If somebody eats cake every day, then when they have cake on the day that is the anniversary of their being born, is that considered having cake for your birthday?
No. It’s called having cake and your birthday happening to be on the side.
I normally have ceramics class on Saturday mornings, but we’re off this week. I brought a bunch of bisque fired stuff home to glaze so I could get out in front of firing deadlines, so I’ll still probably be working on ceramics.
I’m thinking when we retire, if we move to a place without a nearby pottery studio or community college with same, that we’ll have to have a kiln and work area for my wife.
@duodec I take my classes at the art museum. I’m still very much a beginner, but I try to be inventive. The classes are very popular and consequently very full, so there’s a lot of competition for the throwing wheels. I generally just yield them and stick with hand building. I need to whip up some Christmas gifts though, and wheel throwing goes much faster than hand building, so I’m going to have to hog one of the wheels for one class soon.
@mfladd - Why chemicals instead of sanding? I rented a standup sander from the Big Orange Box just the other day and zoomed through the first floor on two 40-grit belts. Have to take a manual to the get the edges but I’d still call it the best $100 I’ve spent on home improvement.
@aetris Noooooo…My neighbors did the sanding recently. They are still pulling wood dust out of their ass. Chemically, its pretty easy with easy cleanup. Just have to put up with shorter life span. I am good with that.
@mfladd - I’m not going to disagree about the dust (notes to PAST self - buy first-class respirator; if you take gloves off put them on again afterwards; make sure you have removed ALL carpet staples; buy extra sandpaper - you can always return unused) DESPITE old clothes and having an incoming AND outgoing fan BUT - several years back I tried chemicals and it was a HUGE mess and MUCH more work than expected.
Good luck (past tense?) Let us know how it all went!
I just hang out at the house, watch some cheesy Christmas movies, get my music ready for church on Sunday. Prob a little housework here and there. I hope to sit and crochet a while.
I will be taking my dog Kota to PetSmart. They are having a pet adoption event and I want to get him a brother or sister. Hopefully there will be someone there he likes.
@looseneck Our humane society is having a free adoption weekend and my doggo needs a friend too. The cats don’t like him and he’s been here 9 months so I’m considering doing that tomorrow.
@f00l@melwin@aetris Success! We brought Chance home on Saturday and renamed him Scout. Today is their home-together-alone-for-the-first-time day. Fingers are crossed that I will come home to an intact house!
Haven’t had time to take pictures of him yet, but he looks like a Shepherd/Collie mix about 3 years old.
@looseneck - Mr Bandit says, “Welcome Scout, congratulations on your new home, stay the hell away from mine as I hate all other dogs, your friend, Bandit”
@looseneck Congratulations on your new family member! Speaking of shelter dogs named Chance (Probably second only to Lucky for shelter names), have you seen this video? An old favorite of mine.
@aetris I have a feeling there was a donor for video cost relationship with a lot of people in it. Which is okay by me, I’ve done plenty of incentivized donating, as well as the more altruistic type.

Surprisingly, I have the day off. I have no plans.
I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, and any shopping I need to do, I could just attempt to do online.
@mflassy
You don’t have to feast, or be with people, to celebrate Thanksgiving.
You could just appreciate the good stuff. Openly, or for a few seconds, in awareness.
That suffices.
@f00l
I do that daily though.
@mflassy
Then, it would seem, you do celebrate Thanksgiving, after all.
@f00l
I express gratitude.
Gratitudegiving.
@mflassy
Close enough, for this moment.
You edited. Leaving the reply, even tho now it does not make sense.
Ok. You edited back. Cool.
(Reply to a post that was earlier, is now later. I give thanks for editing).
Sure. Call it cake as it might please you to call it cake. Or not.

@mflassy
Cake is good.
I like Black Forest Cake a lot.
@f00l
Speaking of which…
Ronnie makes interesting cakes.
@f00l
Pass. Pineapple is acidic.
@mflassy
Ronny does make interesting cakes.
Too lazy to drive there tho.
Re black forest cake.
There are variety of recipes.
To the best of my knowledge, I have never had a taste of one which had used pineapple as an ingredient.
@f00l
I once considered going.
Decided not to in the end.

@moondrake
Pictures?
@moondrake My wife does pottery class on Saturdays and loves it. They’re also off this weekend.
@mflassy The bisque pieces aren’t much to look at.
This is my last finished piece, and a batch of pieces I finished last month.

@moondrake Neat and pretty stuff.

I do not go out on Friday. Weather permitting thats the day we start putting up the lights outside (and finish Saturday). Maybe Sunday go shopping.
And leftovers EVERY DAY!
Chemically stripping wood floors
(will lose about two years off my life)
@mfladd make sure you wear a mask:
@RiotDemon Last room I didn’t and lost 4 years off my life.
@mfladd I recommend something like this. You can get them pretty much at any home improvement store:
Much better than paper masks. I’ve used them spray painting and it actually keeps the smells out.

Have to agree on the respirator, though…

Good luck! Be aware, though, that some dogs like to rule the roost alone.

@aetris He seems to be getting used to being the only dog and getting all the love and attention and leftovers

Much congrats.

Hem! Loved it, but there should have been a LOT more animals in the frame. A LOT lot more. People ratio was just too high.
@aetris I have a feeling there was a donor for video cost relationship with a lot of people in it. Which is okay by me, I’ve done plenty of incentivized donating, as well as the more altruistic type.
They could still have been at least PETTING an animal. Or cat-tossing down all those hallways!
