Visitor count question?
7Just wondering. I like to look at the visitor - phone - tablet- buyer stats. My question is am I being counted as a visitor every time I check from my phone, or is the MEH counter smart enough to knoww it is me again? And another part of this is when I go to work and check from my computer am I being counted multiple times from there too? I won't stop jacking with the stats i just want to know?

I'm sure it will count separate devices that you use when visiting as most sellers use the device's id but probably not with multiple visits on one device.
Two.
oh, wait...
Right now, we're counting unique "sessions" which means we count you once for every browser you use.
Ideally, that number is the unique number of physical people who visit the site across browsers and devices so you'll likely see us tweak this in the future. For example, we've started to get fancier with our bot detection which is throwing out over 5000 bot "sessions" per day.
@Shawn, So technically speaking, I have been counted 3 times today. I started with Safari on the iPhone, then for giggles I looked at the site with chrome ( to see if access to comments and replies was handled different or better (Not better)) from the phone and then I came to work and checked in with Internet Explorer?
And just cause I am a nerdy kind of sort, what is a bot throwing session?
@silverqueen we're trying to detect (and not count) bot sessions in our visitor count. most of this is Google crawling our site thousands of times per day.
@shawn Thanks for the explanation. That makes lots of sense.
@shawn, I could be wrong but I am under the impression that you are one of the web site programmers/developers? I sort of have a pain in the behind question. What is the difference in the way different browsers render web pages? For example if I use IE on my desktop the front page shows the October MEH clicks and has the (which appear to be text only) words July August September October but for me and my screen reader they are not clickable. The actual calendar days are clickable though. However In my sisters case using Chrome she can click the non-current months. When I use safari the older months are not there at all? Something sort of funny happens with the reply links in the comments. I can’t double tap them with the iPhone and it is hit or miss with the Bluetooth keyboard, sometimes it will click and others no go. Why would that happen? That is why my MEH button clicks are not up to snuff. I have been here every day since I found MEH but my clicks don’t always register. I don’t especially care cause I know I came, saw, and concord but no one else does. Smile Now I will totally understand if you tell me “I don’t know It is complicated stuff!” I just thought I would ask.
Thanks for the time. Isn’t technology great!
@silverqueen I'm not @shawn but - I don't know, it's complicated stuff.
Hahahahaha Touché @jont I sort of thought but it was worth a shot. It sure is complicated stuff. I am ever so glad it works as well as it does. I just loooooooove this site and crazy stuff!
