My other half has an iphone and does use his speaker dock - it came in the first or 2nd fuku he got. He loves it, because it's his clock and phone charger.

@heartbleed yep. But they both have their places. The Micro takes up less surface space on a dresser or nightstand. Good for overnight charging as well as listening.

The iPad-size Mini has that nice Lithium Ion battery (no messing with loose batteries) so it is more portable - for example outside on the patio or in the garage or in the workshop. Or for camping - a nice music source or when connected to a laptop/tablet, pseudo home theater sound for watching movies. And it has slightly fuller sound.

Both have really clean sound and solid build quality tho.

@RedOak Damn, I always thought the mini didn't have any batteries! I would have bought one ages ago if I realized! I've got 2 micros, and JonT said he's sending me another for sticking a speaker dock up someone's butt. lol

@kadagan Hah! I feel like a damned meh shill, pushing these JBL's all over the place. But I could care less about meh.

I simply believe these JBL's at these prices are an amazing value - since unlike just about every other similar sized speaker I've heard (including the smaller JBL speakers we've seen here), they actually sound pretty good.

I noticed you did not tag @JonT. ;-) He gave me a Mini for some witty or silly thing I did a while back. I'll likely buy at least another one if they reappear, especially at a similar relative discount like the Micros () today - perhaps ?

Don't fret - the lack of the word "Mini" in today's write-up seems to signal the possibility Meh still has a cache of Minis to unload. In spite of several mentions of this possibility, I have not seen any Erlenmeyer Flaskers contradicting it. Tomorrow? Or would that be too close?

Hmm. The Meh forum engine did not like my minus pricing symbols (2nd to last paragraph, last sentence). Today's Micro is minus $2 from what I paid originally and it thereby seems the Minis could be offered - if they exist - at a relative price of perhaps minus $5.

I got a dock in Fuku and it has radio which I like to tune in occasionally, but the case I have on my phone won't work w/ it. and taking on off mucks up the glass protector thingy.
I hate always plugging it into my mac, cause it wants to open things and sync. It probably bothers me more than it should.

@ceagee I've found that some of the cheaper ones don't work. Not sure why.

@Pufferfishy it's a speaker dock. It has sub and aux inputs. Actually I rarely use the Lightning port. I usually use a cable attached to it.

@sohmageek I plug my phone into a USB cable and lay it on my laptop - that doesn't magically make my laptop a speaker dock. It's an iDevice plain and simple.

@Pufferfishy Nope... The laptop doesn't play music from the USB port to the speakers, it may be considered a "smart" speaker dock if you can figure out how to get it to play from the iPhone to the speakers from just the lightning cable!

@lljk I had to go to the manufacturer for a warranty exchange and the manufacturer was out of stock at the time... They ended up replacing it with a brand new model that is much nicer. Also I think I remember hearing from a mediocre employee that JBL was moving to bluetooth and anything without bluetooth was discontinued. That or I had dreams about speaker docks...
