@moonhat Hum that would be what? A 3 or so day drive. I’d never make it by the time you cast off The boats I have owned have all looked like they were only good for boat anchors. But I enjoyed them and the plus side of owning a totally trashed boat is that cosmetics no longer matter. Saves a lot of time on maintenance
I bought lawn chairs! To sit in outside on the lawn! In the shade in the day and drag them to another spot to watch the stars come out.
Then he reminds me that I need to redo the pricing on the website. He’s raising prices because of the tariffs (he was told earlier this month from our main supplier that new orders would have a 25% tariff charge). We’re only raising our prices 10%, but it’s still work for me. He hasn’t raised prices in almost two years.
30 friends and family for dinner; everyone brings stuff. Set up a kiddie pool and put in goldfish for the younger kids to play in. But it’s going to be so damn hot and humid I don’t know how long the parents can stand to be out there with them.
@therealjrn They all have little fish nets. What they seem to like is to scoop up a fish out of the pool and put it in a bucket. After they get a few in the bucket, they scoop them out of the bucket and back in the pool!
@2palms I don’t know about the brooder. But if you start picking them up and playing with them at a young age, they’ll become your cuddle buddies. Leaky cuddle buddies, but cuddle buddies nonetheless.
Saturday, I’ll be going to a blackberry festival and hopefully coming home with some delicious blackberry wine, beer, and baked goods. Sunday, I’m going to PAX.
@Kidsandliz I’m pretty sure at some point in time this whole town was just one giant blackberry bramble. They grow everywhere and are treated mostly as a nuisance. Without trying we have a fairly substantial bramble, luckily mostly outside the fence so it’s a bit easier to contain. This was it’s second year of growth, before we moved in the previous owners had mowed it down to the ground. So far I think I’ve got about 10 cups of berries and there’s still a couple more weeks before all the berries are done.
@metaphore We used to have so many at my grandmother’s farm that 13 kids could eat what they wanted, trampling them so as not to get sliced up and there’d still be some left for the “aunts”. Then a certain, shall remain nameless, relative sprayed them all with roundup some years ago. Last summer I found some wild ones in an open field up the mountain behind the campfire area. They weren’t quite ripe and so two of us picked the few ripe ones that were there, ate a couple and then gave the rest of them to the (now elderly) aunts for nostalgia’s sake. These were tiny ones and some sour ones, the ones along the side of the yard the berries were as big as one’s thumb and so sweet. I miss them.
Since I am not actually working, I dropped the car off to get an oil change and look at my brakes.
Was hoping to do some work on my garden but this tropical depression is already bringing lots of annoying rain and it’s just going to get worse all week.
Looks like it’ll be a Netflix weekend with my mom and bro.
@Targaryen well, it turned out not to rain for most of the day so my brother changed my brake shoes on my car. I got a sunburn trying to be a helpful assistant. One of the parts got damaged, or was on its way out anyway so another trip to the auto parts store. It only cost about $60 in parts. $40 of that was the shoes and the mechanic wanted $230 to fix it so either way I came out ahead. I would of paid cuz I have no idea what I’m doing but he insisted it was a rip off. Took him longer than the mechanic, I’m sure, but I don’t have the special tools they use.
We ended up watching Extinction. 3/5 stars. Apparently it was supposed to go to theatres but Netflix bought it from Universal. I would of probably been bummed if I paid a full price movie ticket for it, but for Netflix, it was fine. Watched an episode of Alaska State Troopers. Currently watching YouTube. Dinner is on the way. We’ll pick something else to watch while we eat.
Picked up call for my coworker who had to go to a funeral today. Got called in and now I’m sitting watching a patient sleep under my camera. Going out to dinner tomorrow to celebrate my birthday a few days early. (It’s on the 5th if you want to send an IRK.) Monday I’ll be deepening the concavity in my mattress most of the day.
I thought I would be spending the weekend finishing up the first draft of a short story. But, it turns out I finished it today (Saturday). So now I don’t know what to do with the rest of my weekend.
@Kidsandliz Wow, due to a weird anomaly in space time, this reply, which seems to be coming to you Saturday afternoon, is really from Monday evening. If only I had seen it time I would have been there. Really.
@parodymandotcom STORY UPDATE: I had considered the story, told from the point of view of a CONTROL agent on Earth, to be a completed first draft. But then both of my remaining neurons fired in synchronicity, and I had a thought: I could write an entire second story from the point of view of Starfleet. The two stories combined would make a complete tale. So that’s what I’m working on now.
@parodymandotcom STORY UPDATE II: Initial draft complete! I say “initial draft” because I don’t consider it a first draft until I’ve completed my first round of edits. Then (since this is a fanfiction story and not for profit) I’ll have only one or two friends read it and provide feedback. Then a final round of edits and I’ll post it for everyone to read.
Website update took four hours, which included breakfast and one giant sized tantrum (mine, cats wouldn’t let me alone).
Now, it’s all mine. Took a nap, watching Sherlock Holmes in vudu, then gonna take a shower, then embossing ink, a couple of seasonal stamps, glitter embossing powder,a heat took and I’ll be ready for the rest of the weekend.
Or beads and ribbon and glue. I’ll enjoy every minute of it.
Evening outside in our awesome new lawn chairs, where we’ll watch the birds go into the liquid amber tree for the evening and the stars come out as the sky darkens.
Got up, binged watched some Ozark then got moving. Had to go shopping because in my infinate wisdom I decided it was a good idea to invite the family over for bbq tomorrow. Did the shopping, made the side dishes, did the yard work, cleaned the blow up pool for the kiddos and am currently filling it and am now taking a break before dusting and mopping. Phuf
@Barney@tinamarie1974 I would clean up if someone would make delicious burgers for me. I was re-invited to a lot of parties when I was a party guy because I’d wake up early in the morning and start cleaning up on my own.
@Barney@therealjrn@tinamarie1974 I clean on the weekends, usually and I do dishes when needed and dinner every other night. Not sure if Meh is into selling rare one-off items.
@Barney@Targaryen@therealjrn I do about the same, but have found paper plates to be amehzimg. So much less washing…I refuse to run the dishwasher for a few items.
Things are slow down at the pool. I’m watching this movie called “Captain Fantastic” on the free Showtime weekend. I can’t decide if I like it or not. It seems a little contrived but I like the storyline so far.
Sleeping is my plans
Alas, that hasn’t been so true. Thus so far, I’ve had LESS sleep than usual.

