We just did the main Christmas event tonight. Our Christmas Eve feast was ham and jambalaya, and then Dad brought a last minute turkey so we had a triple centerpiece. I was super happy that I rediscovered my Rada slicer that had hidden itself in my knife drawer. I wish I’d had that for every other large meat event as it was the MVP of the meal.
@Eskieguy I’m a potato fan, fixed most any way. But for Christmas dinner this year, it’s scalloped potatoes au gratin with Gruyere cheese and Dijon mustard, to accompany the ham.
i picked ham since that’s what we always have but tbh i would have gotten another turkey if i could. unfortunately those are only around at thanksgiving, and there’s not enough room in my freezer to buy a spare in november. there seems to be this idea in my fam that we can’t have turkey for xmas because we “just had it for thanksgiving” but if it’s good who cares? also thanksgiving was a month ago.
anyway, it’s just my partner and me and no turkey to be had so ham it is. brown sugar & mustard glaze with pineapple, sides of cheesy potatoes (funeral potatoes), green beans, and deviled eggs because i had a craving. marionberry thumbprints and brown butter chocolate chip cookies on the cookie tray this year.
now in the paraphrased words of tabitha brown, y’all go about your christmas, and have the most amazing day. but even if you can’t have a good one, don’t you dare go messing up nobody else’s, ya hear? alright
Pierogi!
Liquor.
Roast Beast…
@somf69 Who eats that.
@shahnm @somf69 I see what you did there
@shahnm the good people of Whoville
@somf69 I didn’t ask it as a question - I just made a statement of fact…
Fruitcake. It’s all about a well aged bread loaf that takes an electric knife to serve.
@hchavers Not an axe?
@Kidsandliz ummm. You may have age yours a little, make that a lot, too long.
@hchavers Do you small poke holes in your fruit cake while it’s aging and pour whiskey or brandy over it, too?

Leftover Irk flank ‘n’ giblets.
@UncleVinny Wow I didn’t know they were shipping out meat in those. I guess Pastadrop was a gateway to weirder stuff.
Give me a tasty craft beer and some mashed potatoes and I’m good to go
Homemade mashed potatoes & gravy. Can easily make up for other things, that aren’t quite so good.

Family!
Getting them to stay at the center of the table can be a challenge, though.
