What are some of your favorite recent(ish) middlebrow/low-to-mid-budget thrillers/action movies?
3This was inspired by the trailer to the film The Last Stop in Yuma County. Not only does it look delightful, but it seems like the sort of movie you really don’t see anymore: not an arthouse movie, nor part of some billion-dollar superhero/mega-action franchise. Just some good old-fashioned grimy shenanigans. Some of my recent faves along these lines include The Outfit, Small Town Crime, and Riders of Justice. What are yours? (Yes, this was shamelessly copied from the writeup for the pulse oximeter. Discussion is open. Have at it.)

I read the review for The Last Stop in Yuma County and now I want to watch it, lol.
One of my semi-recent movie favorites is Collateral. Although I looked it up and it was released 20 years ago, lmao. But it was new to me a few months ago
I also really liked Bullet Train. Big budget and not super well plotted, but def meets “not an arthouse movie, nor part of some billion-dollar superhero/mega-action franchise. Just some good old-fashioned grimy shenanigans.”
I know it’s a TV series and not a movie, but I really liked Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

I was a bit disappointed in M&M S. But I did like the movie.

Oh I really liked Mr. & Mrs. Smith! I wish they’d make another one!

Movie or series?

Both! Well, I’d say the movie was better overall. I remember getting board with one of the episodes but I’d love to see more of both of them!
I watched the movie first, and then found the series a year later.
The Fall Guy looks like fun. It bombed with a large production budget. Make smaller action movies, Hollywood.
