We did family Christmas on Saturday due to bad weather here. I’m very much looking forward to having the day off and no screeching, screaming, niblings. I’m also looking forward to the blizzard we’re supposed to have and snuggling with my cats.
Seeing my kids’ reactions. So I guess in a roundabout way, I should have picked “the presents” instead of “something else” but I often vote in these polls too quickly.
My kids are 5 and 7, and they still get so excited about everything. That’s the best part.
@LaserEyes The best part of Christmas for me is giving gifts, and it doesn’t matter the age of the recipient. Even I admit that the kiddos have the best reactions.
@kjady@LaserEyes Yes seeing people you chose presents for really pleased with their gifts is so nice. I gave my grandkids their gifts a week ago on Sunday and they were so excited running their stunt remote control cars everywhere inside and out. The 2 year old gathered all her stuff (little red and yellow bus she could sit in and drive with her feet I found on a curb alert, blue plastic rocking horse and a sit on and push with your feet creature of some sort) around her as she was rocking on her horse being ver protective of her new stuff. It was a hoot. Meanwhile the kids were using her and her stuff as an obstacle in the driveway for their trick remote control cars. And nobody was fighting.
The family gathered together, sharing a large meal, telling family secrets that aren’t anymore; another words, just reconnecting with the family to reminisce old memories and make new ones.
Sitting around doing nothing. Actually I will be delivering gift sacks to first responders who have to work Christmas Day. Our church started doing that a few years back.
finally getting to give SWMBO the gifts I have been squirreling away for the last few months. I will put them out when I go home after this night shift and then wait to watch her open them later today, before I go back to work this afternoon.
Having all my kids back home. They’re adults and have their own lives and their own families, but today we are all together, and that’s the best gift I can get.
My shift to end.
@yakkoTDI BTDT, though not lately. Oddly enough, I miss that, because having to work meant that I could ignore what day it was.
Maybe I’ll mow the lawn later.
@yakkoTDI
yep… wrapping up 12 hours, off eight then back for 8 today.
364 days to not have Christmas…
@shahnm
My dinner at Wendy’s.
Yes, that Wendy’s.
Not being at work.

Tomorrow is just another day

Santa’s bringing me a basketball?

(Didn’t realize i’d been that good this year.)

@phendrick Be careful with that thing, you don’t want to pull a hammy or something!
@ircon96 That implies running or jumping, so don’t worry.
Cheese.
After the family gets together, has a fine meal, and opens gifts, the peace and tranquility are awesomely overwhelming.

@tweezak
thanks for that…
The relief of:

Being with my sons and chilling by the fire after a big dinner. Merry Christmas, Meh.
Family stuff. And watching the little kids be thrilled.
Sitting alone with my wife, watching Christmas movies, without having to be around another person.
Having all my kids back home. They’re adults and have their own lives and their own families, but today we are all together, and that’s the best gift I can get.
the free Monday off
We’re having two couples, one with two adult “children,” over for dinner tonight.