@moonhat Can I come? Never been there yet and on a sailboat make it even better.
@Kidsandliz come on up (over?), Liz, anytime! Our boat isn’t the shiniest biggest or newest around but she’s a good egg.
@moonhat Hum that would be what? A 3 or so day drive. I’d never make it by the time you cast off

My wife hasn’t told me yet.
@jst1ofknd
We are having a cookout tomorrow. Grilling and swimming in the pool…
Well, the grilling will not be done in the pool.
Had people over last night instead of tonight. It was the way to go as we wanted them to be able to stay late.
The last of our guests left after midnight. The problem really is that I forgot to turn off my 7 AM alarm…
I’d like to post pics of my weekend, that started yesterday. Is there anyway to post an album rather than one pic at a time?

Meh.
Packing, applying for jobs, finish last year’s taxes. I’d prefer to go to the gulf coast, camp, swim and play. Not in the cards.
Watching college football. Duh.
Swimming and Disneyland.
smoking my first whole brisket…
@bullrocky nice! Please post pics after too!
@moonhat i will…!
@bullrocky here it is…
@bullrocky

@pooflady That kiddie pool idea sounds great!
@therealjrn They all have little fish nets. What they seem to like is to scoop up a fish out of the pool and put it in a bucket. After they get a few in the bucket, they scoop them out of the bucket and back in the pool!
@therealjrn A couple talk their parents into taking the fish home, but generally the leftover ones are used for bait.
Uhhh making a chicken brooder for the 10 chicks I impulsively bought Wednesday. Anyone know how to keep a heat lamp safe in a box full of shavings‽
@2palms I don’t know about the brooder. But if you start picking them up and playing with them at a young age, they’ll become your cuddle buddies. Leaky cuddle buddies, but cuddle buddies nonetheless.
@therealjrn ha! Leaky is gross. And hilarious. Thanks BD
Yahoo they’re in

@metaphore blackberry festival? I LOVE blackberries.
@Kidsandliz I’m pretty sure at some point in time this whole town was just one giant blackberry bramble. They grow everywhere and are treated mostly as a nuisance. @metaphore Mmmmmmm. Blackberry jam.
I’ll be working all weekend. It will be interesting as I think I may have a touch of food poisoning.
@msklzannie That’s unfortunate.
Since I am not actually working, I dropped the car off to get an oil change and look at my brakes.
Was hoping to do some work on my garden but this tropical depression is already bringing lots of annoying rain and it’s just going to get worse all week.

