrbo New Mehta watch today... you could have one for each wrist.
contigo mugs, every workday sometimes use on weekends and since I have more than one, bring coffee for friend
meh shirt,, only have one and I bought it to wear to bed, which I do and as soon as it comes out of the dryer, that is what I wear to bed that night. want to get rid of all other tshirts I wear to bed and replace them all with meh shirts!
My son uses his Galaxy Tab from the fuku so much he's burned through two protective cases.
The Bluetooth speaker that looks like a giant purple breast. That one gets used during showers every day by my wife and I.
The JBL USB Speakers is plugged into my USB dock and used every weekday when I'm in the home office working. They are quite awesome.
My 4-in-1 or whatever blender/food processor/whisker thing. Handheld. What's it called? It's like a blending wand. It's so cash. Super easy to clean. Makes milkshakes, protein shakes, mashed cauliflower, soup, whipped cream, whipped eggs, EVERYTHIIIIIING!
@HELLOALICE Immersion blender. You're Welcome.
A shit load of batteries and I still haven't gone through all of 'em.. Oh, and those Moscow Mule Mugs (well, actually what's in 'em) can't seem to get enough of that brew.
The flood lights and the 808 headphones.
I think I've used 2-5 of the AA batteries I got back in September. The Bluetooth keyboard, also from September, I've probably used 15-20 times. Bluetooth audio receiver I think I used maybe twice. I got the phone accessory bundle with the 10-foot USB cables and used those quite a bit for the first few months, but never used the other stuff at all. Never used the roadside emergency kit. I got those crappy little plastic USB charger things for free and used one of them probably 3 times or so. Got a black meh on black shirt and wore it probably 3 or 4 times. Got the free socks and never wore them, probably never will. The JBL Pebbles are nice and I've used them probably 6-10 times so far, but it took me 3 months to wring a replacement out of JBL's terrible customer service department when one of the original speakers didn't work. Now that I finally have those I'll probably use them a bit more. The 808 headphones are nice and I think I've used them 2 or 3 times. I also got a second Bluetooth keyboard recently and used it once.
So it looks like either the keyboard or the long USB cables win. I'm guessing the cables, but I haven't used them in probably 2 or 3 months now. I still use the keyboard a couple times a month.
I use the X-Mini Kai speaker pretty regularly. It and the solar charger got me through 8 hours of yard work today with some decent music in the background.
tonight though, I was incredibly thankful for my second Kershaw EMT knife. I was in a skirt so I wasn't carrying the one I got for work, but the one I decided to keep in my car cut right through the bumper fragments after I got rear-ended on my way home.
No one was hurt and, thanks to the knife, we were both able to drive away. So I'll call that a win!
On a side note: for some reason, I brought the bumper home. I have no idea what to do with it.
@Kleineleh - Whew! SO glad you're okay.
@Kleineleh Done the same thing with my wiifes bumper only to toss it out a few days later. Good to hear you were ok.
@KDemo @StrangerDanger Thanks, guys! Insurance approved the claim this morning so all is good here. Think I'll just take the bumper to the body shop with the rest of the car and let them figure out what to do with it, haha
My roomba from the fuko box. Needed just a little rlc and runs great. Best $5 ever
It's a tough call, but probably the various water bottles. I drink like a fish
As far as hours per day, nothing I bought will get used more than the Boyd memory foam mattress. I use a Bracketron stand every day at work.
On the other end of the spectrum, I used a Stanley mug once then gave the pair away. It didn't keep my coffee warmer than my They Might Be Giants mug does. I gave away the blu-ray player before I even powered it up. (No elapsed time display made it unwanted by me.) Last week was the first time I used one of the cedar planks I bought back in August.
