@PhysAssist BattleBots was awesome. I was really sad when it got dropped, but it was on Comedy Central, a terrible fit. Of course if they did it now we'd get 20% actual battles, 40% drama and angst about families and problems being a bot-builder, and the rest commercials
@cengland0 I still consider the Byron, Belleci, and Imahara episodes as the "later" seasons. Imahara didn't even make an appearance until the 40th episode and the series was almost a quarter way through before the trio became a fixture. They now have accumulated 26 episodes after the group left, which while still far fewer than the the pre-trio years, is still a significant number. I suppose we should call their years the middle seasons.
Aw, didn't realize it was ending! I haven't had a TV for a long time, but occasionally I would catch the show at a friend's house or whatever… part of me would always cringe at the glaring holes in their process, but it was still incredibly entertaining. Shame to see it go.
@brhfl Holes in their process... yep. I wrote to them more than once, though I don't know if any of my letters or emails ever mattered. Still, it was fun, and they did get into real science sometimes, and opened up a lot of interesting questions. I would bet they inspired some folks to get into the sciences and engineering through the years too. Not a bad legacy.
There is suppose to be one last 'not previously aired' episode on the Science Channel, I think tomorrow. But they had the farewell episode and reunion episode tonight.
I am sad. Mythbusters, whatever its problems, was a bright spot in the midst of all the reality sewage. I guess Discovery now has an extra timeslot to put something incredibly stupid in.
Jamie Heineman was so verclempt at the end that he couldn't even wave, much less say "Good Bye" like all of the other cast members.
The goodbye from Mr Obama touched a few heartstrings too, as did some of the testimonials written in by people who had life-changing events affected by what they saw or learned from MythBusters.
@PhysAssist I try to learn something new every day.
Word of the day: Verklempt is a Yiddish word that means "overcome with emotion." Pronounced "fer-klempt," people use it when they are so emotional that they're on the verge of tears or at a loss for words due to their emotional state.
@mikibell I suggest you give yourself an out by mentioning your allergies have been acting up this weekend. Sniffle a bit beforehand, blow your nose a couple times. You'll be fine.
They had like an open ended series order from Discovery but I think it all fell apart when Grant did the shilling for McDonald's. Wasn't long after that they abandoned the co-hosts and I stopped watching. I miss it already though.
I still say Jamie Hyneman would be a great Halloween costume for a kid. just how adorably cute would it be to see a little kid with that 'stache, and beret walking up to your door?
@f00l Except he walks around saying things like "The Status is NOT QUO, mommy." and "Captain Hammer... threw a car... at my head." No one else has any idea what the heck he is talking about.
I liked the earlier seasons when they had Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara. I enjoy watching their failures.
@cengland0 that kari byron. She sure is something.
@medz Only the second ginger love of my life there.
@cengland0 I also loved Grant because he was the champion of one of my other favorite shows- Battle Bots.

Buster is gone... just... gone...
@duodec That was too amazing- I think they tore spae-time and sent him through the wormhole...
Otherwise how do explain the complete and total disappearance or disintegration of so much metal and plastic.
Oh Buster, we hardly knew ye.
@PhysAssist - Bastards! They killed Buster.
Rocket sled was always one of my favorite segments

I've got some serious catching up to do. I need a weekend day with no commitments to binge watch it.

@cengland0
No SNL? That's where i learned the word, on "Coffee Talk".
The classic one:
I'm a dork. I cried,
@LinnE oh no, I dvr'ed it so I can watch it with my son. He will not let me live it down, if I cry....
@mikibell I suggest you give yourself an out by mentioning your allergies have been acting up this weekend. Sniffle a bit beforehand, blow your nose a couple times. You'll be fine.
@LinnE awesome idea!
@LinnE me too
They had like an open ended series order from Discovery but I think it all fell apart when Grant did the shilling for McDonald's. Wasn't long after that they abandoned the co-hosts and I stopped watching. I miss it already though.
Didn't realize it was still running. Oh well.
I still say Jamie Hyneman would be a great Halloween costume for a kid.
just how adorably cute would it be to see a little kid with that 'stache, and beret walking up to your door?
@earlyre gives me an idea...
Mine was Dr. Horrible 2 years ago when he was 2 1/2.
@MsELizardBeth Dr. Horrible is only 4 1/2 years old?
@DrWorm mine is. He's very advanced in his Horribleness.
@MsELizardBeth
Dr Horrible is the perfect Halloween outfit for a 2 year old. No prob staying in character!
@f00l Except he walks around saying things like "The Status is NOT QUO, mommy." and "Captain Hammer... threw a car... at my head." No one else has any idea what the heck he is talking about.
@MsELizardBeth
"The Status Is NOT QUO", spoken by a 2 year old wanting sweets, is hilarious.
Thx.
Perhaps he is a super-annoying budding genius?
@f00l I would agree that he's a genius.
