@tinamarie1974 Same here. I absolutely never just watch TV or have it play in the background. I sit down to watch a specific show or movie then turn it off.
@callow@f00l@therealjrn I like a FEW of those, but I think it is called Rock-a-billy. FGL did a nice collaboration with Nelly called Cruise. Sam Hunt has one called Body Like a Back Road. And well, of course, Big and Rich Save a Horse
@mike808 Yes!! I preordered MP Trilogy for the fancy steel disc case and sleeve, and the art book. It’s a fantastic collection of three amazing games. Im hoping for a ‘quadrilogy’ at some later point, after Metroid Prime 4 releases, with the earlier three games remastered in HD…imagine being able to play the entire series anywhere.
depends on the time of day. there’s a part in one of my favorite movies, high fidelity where john cusack’s character says that it’s not that he likes the music that is on during the scene necessarily but, “i just want something i can ignore.” that’s me.
in the morning i’ll sometimes put on npr, then switch over to tv. (although for awhile now i’ve just enjoyed silence while reading email or doing household stuff until about noon.) hgtv is good for ignoring depending on which show is on. (but like food network they really only have about five shows in heavy rotation so i can usually…set it, and forget it! pause for studio audience applause)
around 4 i’ll switch over to twitch and usually watch shroud, vsnz, tsmviss, or drdisrespect.
before bed i always watch an episode of house followed by an episode of star trek. (any variety except the original - too many random loud soundtrack noises - but tng & ds9 are my favorites. i never make it through a whole episode before zzzzzzz)
@jerk_nugget also i will sometimes choose a movie i’ve seen a zillion times (especially if it’s one of the oceans movies) but only if it’s on tv…which baffles and annoys my partner since we have everything i watch this way downloaded & commercial free but there’s just a mental block with deciding to put on a movie, like i feel tied to it or have to watch it. it’s distracting. i do the same thing with music - when i’m driving i always listen to the regular radio instead of putting my own music on or listening to a streaming service. idk, i can’t explain these things lol.
don’t listen to music at home (unless i’m cleaning or sometimes if i’m in the kitchen for an extended period of time) because it’s too distracting. i’ll never accomplish anything because i’m enjoying the songs and going down youtube rabbit holes. can’t concentrate on a damn thing.
I have a Roku TV and generally it’s almost always on YouTube. There’s tons of 8 hour relaxation music/bird song videos with no ads with magnificent panorama views.There’s also videos for dogs of this length that I’ve also found enjoyable. Occasionally look up and see some beautiful birds or squirrels fighting over some seed. I can’t focus (or sleep) with human voices in the background.
White noise, white noise, white noise! Fans and HEPA air cleaners. Air cleaners on high is the way I manage to get some sleep during the month my neighbors celebrate Independence Day. It also works fairly well as a substitute for noise-canceling headphones.
I just let her talk.

@tinamarie1974
@cinoclav hhuummm you are way too willing for it to be a punishment
@tinamarie1974 Ummm… don’t spank me?
Why wasn’t music a choice???
/giphy rock n roll
@tinamarie1974 That’s what I was going to say, too.
@tinamarie1974 yup. Music! Preferably something without words.
@Pony great minds
@tinamarie1974 Chopin, List, with Red Hot Chili Peppers.
@tinamarie1974 This is another poll sponsored by “Duh.”
@2many2no true, but we need to remember they likely blew their weekly wad on Mondays birthday celebration. Hopefully it returns to normal next week!!
@tinamarie1974 for me the answer is: Loscil, Endless Falls.
@tinamarie1974 me too! Music FTW…
@tinamarie1974 Same here. I absolutely never just watch TV or have it play in the background. I sit down to watch a specific show or movie then turn it off.
@callow @tinamarie1974
Hard rock. Or thrash. Or jazz. Or Mozart/Bach. Or choral music.
Depending on mood.
@callow @f00l for me hard rock, classic rock, rock, pop, R&B, some rap, and old blues
@callow @f00l @tinamarie1974 I listen to both kinds of music.
Country AND Western
@callow @f00l @therealjrn I like a FEW of those, but I think it is called Rock-a-billy. FGL did a nice collaboration with Nelly called Cruise. Sam Hunt has one called Body Like a Back Road. And well, of course, Big and Rich Save a Horse

@therealjrn You don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here!
QVC
That sounds much more like punishment.
I tend to pick anything I don’t need to pay attention to. That usually means something I’ve seen but it can also be cooking shows and the like
@ivannabc If I leave Food Network on for more than two hours I end up watching cooking shows I’ve already seen.
Not TV
I don’t use TV for background as it is too distracting for all.
Nothing. I am perfectly okay with silence.
Open the window to hear the katydids and cicadas sign songs of romance.
@hchavers
you must have good ears…
@chienfou They sign very loud with their back legs.
Now, if I could just find a bigger on-screen keyboard.
I’ve literally never done this ever. Ever.
Silence is fine with me.
All are options except “sports”. Well and “reality TV” because there is no such thing
I’m usually an audiobook guy, or, as the above commenters noted, music.
Pandora
Anything CSI. They’re so formulaic, that you can easily know what is going on anytime you glance at it.
Um. Music? I mean: Speakers, yeah? So like, music.
Recently, this! (There’s a second one too, linked in the description for the first)
@PooltoyWolf One of the G.O.A.T games HOF.
Trilogy on the Wii was just a joy to play.

Yep. I always have frasier on in the background (I work from home)
“Alexa, play …”
streaming some music
White noise.
Has nobody heard of the radio these days? Perfect background!
4KTV on Pluto channel
Science channel and/or Discovery channel.

Jazz, usually instrumental.
Slow TV
Buddha bar playlist on pandora
I normally just pop on an episode of Star Trek (DS9 or TNG usually) or a synthwave playlist. Idk why but it helps me focus.
Shark week, or anything Bigfoot
Steven Colbert News Segment and Meanwhile…

i can’t stand tv in the background
