Woot sells meh stuff a lot. Basically the founders of meh first founded woot and after making it a fantastic success sold it to amazon. Then they came over here and founded meh. Woot as a result is a bit like the spurned ex. They are slowly going downhill while watching meh and wishing they were as much fun as their ex meh.(mental image should be of woot eating gallons of ice cream while stalking mehs facebook and Instagram)
I’ve spent most of my time at shirt.woot, but their drop was anything but slow. After changing the blanks in 2012, women who were more petite were left without an option at all, and the men’s shirts were of poorer quality.
Their #1 volume artist started his own site one day after shirt.woot announced the changing of the blanks. Although he’s not the direct cause of customer flight, he ultimately did benefit from it. And he had a huge following. No other shirt.woot artist has had 30 different derbies with rules made specifically against their designs.
As I recall for the time period, outside of deals.woot and buying up ad space on shirt.woot a couple times, he wasn’t doing any online advertising yet. TT was still more a side hobby to working on his PhD. anyway … which by year two, had to give.
@mydrivec The backstory has been brought up in mostly bits and pieces between here and at shirt.woot. The thing is, shirt.woot wouldn’t be where they are now if it wasn’t the avalanche of things that happened – the price hike, the changing shirt blanks, Woot’s site redesign, their volume artist leaving, and increased competition in crowdsourced shirt sites – all in a span of under two years.
meh
I noticed today.
Blasphemy.
Meh?

Can you even put a price on such hilarity???
@Nuurgle I laughed more at your comment than I ever have at a mug.
