@goldnectar@theangelicious1 But most likely crap that you wouldn’t buy unless there was a free IRK attached. All the stuff I’ve seen so far I can live without.
The anticipation of the IRK. Waiting for it to appear and feeling like you actually won something. It was like getting a Christmas present when it finally came and you got some random crap you probably couldn’t use but it was fun. It was worth the price and the lost sleep. This $50 IRK is not fun and not worth the money or the lost sleep.
It seems a permanent change so good night all.
The same reasons I come to Meh when there is no Meh-rathon: A combination of what Meh decides to sell and the reactions to them - only at a faster rate.
I have a meh sticker on my car that I’ve had since 2018. Someone in the forum sent me it since I had one on my previous car that I owned too, and wanted to continue the tradition.
Having come from the fuku era, and experiencing my first mehrathon and irk, as I took a very long break - I can’t say that I’m enjoying this too much.
I remember reading about people getting 30 tvs in their Fukus. Hell my best friend for a brand new ninja blender set, and a Roomba in his in the past.
I gave in and jumped on board though but after getting a hold of him, was informed that they suck now. Here I am refreshing my browser hoping a good deal shows up too to hit that 50.00 mark.
Who knows. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. A rambling of someone that hasn’t had much sleep tonight.
The fun was what went on all day, waiting to see if THIS TIME was the one, the magic time an affordable irk ($5) would show up… meanwhile interesting things went on in the forums (eg meh sponsored events some of which sometimes resulted in a free irk), snarky comments about the products, involvement of people the entire time, wild stories of how someone got one driving down the highway (and not wrecking the care in the process)… It was about the event and activities and affordable fun.
Now it is just about are you rich enough to spend $50 worth of junk we need to get rid of that even our brick and mortar store can’t get rid of it. And we will price it such that the odds are you have to buy a bit more than $50 to do so. It’s just a fire sale now, not a fun event that included “prizes”… although you had to pay $5 for that (most of the time). But even those who mostly only have enough money for just needs and not wants can afford, if you are lucky enough to hit buy at just the right time. Or win the contest or someone decides all that entered doing whatever you needed to do or create on that thread wins.
I have fuku bags. I would send a screenshot of “it worked” to my better half when I scored one. We anticipated the potential for something awesome. (Hola, bot)
Now? There is no point in checking in. Just come back at the end of the day when you can see if anything interests you and go. Why bother checking during the day?
@mediocrebot Silly bot didn’t understand that the whole point was the awesomeLESSness of the current format. All the joy is gone. Makes me a Sad Panda.
I kind of like the expensive IRK, because I don’t have the money to spend fifty bucks (on things I don’t want or need) just to get some random crap.
Frees my day up, for sure. I can check out what was being sold later and if anything catches my interest, buy it. Yesterday I got the pool toy since my husband threw the other ones out (they were in pretty bad shape). Ten bucks and less than ten minutes of my time.
Um. IRKs.
Just going out on a limb, here…
An IRK that doesn’t cost $50…
@theangelicious1 To be fair, it’s not a terrible new Irk system. That $50 Irk becomes free if you spend $50 or more on products, right?
@goldnectar @theangelicious1 But most likely crap that you wouldn’t buy unless there was a free IRK attached. All the stuff I’ve seen so far I can live without.
@Felton10 @theangelicious1 true. I’ve been watching a good portion of the day to justify $50. Nothing.
All of the choices used to make meh-rathons fun. Unfortunately only the last one has been true for quite some time. But hey! Enjoy the $50 IRK!
$5 IRKS randomly throughout the day!
$5 IRKs
The part that’s not here anymore.
Not the whining. That’s not fun at all.
Whatever it is/was you all seemed to have destroyed it.
Random Irks at a reasonable price
A big shipment from Archie McPhee.
@sammydog01 Yes! The best meh-rathons are the ones loaded with random stuff from Archie McPhee.
I just got to visit their office last week and see a bunch of their upcoming products. They’re so great!
@The_Tim It would be cool if they would sell a glow in the dark rubber chicken. (Just in case a staff member is reading.)
@sammydog01 I assume the “they” in that sentence is Meh? Because Archie McPhee does sell them: https://mcphee.com/products/glow-in-the-dark-rubber-chicken
@The_Tim I looked it up just yesterday after seeing them on Svengoolie. I would rather buy one here though.
@sammydog01 @The_Tim Why not cut out the middleman?
@blaineg @The_Tim Who wants to peruse catalogs when they can impulse buy stuff with a time limit?
$5 IRKs. At least, at one time.
Nothing, anymore. Y’all fucking suck
I like buying $50 for a idk. I can never get them.
The custom logo.
@medz It’s Bob BIRKer!!
/giphy come on down
@medz right?? It’s the graphics for me
@jenniferhebden Did you get in on that soap earlier?

@davidaddor They mostly live up to the name. Really, what do you expect?
But I did get this once.

A time machine.

I just came here to ask when the next Pasta Drop will be? That was EPIC.
@xenophod I think I still have some!
…except for the packages the mice found while I was away.
@xenophod agreed!
Echoing the sentiment of: nothing anymore.

… maybe they just couldn’t figure out how to keep the servers from crashing…
@pmarin Did you check out Woot yesterday? They just rolled with crashing servers.
@pmarin @sammydog01 It seemed like the BoC went on forever, and I still couldn’t get one.
@blaineg @pmarin @sammydog01 yeah I didn’t get one either and had it in my cart over 10 different times!
$5 irks, now that was fun!
Wow…it hasn’t been the stuff you have sold today.
I feel bad for community activities. They are underrepresented!
Where are the Bluetooth knives?
Between https://mcphee.com/ and https://www.perpetualkid.com/ why not roll your own high quality (?) IRK?
I kind of like the expensive IRK, because I don’t have the money to spend fifty bucks (on things I don’t want or need) just to get some random crap.

No complaints.
