The Powerpuff Girls (2016)
2I'm pissed off. And it's not because I hate the show.
It's because I love it.
That may seem great and all, but not so much when everyone else is a stupid asshole with diamond rimmed nostalgia goggles who can't accept that there's a younger generation that's different than us and that this show isn't the same show that aired in the late 90s and early 2000s.
I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who's seen both shows and likes this one better.

I'm one of those stuck with the original, and it's probably going to stay that way.
(A new plate isn't going to be autographed, y'know.)
@narfcake I sigh and shake my head.
@narfcake
Hmmm...
@Dizavid I know Craig wasn't involved in it, so by not watching it, I have no clue if the new production is on par with what I remember of it 17+ years ago. And for now, I want it stay unknown.
@FroodyFrog That pic was taken down at SDCC.
@narfcake
That part I figured out. It's the other part which puzzles me.
@FroodyFrog What other part? That I got it because all the good Animaniacs ones were taken already?
@narfcake
I'm wondering what kind of car that is tbh.
@FroodyFrog It's a brick.
@narfcake
And this is SuperBrick
@FroodyFrog @narfcake
OMG. I am scared right now.
Actually not. I like the path you two are taking right now ;) At least I will not have to suffer alone.
@mfladd
Care to explain? My mind is out of it right now.
@FroodyFrog Nope.
@mfladd
Meh.
I could never get the hang of Sundays.
@FroodyFrog Perhaps I was completely wrong on the banter. I saw it as good nature'd hatred. Perhaps I was wrong. I do not look at every thread. Nevermind.
@mfladd No hatred, but for now, I prefer to remain oblivious to the reboot.
I've seen it, but I'll hold back on my thoughts for a while.
At this current time though, I will say this: there are certain shows which are nostalgic. When reboots were announced, people started criticizing the shows since happy memories of the parent shows were being tarnished somehow.
What people have to remember, is that even though the shows were great when they aired originally, and still are great, (it's why I bought the Animaniacs box set), there's a whole new generation to introduce to the shows.
A great example would be Scooby-Doo. The original broadcast was in 1976. Since that time, there have been numerous spin-offs. Have they all been accepted? For the large part.
Has everyone liked every iteration? Not necessarily.
For instance, I love watching The New Scooby-Doo Movies.
I was really hooked on Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, and the fact that the series had an storyline for the 2 seasons.
However, I can't fully accept Be Cool Scooby Doo.
The biggest thing with all these iterations of Scooby Doo, is that they've attracted new fans, and kept existing fans.
Getting back to my second paragraph. Just because a spin off isn't how you want it to be, whether it's a "sequel" (like how Girls Meets World is sort of a sequel to Boy Meets World, or Fuller House is sort of a sequel to Full House), or just a new iteration, it doesn't mean that it doesn't have merits of its own even though some of the cast may be the same.
@FroodyFrog Yeah, I loved What's New, Scooby-Doo? and Mysteries Inc. But I won't even watch an episode of Be Cool, Scooby-Doo, because it looks like Family Guy. It's just too ugly.
@Dizavid
@FroodyFrog You know, I actually didn't mind 13 Ghosts. I watched all the old Scooby-Doo shows because they were on when I was a very young kid. And I kinda liked all of them. To this day, I'm not sure why Scrappy is so hated. He's kinda useless, I guess, but so?
@FroodyFrog Man, those really did not get better with time.
@allonbacuth What's New, Scooby-Doo is the best Scooby-Doo theme song of all time.
I should probably add that with some other reboots, I'm on the fence.
For instance: The Looney Tunes show.
Some of the episodes I liked, others were a bit of a struggle. However, I did enjoy a number of the songs which they had. For instance:
@Dizavid
Often when I'm not thinking of anything in particular (which happens a lot, although from THAT segment of "a lot", the following happens often), the What's New Scooby-Doo theme song plays repeatedly in my head.
Never watched 13 Ghosts. Never had a chance. Now, if only I owned a copy of it. And yes, I know it's on eBay for $12.
@allonbacuth while some of them may not be as good as others, I prefer to look at each of them independently.
I'm curious @Dizavid, would you extend the same thing with regards to movies? (I.e that a reboot of a movie is geared towards a newer audience than when the original one was premiered.)
I'm not talking about a half reboot/ half sequel. I'm talking about a full reboot where the plot is ~85% the same.
@FroodyFrog I think movies and video games seriously need to stop doing remakes.
@Dizavid
But then The Pokémon Company (and Nintendo) wouldn't have a lot of their games...

It's basically an animation done in PowerPoint. Pass.
@DrunkCat
Thanks for the laugh.
So... due to certain requirements, I spent part of a day this week analyzing some episodes.
While I have no problem with them having rebooted the series (as previously mentioned), their approach to certain topics and episodes could have possibly been done better.
