@rhcurry02 You're right - it probably will be religious folk that do us in. After all, they've been responsible for pretty much 100% of all wars that have ever been had. So it would make perfect sense that they just keep upping their violent extremes until the result is mass, worldwide destruction.
Which is such a shame because I was really starting to like this current pope.
@pepsiwine Just because a lot of wars were waged in the name of religion doesn't mean they were fought by religious "folk". Don't get me wrong..a lot has been fought because of religions but I feel more have used religions or bastardized versions for their own gain. I wish I was more knowledgeable about the Korean and Vietnam wars as far as why they were fought but I don't think it was because of religion. I could probably go on but I realized you most likely weren't looking for a debate..lol
@mehbee Even then it's nowhere near 100%. Especially if you're counting by number of lives lost... Franz Ferdinand, for example, was an archduke, not an archbishop.
@pepsiwine mechapope makes the world's remaining water holy. People refuse to drink it. Remaining alcohol consumed en masse. Holy DUIs ensue killing the masses.
@pepsiwine Even as someone who is not religious at all, I too like this Pope. Though living just outside of Philly, I'm truly starting to dislike the fact that he'll be here next month. The planning for it and the associated warnings of traffic hell are starting to grow old. I'd like to go see him but I'm not sure I want to jockey for a quick glimpse with 2 million other people.
@Al_Coholic Very true..most wars should never have happened. I can't honestly say there aren't some that I totally agree with, the Revolutionary war being one of them. Also after 911, right or wrong, I think we needed to hit back strong, I don't even know why we had to give any reasons why we were fighting back. But like I said I am not sure if I'm right or wrong feeling that way. I'm pretty non-violent 99% of the time...I was `100% pro-violence during that time.
@pepsiwine I totally realized I was rambling cause it was so late. I'm a dreaded East Coaster so I should have been sleeping..lol. I'm not Catholic but I love him. I think he truly loves his faith, his flock and his duties as Pope. He is doing so many things to bring people back to their faith and also creating a better opinion of the Catholic faith in the process. He's just personable and sweet and a great man. I also loved Pope John Paul, but just because I wanted to pinch his cheeks he was so sweet.
I was torn between overpopulation or global disease, which could come from overpopulation but I think @thisismyusername hit the nail on the head. I know I'd be out looking for Al so we could run amok if I lost the internet for more than four hours!
Demon "locusts", among other things (war, famine, natural disasters, and a bunch of plague-like craziness). In other words... I'm sticking with the four horses of the apocalypse.
@defibrillator Do you really think that might happen and I'm asking sincerely. I'm not sure how I feel about that...lol..I never considered it might happen.
@mehbee Personally I give Trump a one in five chance of getting the Presidency. I think he won't make it but I can't see how he bows out at this point.
@defibrillator I think he's too stubborn to bow out. I honesly think his knowledge could work well in some areas of our government but I don't think he has the skills necessary to be our leader.
And now I will bring up abortion. No society in the world can be healthy, if it thinks it's ok to murder their own most innocent, defenseless citizens. I don't want to make abortion illegal. I want people not to want them. It's not good for women who have them and we need the brilliant citizens who are being destroyed . I could on, and on. Too serious, I know.
@Thumperchick I am not trying to be on the high horse. I just don't understand , how it can be ok to kill your own kid? I truly don't understand. Please tell me why it's the right thing to do?
@Thumperchick I loved your reply, and I am not being sarcastic . Just so you know, and maybe you won't care, but I am a 55 year old women. Mick is an old gamer name, me and my daughters would use. Stands for Michelle (me) and my daughters Carla & Kyle (she was pissed off for long time that I gave her a boys name, but that's another story ) . Anyways, I would welcome anything you would ever want to say.
@mick the reason no one will engage with you on this is not that someone is afraid to offend you. We generally have fun here and this topic is heated and emotionally charged. We are choosing to not discuss it here because this is where we come to have fun. Please stop trying to force the issue into discussion.
No one mentions major financial collapse? It seems like it's the closest to happening, with the financial state of Greece, Italy, and others.. And with how tied together all global economies are these days, I think if one of two dominoes fall it may cause major issues everywhere.
@kadagan I don't mention that because of all of them, its the one thing that is too real..too possible and so I hid my head in the sand and pull a Scarlet..I'll worry about it tomorrow.
it's not one of those options, but a combo platter of several.
but who ever mentioned yellowstone... yes. once it goes, at a minimum, N America(yes i'm including the great white north, and Mexico) as we know it is done. for good.
If nothing else gets us first, birds will eventually kill off humanity. They've been around for millions of years, they are remorseless, and they can fly. Can you fly? No, you can't.
Been thinking about this all day and have come up with some kind of theory that combines semi-celebrity reality shows, the current GOP presidential field, and toothpaste. I think it's all going to come together in some kind of horrible, horrible accident.
Some nerd flips the wrong switch and initiates a true vacuum bubble inside the LHC, which then expands at the speed of light and destroys our universe.
You're missing solar flares and mega-volcanoes
Me.
Yellowstone. Bang. Bye.
Brain slurping Zombies of course
@hippiechik I favor the Zombie Apocalypse myself. Straight from Z to A. It has everything.
What? No religious prospects?
@rhcurry02 You're right - it probably will be religious folk that do us in. After all, they've been responsible for pretty much 100% of all wars that have ever been had. So it would make perfect sense that they just keep upping their violent extremes until the result is mass, worldwide destruction.

