I got one of those in the last Mehrican Exchange
Moi aussi @StrangerDanger Moi aussi.
I have two of these things now, one from a BOC, and one from the Mehrican Exchange. Not really sure why these things exist.
I got one, too. Would you like it, @ACraigL?
@pitamuffin Um, no. I was going to offer some to you.
Even though I used to be a dedicated Woot checker, I have never ventured into the Woot Forums. I did today...
That was the absolute worst design I have ever seen on the web. I couldn't tell what was content and what was badges or quotes of a previous post. People were quoting the post directly above them and adding "lol." Never venturing into there again.
I don't know which of you at Mediocre designed the forums here, but I want to thank you for not making it...... that.
@Willijs3 Their "design" has been static for years. Definitely needs an overhaul, but it's manageable, and not as bad as you're making it out to be. That said, the forums here are much more straightforward.
@Willijs3 we selected the core code for the Woot forums in 2004 after launching with a Phbb system. It was an open source .Net forum, so radically hacked at over the years that it's a real bitch for them to change. You should try it on mobile!
@Willijs3 Try to find a thread here that hasn't seen a post in a week. Bonus challenge: You can't quite remember the thread's exact subject words.
@editorkid
@Willijs3 Mmmmmmyup. See, you can't sort by least recent activity, or generally see any thread that's been inactive for more than a week, and you can't search if you don't know the subject line, especially if it was mostly stopwords anyway. So, like I say.
@editorkid I do really wish that you could search by words that were used in the post/replies.. that's when I need to go to google and search with site:meh.com/forum to try and get anything useful..
@kadagan Yeah, same here. I was looking for a not-that-old thread a few days ago, and three searches here had not a single result because all of the words were so common that you can't search for them (the stopword issue I mention... I think that's what they're called). So it took three searches at the Goog using different combinations of keywords to find it.
@snapster I like the community pages on woot when browsing on a mobile because it defaults to desktop view which is more functional than the mobile areas of their site.
@snapster Wasn't it based on an early version of Community Server or it's forums predecessor ASP.NET Forums? Good times.
@harder Very dangerous. You go first.

Lol
@lichme Lol, lol.
It always makes me nervous to post something positive about an antiquated piece of equipment, because I feel like I am asking to be the receiver of a pallet of the item. BUT, I received 2 of these in the Mehxchange and my kids love them. They still have dsi(s) that they use when something goes haywire with their tablets. These docs mean I know where to charge the stupid things when I find them. Thanks @xarous for them!! (but I don't need any more!!)
@mikibell I was actually thinking I could use ONE of them for my DSi (which I should probably call my son's..) but I'm nervous to mention it! lol
@kadagan sad isn't..that @jont's proclivity for lex talionis causes us to mumble our preferences. 😸
Well, that came to an exciting conclusion...
