@thechinglish@troy I looked at this on Wayfair and based on the terrible spelling and grammar, along with the crazy “brand” name—if you can even call it that—I wouldn’t trust it to not contain the worst types of things manufacturers put in vinyl-type products to make them soft and flexible.
@GLaDOS@thechinglish@troy And given the number of apparent heat-bonded seams present when inflated, I see way too many inches of sooner-or-later failure point. Since it’s an air mattress with just one chamber, that pretty much means that durability is not going to be a feature.
@radi0j0hn Yes, and a supply of these which would provide the same number of nights of service would probably cost two or three orders of magnitude more than those.
I got these during one of the mehrethons bc sometimes I end up needing to sleep on the ground next to my toddler’s crib (or not sleep at all). The method to blow them up is kind of odd-- you use the bag that it is stored in to capture air and then squeeze that air into the pad. Not particularly quick, but quiet. The few times I’ve used the pad it’s deflated by the morning.
@Kidsandliz@televiper thermarest is the brand I know of for backpacking. And you don’t want to be sleeping on cold ground cause that is going to sap a bunch of energy. Pretty spendy though because weight etc.
Air… Ain’t great when it’s just in large pockets like this. When is in a bunch of very small pockets… That’s how winter coats and most insulation works. But yeah I highly doubt this is a good implementation
No reputable camping store I can find online is selling these. If they were any good they would be. Probably OK for a weekend car camping trip where you have alternatives if they crap out.
@Kidsandliz@stinks
Don’t get me wrong… I love my thermarest and the knockoff we got from campmor years ago. Might be worth checking this out. Any input from prior suckers purchasers would be appreciated!

Are those maxi pads?
@yakkoTDI Yes. Each large enough to accommadate one dead hooker.
@detailer Excellent!
What brand even is it?
@thechinglish Qomotop
@thechinglish @troy You say, “Cuomo is on top”? Thought he had been replaced…

That’s a lot for two pieces of bubble wrap.
@awk Bubble wrap might be more useful.
Have you priced tatami mats and real futons (all non washable) for floor sleepers?
@radi0j0hn Yes, and a supply of these which would provide the same number of nights of service would probably cost two or three orders of magnitude more than those.

MehI mean,Yawn.
I think the two singles in the picture might be humongous ears of corn on the cob.
@gertiestn How long ago did you last eat???
Do we know the R-value of these?
@televiper they’re infectious?
@televiper Dunno, ask a pirate.
@televiper 32
@awk @televiper
boo… Dad jokes…
@awk @n8mack33 @televiper
Aye, Sea what you did thar, matey!
@awk @mike808 @n8mack33 @televiper I approve these correct jokes. They have my personal seal of approval.
/giphy seal clapping

@awk @mike808 @n8mack33 @televiper not the seal I was looking for but very appropriate giphy so I’m not messing with it
@televiper Any air mattress is no good at freezing and below. They don’t insulate from cold very well. You’d need to put blankets on it.

@Kidsandliz And you can get a Kelty from REI for $34.
https://www.rei.com/product/187551
Thermarest is just south of $50.
I’d recommend going with a name brand.
@Kidsandliz @stinks
kelty and thermarest are good products, though interestingly enough this one is over a pound lighter…
@chienfou @Kidsandliz Yeah I took a Thermarest my last hike, but it is more of a car camping (as in drive there and camp) item I guess.

suckerspurchasers would be appreciated!@chienfou @stinks this one has no foam in it if it is like the thermarest I have. Of course they also make some strictly air ones too.
“Is it Mac compatible: No, and we swear, if you take your friggin’ MacBook camping, so help us!”
Meh, I’m disappointed. You make a sad joke like this one when you could’ve made one about an iPad? Very disappointed indeed.
I think I will get one for when my mother-in-law visits.
Looks like someone forgot to edit out the (unavailable) navy single version model number!
