Bought these last time, these are cool. Magnet is solid, haven’t tried data transfer. Each individual cable comes with one of each tip, you can buy more tips direct from manufacturer
Two hiccups: I wish there was an option to buy the 10’ size @ meh pricing and more importantly I have been unable to charge my USB-C iPad Mini with these. I suspect (but can’t confirm) that may also be an issue with other Apple USB-C devices
@onae Many devices, and not just from Apple, will only charge with a cable that is USB-C at both ends. Apparently there is some signaling issue involved. Manufacturers love to call such devices “smart”, but I think the term smartass is more applicable.
I bought these on Meh and have been using it on my iPhone 15 (USB-C) and AirPod Pros (lightning) and it’s been charging fine, though, I am only using C->C charging, not the USB-A adapter that’s on the end.
@mottzdman That seems to be the hot ticket when it comes to getting them to do the job properly with some devices. We have a couple of things that simply will not charge at all unless they are connected to a charger with a USB-C port via a C to C cable.
@mottzdman@pakopako We have a Canon monocular that only draws 2.8A measured, and it refuses to recognize power from anything but a USB C 3.x port. I have a number of A port chargers with output capacities greater than 3A, and it ignores them Give it C and it’s happy.
Does the camera charge when plugged to a computer or laptop? (Some devices have built-in USB-C, but I’m curious if it would still charge in a machine with USB-A because the plug carries data through that port)
@mottzdman@pakopako I can state that it will charge if it’s connected to a USB-C port that supports USB 3.2 or later. I don’t have any USB-C that’s 3.0 or 3.1, so no data.

@onae @werehatrack ooh, I may steal “smartass cables” in the future

@mottzdman @werehatrack might also be that newer devices also need a certain power draw; the old chargers that push 2A or less just won’t work
