The debut novel of Sean Adams, Meh writer to you & me, out now
35The Heap, written by our own @dseanadams, launched today! And the reviews are great!
- NPR: https://www.npr.org/2020/01/07/791838101/theres-heart-amidst-the-ruins-of-the-heap
“The first great science fiction novel of 2020, The Heap is sharp, acidic and sweet” - The New York Times (this one covers a bit more of the plot so avoid if you hate spoilers): https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/03/books/review/sean-adams-heap.html
Oh yeah, and you can get it here (as well as at indie bookstores): https://www.amazon.com/Heap-Novel-Sean-Adams/dp/0062957732
(and there’s an audio book for those who prefer that).
While Sean ponders who’ll play his lead characters in the eventual summer blockbuster, we just hope he’ll deign to write for Meh here and there. Congrats, Sean!

Yay!
Congratulations, @dseanadams

@dseanadams Here’s a notification to the corrected username just in case!
That’s so cool. Congrats @seanadams!
Just got it on Audible, can’t wait to listen!
Total awe! Congrats on the great reception! Thx, and going off now to check this out!
Update: purchased audible version.
How many science fiction novels have come out in the last 7 days? How many were “great” if not the first one? I guess it pays to publish on Jan 1st, eh?
Hey @dave, I thought it was @dseanadams
@therealjrn @dave I think you’re correct:
https://meh.com/forum/topics/please-buy-meh-book
there is a seanadams that has a membership but very little activity. dseanadams has a flask badge, indicating gainful mehployment.
@dave @stolicat @therealjrn
Gainful?
/giphy huh
@dave @f00l @therealjrn well, he had time to write his book, so that’s sort of gainful.
@therealjrn Ha, whoops, thanks.
i was reading him before it was cool
edit: but everyone go buy a copy today so you can say you were reading him before it was a best seller
I like sci-fi; sure, I’ll read yours.
Two books in line ahead of you though.
(Ted Chiang and Adrian Tchaikovsky - stiff competition!)
Congrats - I got the kindle and audible, seems I had some sort of coupon deal sitting there I at Amazon so able to get both for $7.99.
@stolicat remind yourself to cancel the audible trial in 29 days or you will need to blame the next goat for the charge.
@thismyusername thanks - I have it on my calendar. Siri will not let me miss it.
Is it the end of the world and are we all going to die?
@Barney it’s the end of the world as we know. but, i feel fine.
wow, that sounds pretty good. It’s going on my goodreads to-read shelf asap. Thanks!
Currently amazon’s #1 new release in “Literary Satire Fiction.” I don’t know how many other books there are in that category, but congratulations to @dseanadams!
@mossygreen It occurred to me that I could click on “Literary Satire Fiction” and can now report that The Heap is kicking Charles Dickens’ ass.
@mossygreen Long have I dreamed of the day when I would be able to knock Charles Dickens down a peg!
@dseanadams Can I borrow some money?
Congrats! Also congrats on getting reviews where you did.
It helps to have robust support from your publisher, who can arrange for reviews by other established authors under the same publisher, just as they received for their book launches.
Not taking away from Sean or his book or Harper Collins, just saying a lot of any new book’s “buzz” is coming directly from the publisher. That kind of is their job, after all.
Kudos on the Kirkus review.
@Kidsandliz FWIW,

Mine just showed up- I preordered it and forgot. It’s next in line.
Based on a true story involving a mishap in the meh warehouse. They still haven’t found all the bodies amongst the pile of toppled speaker dock pallets.
@medz
Meh mehrketing?
When is meh going to sell signed copies?
@medz Can he autograph the back of my kindle?
I’m in for a Kindle copy. Congrats! The preview looks fun!
Will you still be writing Dilbert?
Just picked up my Kindle version. Might be a while, before I read, but it’s in the queue!
So I read it, and I liked it, and the other day at work I looked at a French-labeled side of a box of green tea (thé vert) and thought, The Vert, nice!
@mossygreen I’m about a quarter of the way through. So far I’m really enjoying it.
Guess what I found on Chirp Books today?
