What is your favorite Superbowl Commercial?
3OK, you all know it is that time of year. Talk in the office turns to the big game and inevitably, some don't care about sports or don't care who wins (RI is part of Patriot Nation so as long as the Broncos lose, we are alright with it). So the topic all can agree upon is Superbowl Commercials!
You know you love them, hate them, laugh at them, and cry with them. Watching a company spend millions on anything so fleeting is intriguing. And hey...you don't need to be a sports fan to weigh in.
So Boston.com has an article yesterday about the new Skittles Steven Tyler commercial. Respectable effort...C+ but not a lasting impression IMHO. You can watch it here.

My fave is still Mean Joe Green/Coke
@AnnaB
Sums up life.
@tmwest87 Love it. I have never seen that one before!
@tmwest87
Oh thank you.
@tmwest87 Punching a koala is never not funny.
@MrsPavlov I think this one sticks close for all of us that use a mac regularly. We are so many now!
@MrsPavlov Apple's 1984 ad is still one of the most iconic advertisements from the Super Bowl and its my personal favorite. Mean Joe Green's Coca Cola commercial comes in a close second for its emotion heart string tugging.
Rounding out my top five would be the Budweiser Clydesdale horses kneeling after 9/11, the Samsonite commercial featuring a gorilla throwing around the titular luggage and the Master Lock commercial where a lock takes a bullet but holds fast.
The boy as Darth Vader car commercial finishes in sixth followed by several Budweiser commercials featuring the Clydesdale horses such as "kicking the extra point" and "zebra at the replay booth."
cat herders
@Vertabrae The guy with the ball of yarn...awesome. Only topped by the guy with the lint brush!
Who remembers this tearjerker? Wife and I saw it and both teared up. Of course that was just a few months after 9/11. Arguments of opportunistic commercialism aside, it was an effective ad/tribute. The optimist in me would like to think it was done in complete, utter sincerity.
@mydrivec This. Totally sincere commercial. Makes me cry every single time.
@mydrivec Wow. Damn. They should put that on again this year.
@jqubed love it but I am very glad no one says whatsuuuuuup anymore !

Edit sowwy was mobile link.
@f00l
I guess i'm odd. This is my all time favorite.
@Cerridwyn I've never seen that one. Very nice. Not odd at all!
@mydrivec thanks. Something about it called to me. Cause i don't ever watch the game. not in 60 years. but someone told me about the commercial and i hunted it up.
