@yakkoTDI rogue one is main Cannon not a spin off? I mean technically they are all cannon but…
Then the shit they did to the expanded universe… They are not going to get Timothy Zahn etc etc back. But. It’s Disney and we no longer care about books. Just tie in “novels”
@unksol I’ve read the new ones as they’ve become available at the library. The ‘young adult’ books by Claudia Grey or Justina Ireland feel like Star Wars in the same way those early 90s Trilogies do. The Alphabet Squadron trilogy is as good as Aaron Allston’s X-wing books. I enjoyed it.
@Nate311 the x-wing series were good. I destroyed the YA section at the library back then. The Zahn novels were in the adult non fiction. As was the Dune series and a number of other things. Always seemed like a arbitrary distinction.
I have not been reading much in the last… ~20 years. Since college started. Which is horrible since I was the terror of every library I could get to before that. Granted our Internet was unusable and time to kill when you’re a kid.
@chienfou@Nate311 I may just be remembering things wrong. We had severarl terminals and I rembemer running slow it’s a library to get to one and find/claim mine. They use to glow a dull orange. IDK why instead of the classic green.
You had to be reasonablely logical to find the book if you didn’t know the title which you didn’t if it was new. So. Parents used to just let us loose and I learned quicky to get to a terminal and start searching/writing down numbers. By subject/series/authors They had pencils/paper by them. In cannot claim I learned the Dewey decimal system. I learned how to find where to get at what I wanted via the indexing system offered`
@chienfou@Nate311 lol. My bad. Brain skipped. I do still have some very fond memories in the stacks. Inspent a lot of time reading WWII/history too. libraries were the gateway when I was a kid. Then the Internet…
@Nate311@unksol
same here. And we transferred that love to our kids. One summer they (two of them) accounted for 10% of the books checked out in our small town library!
@blaineg just finished it with my 10 yr old. Fantastic job as always. his favorite was the Wookiee family but did admit the concert/music video was a little weird.
@krobb1290 What I really like about this series is that it is straight-up science fiction with no midichlorian/force-wielders. I can easily stand alone as a story without knowing much about the rest of the Star Wars universe.
If we’re restricting the conversation to shows and movies, then the Genndy Tartakovsky (animator behind Dexterks Lab and other shows) Clone Wars animation is the best outside the main six.
I just want to say: When Ahsoka showed up in Rebels I was excited enough that I cried a little. None of the choices on this poll elicited that reaction from me. So my choice is Rebels?
the clone wars cartoons will always have a special place in my heart… (up through and Fully including “The Bad Batch” LOVE that show.)
at first I was against the relaunch, because i was such a fan of the Tartakovsky series, but the other grew on me very much… to the point that when Ashoka turned up all live action-y opposite Mando… I blurted out “SNIPS!”
The appearance of internal Disney politics that killed Cartoon Network’s “Clone Wars”, in favor of Disney XD’s “Rebels” …
“We can’t have 2 Starwars cartoons in production at the same time, especially if the one is on a network we don’t own!” (plus I don’t think we got XD when the show started…) kinda poisoned me against it from the beginning… maybe of of these days I’ll get around to it…provided it’s on a service i have access to…
and to everyone shouting "Andor!‘’
I tried… I Fucking Tried… i’ve seen the first half of the first episode half a dozen times… i keep falling asleep…
@earlyre I thought Andor started way too slow, and wandered around in the middle as well, but overall it’s a good show. Worth slogging through the first couple of episodes.
It’s great to see the first, tentative steps of the Rebellion.
Rogue One.

@unksol @yakkoTDI maybe I’m misunderstanding what you mean, but didn’t Zahn write a handful of now cannon Thrawn novels?
@MichaelrGraham @yakkoTDI ok… Yes he did. I was picking him off hand as an example of the classic thick expanded universe trilogies/series.
Do the new ones compare to the classic Thrawn trilogy? Serious question I’ll admit I have not read them.

@Nate311 @unksol
Looks like some librarian needs to go back to “Dewey Decimal school…”

The issue was NON fiction! I was just yanking your chain…
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Does a parody count?

@show_the_maw The whole thing. I dare you.
@blaineg just finished it with my 10 yr old. Fantastic job as always. his favorite was the Wookiee family but did admit the concert/music video was a little weird.
It’s Andor 100%
@krobb1290 this is the w… right answer.

Some wires crossed although both are amusing.

The Mandalorian is the best so far. I hope the new Ahsoka Tano series is as good.
If we’re restricting the conversation to shows and movies, then the Genndy Tartakovsky (animator behind Dexterks Lab and other shows) Clone Wars animation is the best outside the main six.
Bad Batch.
I would say The Mandalorian season 1. But then Disney and Kathleen Kennedy got involved and ruined it.
I would also say Rogue One director’s cut. Garett Edwards vision of Star Wars meets Apocalypse Now sounds interesting.
@sjk3 Uhh, Disney and Kathleen Kennedy were involved from the beginning.
Andor, without question.
Please a-meh-nd your list. You left off the answer, Andor.
I just want to say: When Ahsoka showed up in Rebels I was excited enough that I cried a little. None of the choices on this poll elicited that reaction from me. So my choice is Rebels?
@Nate311 Rebels is a key part of the story. So good.
There should be an option for “I don’t know because I’ve never seen any of them.”
space balls of course…

Earth Girls Are Easy.
Galaxy Quest!
No, wait, that’s the best Star Trek movie.
@blaineg Species 8472 disagrees with you. Star Trek The Motion Picture is the best.
@yakkoTDI Star Trek The Slow-Motion Picture
@blaineg Did you see “they” are going ahead with a Galaxy Quest series…

@blaineg
I was never a big fan of the original series and there is no logical reason as to why I like this one so much. I just like it. Stoopid brain.

Thank God no one has piped up with Book of Boba Fett. I am not sure how Jon Favreau can sleep at night…
@chienfou It was good fun, as well as being Mandalorian season 2.5.
@blaineg
I REALLY wanted to like the show, but thought it was not nearly as good as Mandalorian or Andor
@chienfou the piles of money are an effective sleep treatment plan.
Galaxy Quest
Ah heck the Han movie was fine.
