@FroodyFrog I’ve read this before and it is incredible. I felt bad for the penguin but circle of life and all. Animals exhibit such kindness, with humans would practice it a little more. What a brave guy that photographer is and he got a story of a life time by putting that trust in that seal. Thanks for sharing that story it’s worth reading again.

I love that drive. Yes.

@jbartus The pic and the one you would be driving is the “Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel” which spans Virginia to the VA side of DelMarVa.
It is 23 miles long with a huge tunnel in the middle so ships may pass. It has a fishing pier in the middle, a gift shop and it’s own police force.

Also not to be confused with the Bay Bridge which is the old death trap bridge that I have to drive all the time (spans western shore to eastern shore of MD.

@mfladd I drove over that the last time I headed south, I had no idea how I got on it or what it was I just remember seeing a sign for a bridge and it’s like ‘okay’ and it never ended and then there was a tunnel and I was like ‘the hell is this?’ xD Very cool piece of engineering.

@jbartus it really is considering it was created 50 yrs ago. In 1965 is was named “one of the top 7 engineering marvels in the world”.

It was also created without local, state, or federal tax dollars. Imagine what it would cost today?

one minor difference in interpretation is the voluntary aspect of it. the discipline is more focused on giving up ‘the self’ and following what is prescribed by The Church - being obedient. obviously it is a choice, and many in the Eastern Church ignore the practice, but it’s not intended to be voluntary.
