@Bretterson Meh introduced me to Buldak selling it by the case like 2 years ago, and they just sold the Buldak carbonara sauce paired with the mushroom noodles a few weeks ago. So I associate them with Meh.
@Kyeh If they’re any good, I wonder when we’ll see fifteen trailers full of Kraft getting M&CDropped. (Please, by all of the lesser ghods of the net, let none of it land on my porch.)
@PurrpetualNap I got it at the Walmart neighborhood market, so regular grocery store. They had it in boxes or easy mac bowls for those who want less mac for their money.
Review: I did the sweet corn. It’s pretty good, it does taste like corn flavored things (like sweet corn chips I’ve tried), and then there’s the spice. I’m not disappointed, it’s spicier than I expected for a 2/5 rating on the scale. But I think their ramen is better than the mac and cheese.
I do note that it’s all powder and sauce. There’s no cheese packet but there’s also no instructions to add butter and/or milk. I bet going off script with a little butter and milk would make it creamier.
Three stars. I’d eat it again if offered, but I’d probably not buy this flavor again. I think the mushroom noodles with the carbonara sauce is a bit tastier.
I’ll try the carbonara some other time, but I already suspect that because I have bottles of carbonara sauce i could achieve the same thing by adding that to regular Mac and cheese.
Verdict: it’s neat, but unless you are a buldak super fan, you probably don’t need to go out of your way to get it.
My inner pedant compels me to point out that Buldak “refers to the concept of Korean spicy chicken”, and is not a brand name. Samyang makes several products inspired by Buldak, hence why the word appears on some of their packaging.
Having said that, I must take a meander down the mac & cheese aisle at my local supermarket as soon as possible.
@DuckyJ I’m a big fan of inner pedants, but I’m going by the biggest word on the box as my primary reference to the product. I’m not sure what the technicalities are but that would seem to effectively be their brand.
@djslack@DuckyJ@chienfou This clears up a couple of things!
First, Buldak is a brand owned by Samyang, and second, the mascot is a female chicken named Hochi.
Quick check on the app shows that it’s not available at my local WM (town of 5000). It is however available within 30-45 minutes from here at the next biggest towns East and West.
As usual YMMV…
I’ve never even heard of Buldak.

@Bretterson

That’s a disappointing lack of knowledge of meh lore for an inked Kickstarter!
Oh, those are interesting. I wonder when we’ll see them here?

@Kyeh @werehatrack A few years ago, Kraft finally made the ingredients less artificial but most likely they’ll never get back the market they’ve lost.
I never heard of the product but my granddaughter knows it well and she said she loves everything they put out
I bought her the hot sauces from you and she’s just thrilled surprise me now I have to look for your other products with that name
Buldak currently has a collab going with Panda Express too
@Ignorant
See note about “Buldak” below.
(and WTF is that thing in the bottom left corner… a Picasso-esque chicken?)
Omg where did you find the buldak mac and cheese? I MUST have some!