@mehbee Nah, it's too late at night for a debate.
I just like to take every opportunity to say something great about the current pope. Because he really is one of my new, favorite people.
@mehbee Even then it's nowhere near 100%. Especially if you're counting by number of lives lost... Franz Ferdinand, for example, was an archduke, not an archbishop.

first choice "al run amok". who is al and why would he run amok? :>)
@annwat hums innocently
@annwat
@annwat No, it's Al Run Amok. They're closely related to Al Qaeda.
@annwat I'm pretty sure it was Al Roker..
@annwat Al finally snaps.
Internet outage for more than 4 hours... the horror.
May 27, 2016 theatrical release; X-MEN: Apocalypse.

The final stanza may be the most quoted of all of Eliot's poetry:
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
Demon "locusts", among other things (war, famine, natural disasters, and a bunch of plague-like craziness). In other words... I'm sticking with the four horses of the apocalypse.
Horsemen? I feel like I should have said horsemen.
@christinewas But the four horses of the apocalypse is hilarious. Maybe they're small ponies.
@emilyap Apocalypse Ponies
@Teripie thats gotta be one of my all time fav robot chicken things....
@Teripie @emilyap This is perfect. I am definitely sticking with horses.
A Donald Trump presidency, but I'm oddly resigned to that.
@defibrillator Do you really think that might happen and I'm asking sincerely. I'm not sure how I feel about that...lol..I never considered it might happen.
@defibrillator @mehbee I think this is the only thing that will get Jon Stewart back on the Daily Show and I think that's good enough for me.
Too serious I know. The end of the world comes, because the good people do nothing, and then look away.
@mick Maybe too serious but way too true..
And now I will bring up abortion. No society in the world can be healthy, if it thinks it's ok to murder their own most innocent, defenseless citizens. I don't want to make abortion illegal. @mick
@Thumperchick that is an AWESOME gif... I love it.
@jennkaotic @Thumperchick I second that! Wanted to star it a dozen times!
@Thumperchick - I know, but I wanted to so badly. I even wrote it, then deleted it.
Your response is perfect.
@Thumperchick I am not trying to be on the high horse. I just don't understand , how it can be ok to kill your own kid? I truly don't understand. Please tell me why it's the right thing to do?
@KDemo I want to hear what you have to say, I wish you hadn't deleted what you wrote..
@Teripie What was so wrong, in what I said?
@mick
@mick You have the whole rest of the internet to discuss this. Please don't bring it here.
@Thumperchick I loved your reply, and I am not being sarcastic . Just so you know, and maybe you won't care, but I am a 55 year old women. Mick is an old gamer name, me and my daughters would use. I came to say ai, then I realized that was the first option. Where do I buy some artificial intelligence for myself?
I think it is going to start with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane...and something about Lenny Bruce not being afraid.
@densa Snakes, planes? what?? Did we miss the apocalypse in 2006?
Bill Cosby spikes what's left of Earth's fresh water.
Have you seen the movie "Wall-E?" I think it's the blueprint for the future.
it's not one of those options, but a combo platter of several.

@Teripie Fluoridated or unfluoridated toothpaste?
As I scrolled down the forum headlines, they told me that the apocalypse would come in the form of spam guards.
@parodymandotcom They told me something else:
@parodymandotcom - Even better -
Oooh, what about the bees finally being gone forever!!!
Some nerd flips the wrong switch and initiates a true vacuum bubble inside the LHC, which then expands at the speed of light and destroys our universe.
Oooh Oooh I so want it to be an alien invasion!!! Please let it be an alien invasion. I want to see aliens!!! LOL
