Edmund Gwenn in Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
Today’s survey should rightly include a single choice. Everybody else is an only an actor.
from Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town
The original “Miracle” is the true cinematic Santa. Not the colorized version. (Barf!). Not the remake. (Hack frauds!)
Though the Futurama version is the best non-stop-motion animated version.
Whoever it was who played Santa in Santa Claus versus the Martians. Featuring a pre-teen Pia Zadora.
@SSteve John Call played Santa Claus in Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964) with Pia Zadora.
@Pavlov Needs the MST3k silhouettes to make it watchable.
@sanspoint Sorry. My bad:
Call was actually a well respected and highly regarded stage actor, enjoying a 30+ year run on Broadway performing in 19 productions.
@Pavlov We’ve got movie sign!
@ELUNO EEEEEEKKKKKK!
Art Carney- Twilight Zone “Night of the meek”
I really liked “Rise of the Guardians”’ portrayal of him. Watch the trailer if you don’t know what I mean.
Mickey Rooney in the Rankin-Bass specials.
@alanh A fast walking man is hard to beat.
Jay Ripley from Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny.
No question the best Santa in cinema history 'cause sometimes you need a Santa that isn’t afraid to soil himself.
David Huddleston from 1985 Santa Claus: the Movie. Great childhood memories watching that movie every year.
@jbrookebarrow Also has BEST Reindeer.
The Hogfather, of course.
@80wattHamster Always, though Death did a creditable impersonation. And The Hogfather also featured Michelle Dockery’s best role.
Austin Pendleton in Christmas with the Kranks!
The santa clause from A Christmas Story
