The meh button
1So what does the meh button do? Is it there for fun or is it there for marketing research?
I assumed it was for the latter and as such have been picky about what i meh because if it is being used to determine what Meh users want and don't want on the site I want to be helpful.
But reading through the forums everyone seems to just be clicking meh to continue their streak or to see what the face of the day is.

the first rule of the meh button is, you do not talk about the meh button.
I originally thought that it was for marketing research, but now I think it's just for fun. Although....it might be part of some super secret diabolical plan to control our thoughts and force us to buy more crap..err, uh products.
Every time you click the meh button, an octopus dies.
@parodymandotcom Thats terrible :O thats my favorite animal actually...
It's a hook to entice us to return every day. I must click! I must not let my streak die!
I have this secret wish that one day I click the meh button and it takes me to a super secret fuku buying page...or to a live time camera stream of the goings on at mediocre HQ.
@patti If either of those things actually happened you would end up profoundly disappointed.
@SSteve Yes, but such is the way of meh. I kind of anticipate bitter disappointment.
@patti Anticipation of bitter disappointment is the bond that holds this community together.
Probably it was intended for one use and the community twisted it into what we wanted to use it for LOL or it was an experiment to see what we'd do...
it will never be as meh as it is now. ambiguity is the ultimate meh enhancement.
I think it's right to observe that we're leaning towards the check-in. That seems to be where more future feature energy lies.
@snapster Maybe make it an incentive? Like, if you achieve 100 mehs in a row, you get a free VMP membership?
@snapster How about a "Let's Make a Deal" game. Once you reach a set level, you click Meh and get the choice of a mystery deal OR continuing the Meh streak.
@BillLehecka That would only work if the meh kidnapping bot didn't eat your click. My click yesterday vanished and I was signed in then and still am today!! This is loss number 6 or 7 in the last 5 months at this point.
@Kidsandliz I lost my purchase of a free MVP and my meh button press. Since then I double check. It only takes a bit longer to verify. Click, then refresh.
It's a way to get customers coming back every day to click on the icon. If people come back every day, they would be more likely to buy something.
I bought batteries and forgot to click meh..... my streak thus ended at 42. sigh.....
@ilovereality I didn't realize you could click it if you bought something.
I just realized why my meh click probably didn't "take" yesterday. I clicked meh prior to when they had completely updated the page - it still had the previous day's sales info. I bet that is why my meh click got lost a couple of other times too (some other times are more random) @jont - perhaps give this info to the code geeks to check this out and see if they can prevent that from happening in the future?
@Kidsandliz I lost my 240+ streak due to an error like that. Is there a way to petition for meh reinstatement?
Sorry, @caver2130 - once a meh has passed, it cannot be reclaimed.