@cinoclav Happy advanced birthday.
@Targaryen Aww, thank you!
Watching free Showtime, but not sure what they’re trying to do here…

I thought I would be spending the weekend finishing up the first draft of a short story. But, it turns out I finished it today (Saturday). So now I don’t know what to do with the rest of my weekend.
@parodymandotcom come to my house I need to pack to move.
@Kidsandliz Wow, due to a weird anomaly in space time, this reply, which seems to be coming to you Saturday afternoon, is really from Monday evening. If only I had seen it time I would have been there. Really.
@parodymandotcom And I have a tardis I can let you use. No problem.
@Kidsandliz D’oh!
@parodymandotcom Sharing it here for us to read maybe?
@Targaryen When the final draft is done I could do that. It’s a story that combines the old Get Smart! TV show with Star Trek.
@parodymandotcom Get Smartrek?
@parodymandotcom Missed it by that much, Captain.
@parodymandotcom STORY UPDATE: I had considered the story, told from the point of view of a CONTROL agent on Earth, to be a completed first draft. @lisaviolet I like the last bit very evocative.
So I woke up, had a beer and played some games. Doing nothing is everything I thought it would be.
Got up, binged watched some Ozark then got moving. Had to go shopping because in my infinate wisdom I decided it was a good idea to invite the family over for bbq tomorrow. I A M E X H A U S T E D!!!
@tinamarie1974 Sounds like you are having the same kind of a busy day that @Targaryen is having. Uh… maybe not.
@tinamarie1974 Don’t forget the goldfish for the pool.
@therealjrn omg my niece would shit attack it I did that. There would be some major 6yr old meltdowns going on lol
@Barney @Targaryen I would so trade w Targaryen…wanna trade?
or come help. I have killer 1/2 # burgers

@tinamarie1974 Yum hamburgers. Make mine with cheese. I’m real good at cleanup.
Can I bring Jethro? He’s been working his ass off lately and needs a day off.
@Barney as long as you help clean up. That is always the hard part, finding ppl to help me pick up after!
@tinamarie1974 Well, I make it a policy to never clean up after Jethro.
@Barney @tinamarie1974 I would clean up if someone would make delicious burgers for me. I was re-invited to a lot of parties when I was a party guy because I’d wake up early in the morning and start cleaning up on my own.
@Barney @Targaryen @tinamarie1974 A self-cleaning man? Unpossible.
@Targaryen @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 I haven’t seen one yet.
@Barney @Targaryen @therealjrn can Meh sell them. I would take at least two!
@Targaryen @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 Yeah, but just like a lot of things meh sells, they wouldn’t work half the time, if at all.
@Barney @Targaryen @therealjrn and that’s different from a regular man how? Rim shot please!!
@Targaryen @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 Hahaha, so true.
@Barney @Targaryen you are invited! But do I have to give you a spot to crash to get you to help?
@Barney @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 I clean on the weekends, usually and I do dishes when needed and dinner every other night. Not sure if Meh is into selling rare one-off items.
@Barney @tinamarie1974 Excellent. No, not needed but appreciated.
@Barney @Targaryen @therealjrn I do about the same, but have found paper plates to be amehzimg. So much less washing…I refuse to run the dishwasher for a few items.
@Barney @Targaryen that is fair!
@Barney @Targaryen @therealjrn I survived and actually had help cleaning up!! Looking forward to tomorrows plan of NOTHING lol
@tinamarie1974 Yay!!
Watching Critical Roll, learning C++,and playing Gloomhaven.
Things are slow down at the pool. I’m watching this movie called “Captain Fantastic” on the free Showtime weekend. I can’t decide if I like it or not. It seems a little contrived but I like the storyline so far.
@therealjrn that’s like a lot of tv and movies these days.
@Targaryen Yep. I need to start reading more.
