thinly sliced Red Onions - yumm!
Don’t knock it until you have honestly tried it.
My uncle served PB&O to the troops in his mess when he was in the army and THEY liked it. So there to naysayers.
@JohnQ118
Did the troops have other options?
Were they out of jelly & honey?
or just peanut butter & bread?
ima try it.

…
.
yeah that’s ok.
not my go to.
but yeah that’s ok.
acceptable.
sort of.
interesting.

.
this was one of those things where all that was available was onions and peanut butter right?
How else did someone come up with this combo?
It certainly wasn’t out of choice.
acceptable.
not my go to.
you didn’t ruin my night or anything from this.
but it definitely raises questions.
@JohnQ118 this was one my mom liked to make. I have a feeling that it would be better with a sautéed onion vs. raw for most people. Or a Vidalia instead of a red.
@RogerWilco – Actually, the story my uncle told was he once ASKED them what they wanted and some wiseacre called out PB&Onion Sandwiches! so that is what he made, and he and the soldiers LIKED it. He made it for years after release from service. As a young teen I thought it was icky but tried it for lunch and found it delicious.
He’s long passed now…
@Vrysen yes!!! My sister and I eat PBJ and pickle sandwiches. It’s even better if you add a thin layer of plain lays. For us it stems from our childhood daycare. They ALWAYS served those things as a set lunch and my sister and I would make them into a complete sandwich. If you like pickles and you like PBJ. Put them together. You won’t regret it. I do think that making an emulsion or fully mixing the on with the j helps to balance it more.
I agree, except for the bread, white bread disintegrates when I hold it. Have too have something that will hold enough to spread the PB on. But then again, I usually get the natural PB, so maybe it’s that?
I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t really like peanut butter?
I’ll eat it if there’s nothing else, but I won’t miss it if I’m out of it. I keep it for the dogs.
Nilla wafers. Raspberries or blackberries. Burger. Replacement for tahini in hummus. Rice cakes. Crackers. Celery sans raisins. Pancakes. Cheesecake. Layered between my peanut brittle cake layers. Protein shakes. Crepes with thinly sliced banana and honey drizzle. These are a few of my favorite things.
I mix 1-lb PB with 12-oz honey and optionally add a lot of cinnamon (up to 2-Tbsp) and mix thoroughly.
I have named this ‘Peanut Honey Butter’.
Just try and not eat to much of it in a sitting.
Honey or jelly with banananananas. I usually make burritos.
@yakkoTDI OMG that sounds AWESOME!
LEGOS! EGGOS! STRATEGO! AWESOME!
@yakkoTDI Yes! And best if gently warmed in the microwave, making the tortilla soft and the PB gooey.
@yakkoTDI
Some smoothie place makes a grilled tortilla (or something like it) with honey, and banana and it’s so good.
@macromeh Or just keep it in the sun side of your pack while bicycle riding in the hot Florida sun. Cycling is why I started making them.
@Star2236 Tropical Smoothie if it is the what I am thinking of. Delicious but a little messy.
@macromeh @yakkoTDI
Yes, definitely messy
On whole wheat bread!

@JohnQ118 @RogerWilco raw onion? Those go with mustard or mayonnaise fairly well.
Grilled onions, yes it would go with warm peanut butter.
@pakopako - YES thinly sliced RAW red onion.
As I said don’t knock it UNTIL you try it.
Waffles with syrup … no wait, saltine crackers … no wait, honey wheat bread nicely toasted …,. no wait, cinnamon graham crackers
@hchavers
Cininamon ghram crackers is a good one, I haven’t had that in a long time.
Marshmallow Fluff!! DUH!! Gotta have a Fluffernutter!!
@MrGoodGuy I need to pick up some Fluff on my next grocery trip. I haven’t had it in years.
@MrGoodGuy @yakkoTDI THIS! I don’t even like marshmallow, but Fluffernutters are next level!
A spoon
Brown sugar and bananas
Dog pills.
@phendrick You probably shouldn’t take those – you might want to check with the vet.
On banana slices then drizzled with dark chocolate syrup.
Dill pickles. Seriously, white bread, peanut butter and pickles slices.
@Vrysen Are you pregnant??
@Vrysen yes!!! My sister and I eat PBJ and pickle sandwiches. It’s even better if you add a thin layer of plain lays. For us it stems from our childhood daycare. I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t really like peanut butter?
I’ll eat it if there’s nothing else, but I won’t miss it if I’m out of it. I keep it for the dogs.
@Tadlem43 My dogs would never allow me to run out. Yours wanted me to remind you to add it to the grocery list. That is all.
@ircon96 Will do!
best discussion yet!
All of those plus I like to mush them up in my oatmeal or mix them with eggs and make “pancakes.”
@kittykat9180 Peanut butter and ripe banana in oatmeal - yum!
@macromeh no need to add sweetener.
Whiskey

@chienfou I’ve always been too afraid to try this.
@sillyheathen
It’s pretty good
Sliced sweet pickles. Only now I’ve figure out that sweet pickle relish is even easier!
Bread (duh if I am going to make a sandwich) and Honey. It is good with celery too.
/image crackers

A spoonful of PB sprinkled with dark semi-sweet chocolate chips and a light dusting of salt. Yum!
Honey.
Nilla wafers. Raspberries or blackberries. Burger. Replacement for tahini in hummus. Rice cakes. Crackers. Celery sans raisins. Pancakes. Cheesecake. Layered between my peanut brittle cake layers. @sillyheathen Thanks I’m out of tahini. I’ll try that
@honeybeehives3 it’s a pretty great hack when you don’t have the sesame paste.
Pb&j with cool ranch Doritos is my go to when I get home late and I’m I need something quick.
@Star2236
Oh boi, I have been waiting for this question. EVERYTHING goes well w PB. Even PB with MORE PB!!!
Woof!!!

I don’t like PB…
@ragingredd COMBO BREAKER!!!
I mix 1-lb PB with 12-oz honey and optionally add a lot of cinnamon (up to 2-Tbsp) and mix thoroughly.

On an apple: nature’s peanut butter delivery system (or celery if you’re some kind of heathen)
@pakopako hahaha damn straight! Also apples are delicious delivery mechanisms.
